“Beautifully appointed room in pristine condition”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Lobby is open air and we had quite a walk to our room on the other side of the facility. Parking is limited at night, they don't have enough. If you park out of the area of the actual parking lot there are no security cameras viewing that area.

I got this room through Priceline and it came with 2 drink coupons. Usually, with Priceline you may or may not get a nice room and this time we did. The room appeared to be new. Beautifully tiled there is a separate soak tub and a stand up shower with 12" head on it. Comes with updated TV and a sensor in the shower/toilet area that turns the light on in there when you get close.

I was only there for 1 night so I did not use the pool which did look very inviting. They do have a bar off the pool and that is where we used the drink tickets. I'm not sure that every day isn't this Bartender's first day but he didn't have any problem uncapping a beer.

I would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Only 2 floors, our room was on the North side facing the pool...very quiet.

Visited the mill on a timeshare exchange this past Feb 2014. When choosing the exchange rep advised--- may want to reconsider----hay its Aruba and we are only sleepig there and having breakfast in the unit. HORRIBLE beds if you can call a piece of plywood and a lumpy 3-4 inch thick thing on top a matress. No comfortable chairs or sofa----all ratan furniture with thin pads that resulted in ridges whereever the body tried to rest. The kitchen had 1(one) electrical outlet thus breakfast was make coffee, switch appliances to make toast, reheat coffee in microwave then try and enjoy meal.
The restaruant was not bad and the pumpkin soup was to die for. The staff did make up for some of the bad stuff. The 15% extra on the restaurant bill was for breakage we were told! Overall the worst timeshar exchange in 30 yrs of exchanging.
Did Not recommend to the exchange co and would not to anyone else unless it is the last place available and you really want to go to Aruba

For many days we were drinking from the bar during happy hour 2 for 1, then the bartender decided to charge double for the drinks, he had randomly changed the happy hour time, even though the sign still said the correct happy hour time. We had signed the receipt without looking and when we realized we complained, but the answer was you're out of luck since you signed it, even when the time on the receipt was within happy hour time. Everyone we mentioned this to was rude, said you shouldn't have signed it if you didn't like it. For an extra $8 they didn't care if they provided quality service or whether the customer was right. Most of the clientele seemed from further south of Aruba, so they felt customers were all scammers they had to treat us all cheaply. The $8 was not the issue, we just don't like being taken for a ride. Don't go to that bar, other hotels across the street have better happy hours.

We ate at the restaurant on the first night we were there, and I saw a service charge of 15% on the bill and when asked the waiter if that was the tip, he said no, that was the island tax (btw we pay 15% tax in Canada at restaurants). He then went back to the other waiter and was laughing. I tipped him another 16-17% (rounded amount), but later found out that some restaurants on the island automatically charge the 15% tip on the bill, and there is hardly any tax on food. They at The Mill probably do this because most of their clientele are from cheap countries. Needless to say we didn't eat there again, and found wonderful restaurants north of there. Their restaurant was always empty and that should have been a sign, but on the first night we just didn't know where to go.

The pool was so dirty my ear got infected half way through the week and I was dying in pain by the time I got back to Toronto, with the right side of my face swollen, and urgently went to a clinic and the doctor saw the infection and prescribed me ear drops, antibiotics, and pain killers.
You go to Aruba because you want to receive some luxury, and you pay double any other destinations. Go instead to a cheap resort in Cuba and you will get the same service as The Mill, and it will cost you one third of what you pay at this deceptive, rude and arrogantly managed hotel.

The location is good, swimming pool is great, breakfast buffet good, most staff was accommodating, but.....we checked into a room that had not been renovated and it had an overwhelming odor of mold. Kitchen drawers were musty smelling, with visible damp stains. The bathroom was very dated, also with a moldy odor which masked the 'clean" smell. Clearly an older, well used room. We were able to change to a different room which was not a whole lot better. If you should be looking for a restful night's sleep, beware. The bar adjacent to The Mill Resort and Suites, (the windmill building), is not owned by the resort. Of the four nights we spent at the resort, loud, nonstop, thumping music played all night. On our final night, at 4:00 AM we called the front desk about the loud music. They told us the resort does not operate that bar and that the business has the approval from law enforcement to stay open. We were not the only patrons to complain to the resort about this situation but we were offered a different room, at 4:00 AM! That night, the music ended at 6:00 AM.
Even if renovations are completed, consider the location and ask questions about the adjacent bar before you rent rooms.

Stay here if you are on a budget!!!
Check in was easy but lady at the front desk looked annoyed when we checked in. Rooms are clean but dated. The pool is probably the best thing about this resort. To go to the beach you have to take a short shuttle or a 5 minute walk across the street. The only restaurant that the resort had was pretty good and the prices weren't bad. Staff overall was friendly.

The Mill is a great bargain in Aruba if you're happy to just be on the island. The place had become a little "tired", but they have renovated most of the rooms. Some of the rooms still need some work though. The rooms are quite large, and have either a full kitchen or a hot tub in the middle of it. Getting to the beach is a short walk across the street.Hopefully the renovations continue and all the rooms get the updating they need.

So after going over some of the previous reviews, I have come to the conclusion that it depends which room and where you are placed in the building.
My husband and I travel on a regular basis and I can honestly say it it's been a long time since we have stayed in a hotel that was this dirty before!
When we complained, they gave us a card for another room to which was worse, and we walked in the room the toilet lid was someone had urinated in the toilet and left the toilet paper and there was water all over the bathroom floor.
Because we were only there for three days we decided to just put up with it! I am not joking when I tell you I literally wore my flip-flops in the shower because it was so dirty in the room.
Other then the room I found the property itself to be clean and it was nice that it had a restaurant on site.
The location was very good, but I do not think I would NOT stay in this resort again, due to the fact that the rooms were so dirty!
