After a very long and cold winter, my husband decided it was time for an island vacation. After much research we decided on the island of Aruba and the Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa, we definitely made the right choice!
It is hard to express in words our experience, as it was exceptional. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival with drinks and all of our crazy "first timer" questions were answered with patience and humor, making us feel right at home. This hospitality and concern for our every want and desire continued from check in to check out.

We did the AI plan and it was perfect for us, never a thought about where we would eat and our meals were always excellent. It was nice when the servers remembered us, what we liked and would make suggestions or bring us things they thought we would like to try.
The staff also conspired with my husband and planned a special 40th Anniversary surprise dinner for me. It will be a special memory and one we will talk about for many years.
Although the beach is beautiful, quiet, never a problem with chairs and there are always drinks and food available, the thing that will always remain with us is the warm, friendly staff and their making us feel at home.
We will be joining with the many other guests who continue to return to Aruba and the Manchebo!

Room Tip: We chose a garden room (57) and really enjoyed our quiet little garden sanctuary. The room was very...

Loved the wedding coordinator Nyoka. She's the best. Highly recommend. From the moment we got there she coordinated with us on when to meet, details of our wedding and specific requests. We were greeted with champagne in our room and a fantastic mojito. Day of the wedding was flawless from photographer to videographer. Thanks all around.

The Manchebo Beach Resort is the perfect destination for honeymooners or anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing getaway. I don't even know how to put our experience here into words, but I'll try:

1) The beach!!: The beach and ocean are absolutely breathtaking, and there's not a bad view from the entire place. We were literally steps away from the beach. The resort is very quiet and peaceful. Being a smaller, low-rise resort, it almost felt like having a private beach (granted, we were there during the slow season in June). No need to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve a space. Plenty of room to stretch out, not tripping over people; you have an actual view of the beach instead of just wall-to-wall people and beach chairs. The sand and water are clear and clean; absolutely beautiful. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

2)The resort: It's a small enough resort that you'll start to see some familiar faces and get to know some of the other guests. We met some great people staying here and they were all raving about the resort as much as we were. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. It wasn't over-the-top fancy but had all the amenities we needed. There was a good-sized fridge and a cooler to bring to the beach, so you can definitely stock up on drinks if you have purchased the all-inclusive package (or if you aren't all-inclusive you can purchase beverages at the nearby shops).

3) The food & drinks: We liked all of the food here. Breakfast was the weakest meal but was decent. I don't want a big, carb-filled meal before heading out to the beach, anyway. They do offer freshly made smoothies which were tasty. Lunch at the Pega-Pega offered your standard burger and sandwich options, along with some Caribbean-inspired dishes like coconut shrimp and fish tacos. Everything was solid here, too. We ate lunch here everyday and never tired of it. We enjoyed our dinners at French Steakhouse and Ike's Bistro. Nice selection of food and everything was prepared well, tasting very fresh. We loved all of the drinks! Great value for the all-inclusive; all name brand liquor (Bacardi, Absolut, etc.). Usually tropical drinks are overly sweet and syrupy, but these were perfect, again, made with lots of fresh ingredients. The bartenders know what they are doing and take great care and pride in the drinks they prepare. My husband only ever drinks Miller Light, yet at Manchebo he raved about the mojitos and enjoyed a variety of other drinks as well. I tried pretty much one of everything and liked them all! Pega Pega is like your neighborhood bar in a tropical setting, and for a more upscale vibe grab a martini at the bar at Ike's after dinner. You can also bring your drinks down to the cushy furniture outside the pavilion for a great view of the ocean at sunset.

4) The service: After the breathtaking view, the service is what makes this place. We truly felt at home here. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we truly felt welcomed. Everyone at this resort, from the front desk to the housekeepers to the servers, is SO genuinely friendly. We really got the impression that the staff at the Manchebo take pride in what they do, love their jobs, and value the guests and want them to have a great time. The staff is extremely friendly and their kindness felt genuine. We were especially impressed with the service of Fanny and Phoebus at the Pega Pega bar and the young man who worked tirelessly to deliver beach chairs and other amenities to guests on the beach.

