“GREAT STAY!!”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

My family and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Resort for a week. Very nice place to spend our vacation. Everybody was so nice and very helpful to those of us that were visiting Aruba for the first time. Rooms were very clean and the included breakfast was very good. In fact all the food there was very good. Would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is in a perfect location for walking to bars, restaurants, shops. They have a wonderful breakfast that's included in the price. The pool is fun with a swim up bar and a big slide. The grounds are the best on the island. Rent a palapa for your days on their beautiful beach when you book your room. Otherwise you won't get one. I think that's a big source of frustration for people. The rooms are clean, modern and well kept. Don't worry if you forget something. They have a complete menu of things they will loan you from make up remover, robes, yoga mats, toiletries, you name it. The spa is great. There's a red sail activities desk on site. We booked a sunset sail. Beware that Sundays many things can be closed. Check ahead of time if you are planning dinner reservations or shopping. The streets are bustling and fun at night with shoppers and tourist. What can I say ? Book your ticket !!

The Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort is a well designed, centrally located and properly maintained beachfront hotel. Most of the staff is polite and eager to help with the exceptions of the front desk employees who were not up to the usual Hyatt's high standard. Other than that, all the rest of the hotel staff was pleasant and professional and exceeded my expectations. The location of the property is perfect - right in middle of Palm beach and close to all the shops and restaurants of the high rise area. I personally suggest staying at a Palm beach property if it is your first time in Aruba, but would also advice to explore the island and visit the rest of the awesome touristy spots too. The casino inside the hotel was kind of smokey but this is expected. Also, the gym is very small and not very well equipped but this is not a biggy either. Don't expect a gorgeous view from the hotel rooms or a balcony. However, my room was extremely clean and cute. My favorite part of the hotel is the pool breakfast area where the I ate delicious fresh breakfast for two weeks, surrounded by beautiful black swans begging for a piece of food and cheeky little birds who actually steal some of your food if you leave it unattended or don't cover it. The staff in the restaurant is very helpful and polite. What a wonderful way to start your day in Aruba! I recommend staying at the Hyatt Regency Aruba because this is the most charming and conveniently located hotel on the island in my opinion.

This property is elegance without an overstating of finery. The open air lobby gets you into the island frame of mind from the start. It is a nice hyatt property, very clean and many conveniences. The Hertz rental in the lobby was very nice for renting a mid-size car ($92.00 for 24 hours with full coverage), and the snorkeling/watersport booths on the beach were nice to have right there. The breakfast on the property at the Ruinas Del Mar was wonderful each morning. It was a buffet with omelet and waffle stations. The Mexicana restaurant right beside it was wonderful as well and the tableside-made guacamole was to die for. The beach was nice, although I wish there were more huts available. The situation was confusing at first, but if you want a hut on the beach (very convenient since they all have a table around the center keeping all your stuff elevated from the sand and wind) make sure you put your name on the waiting list for all the days you will be there as soon as you arrive and check in. The $35 a day is worth not having to get up at 6 o'clock each morning to get a hut. They keep about half for "First-come first-serve", and it is a smart system so that every has a chance to get a hut, but if you can, reserving one makes for a nicer, longer sleep. The house keeping staff was very nice. The roomservice was SO very good. If you are like me, and love Coca-Cola (all they sell in the stores and restaurants is Pepsi) room service brought a much appreciated Coca Cola with my filet and oh-so-yummy chocolate lava cake. The room keys are a nice luxury, as you do not have to swipe them and can keep them in your wallet the whole time (the room and elevator have a sensor you hold it up to). The hotel isn't far from the airport (15 minutes?) and is located in the "High-Rise" district. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floors better view. Higher the number on the floor, the closer to the water (ie, levels 1-4 3...

The Hyatt Regency is a great option in context of Aruba (Palm Beach) as a vacation spot. Aruba as an island vacationing destination is a bit dated, mid-tier hotel destination which lacks the higher-end nicer hotels and has a focus on casinos. Aruba is a desert island with an arid, rumpled landscape bristling with long-armed cactuses. The beach and ocean at Palm Beach are an unbelievable, beautiful calm turquoise but don't expect any lush, tropical island or a lot to do on the island other than a massive amount of water sport options. Aruba is a great spot to visit once or twice, not a place I'll be coming back and back to.

The location of the Hyatt Regency in Palm Beach, Aruba really can't be beat. The hotel sits in the heart of Palm Beach and on it's beachfront are located every type of water activity you can imagine. The Hyatt Regency is located at the mid-point of Palm Beach strip of shopping and restaurants and is a short 5-minute walk in either direction to the 2 main areas.

The hotel grounds are well maintained especially given the full capacity when we stayed. There are great family features including two nice pools (one with a swim-up bar), a water slide that the kids loved, shuffleboard lane, a game room with video games, ping pong and air hockey and some iguanas and geckos roaming the grounds. We are very grateful for the Kadushi Juice Bar down by the beach to get a nice assortment of real fruit and green smoothies each day. Additionally there's a great coffee shop with strong coffee and tea we enjoyed each morning.

Get the table-side guacamole at the Mexicado restaurant which is a good option. The Ruinas del Mar has good steaks and seafood but it a bit pricey. Both restaurants are struggling to complete with all the dining options on the strip as they were generally only 50% full any night we were there. The Palms Restaurant serves the pool-side food - we ate the blackened fish tacos almost every day as one of the only options we liked. The Hyatt Regency could benefit by stepping up the quality of food at the Palms.

On the negative side the service was inconsistent depending on the person. Some were great but generally Hyatt could tighten this up as many staff exhibited an apathy to customers. As a Diamond Member, I found the Regency Club staff junior, unprofessional and dismissive. The Regency Club level and it's breakfast are really basic comparable to other Hyatt locations and could use a major upgrade in design and quality.

On our arrival, the Hyatt Regency had screwed up our reservation and didn't have the promised club-level suite which we had booked verbally with a Hyatt representative in the US. They were unable to get our room back although for two of our nights they gave us a better room than the standard room we had to take. The root cause of this issue was the verbal redemption process using Passport Points which in this case introduced human error on Hyatt's booking process. Their email confirmations also don't specify the exact room in enough details to know what you've got. There's an opportunity for Hyatt to optimize this process with better web technology.

Despite the service being average (3), the location/grounds/activities (5) weighted my rating on the Hyatt Regency Aruba up to an overall 4.

Well maintained property. Conveniently located near shopping and restaurants . Staff very polite. Rooms spacious and decorated nicely. Pool area very nice as was beach..only complaint early claim to beach chairs and free huts. People were lining up at 5 am to get lounge chair locations. I'm on vacation I really don't want to be up at 5am to get lounge chair or a shade hut. You can pre reserve huts or tents for a cost. Which is the way we went ..beach staff was wonderful and very helpful. Would recommend this property and would stay here again.

We stayed the Hyatt for 10 days in June 2014. We had a wonderful experience there. Upon arrival we were greeted with champagne,(ice cold water for the kids) and were offered cool towels during the check in process. Our room was very nice and housekeeping went above and beyond to make sure we always had what we needed and kept the room very clean.

The grounds are beautiful! We spent most of our days bouncing between the beach and the pools. The staff down there are very friendly and helpful too. In our opinion, the Hyatt's grounds and beach are the nicest on the strip, with the Ritz Carlton in close second place. I will say that it was a bit annoying that you couldn't ever seem to get one of the floating rafts at the beach, even though they have a "2 hour" limit on them. No one ever brings them back after the 2 hours is up.

Unfortunately, during our stay our daughter had a very painful ear infection that needed treatment. The concierge was so amazing, she had me on the phone talking directly with a doctor within a minute of me explaining our situation to her. The doctor called in a prescription to the local pharmacy and to our surprise the hotel actually arranged a car and driver to take us, and wait while we picked up the medicine! Now that is some great customer service! (Especially since we had only asked them to call us a cab.)

All in all we would definitely stay here again. We had a blast! Next time will be without 2 teenagers though! :-)