5) The ambiance: Genuine, relaxed, happy, classy, down-to-earth. This is a nice resort that is clean and well-maintained without that "trying too hard" vibe. My husband is not a sit-on-the-beach kind of guy...and yet he was perfectly content to sit on the beach! Not a lot of action or activities here, or loud club that stays open all night, which are features I liked. If you are craving more excitement, you can take a $9 cab ride to downtown Orjanestad or the high-rise area, then return to your cute room, get a good night's sleep (and sleep in!) and awake on your pristine beach.

6) The special touches: We had the honeymoon package, which didn't cost much more than the regular all-inclusive. This included: 2 free yoga classes in the outdoor pavilion; a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and rose petals delivered to our room; a sunset sail cruise; t-shirts (which were a little cheesy but hey, it's a honeymoon; and every time a staff member saw my husband or I wearing the honeymoon shirt their faces would light up and they'd say "Congratulations! Security guards, housekeepers, maintenance workers--everyone was excited for us!); a couple's massage (the spa was fantastic--one of the best massages I've ever had, and the view and ambiance was wonderful); transfer to and from the airport; and a romantic private dinner on the beach at sunset. Upon arrival we received a freshly made mojito and we were given cute goody bags to take with us on the flight back home. There are robes in the room, a black makeup removal towel, a cooler to bring to the beach, a makeup mirror, hair dryer, refrigerator, safe, and coffee.

Overall, I fell in love with the island of Aruba. Before we left for our honeymoon, my husband, who doesn't like to travel, forewarned me that this was to be a once-in-a-lifetime trip; we were only doing this once. Well, when we were leaving, he was telling everyone that WHEN (not "if," but "when") we return to Aruba, we won't ever consider staying anywhere else but Manchebo. We cannot wait to return...We miss it already!

Thank you for taking the time to write this very detailed review.
We will take the time as well to respond to your great review.

The beach... we at Manchebo are very blessed with our beach. You were not dreaming as our Beach is indeed very beautiful and relax. No need to wake up early to reserve chairs and palapas.

Were glad you liked our room amenities. Manchebo is a boutique Resort that strives to provide our guests a relaxed vacation experience.

Were pleased that you liked our food. We are still working to improve our breakfast buffet, a lot of changes has been done already. Thank you for the compliments about our Restaurants.
We prefer to keep our Cocktails 'Caribbean Style'. The Pavilion is recently decorated with benches and tables to watch the sunset or just to read a book while you hear the sea and feeling a nice breeze at the same time.

Our people will always do their utmost to make our guests stay memorable.
They will make it 'your home away from home'. We found it very important that guest feeling welcome at the moment they arrive until the moment they left.
"Genuine friendly' is something you can't teach or learn it needs to come naturally.
We will treasure your compliments about our staff. We are very proud of them!!

It's very nice of you to mention the special touches. It's the little things that can make a big difference.

Tell your husband that the mojitos are already waiting for him!!!See you soon;)

When we arrived (Honeymooners) we got a cold towel and a perfect ice cold mojito and two t-shirt, one for the bride and one for the groom. A bottle of champagne on ice in the room and a welcome card for us. Very nice gesture! Beautiful and amazing place. The hotel is wonderful and the staff smiling and very friendly. The breakfast excellent. We love it! Everything was perfect like a dream! Good restaurants and bar!

We have stayed at Manchebo three times and we can't wait to go back. It is on the best beach in Aruba. The surrounding hotels look nice, but Manchebo is an excellent value. The staff is always friendly and hasn't changed that much over the years. If you are looking for a lot of action every night, then stay down at the high rises. If you are looking for a peaceful vacation with less people and wide beaches for long walks, than stay at Manchebo!

I went on a yoga retreat here and I have to be totally honest, our stay was not very luxurious. Our room was not very nice (very dark, there was a strange large red stain on the chair when we arrived, the air conditioner wall unit was loud, our safe would randomly break and anyone could open it after attempting 4 times without knowing our code.) Never stepped foot in the "fresh water pool" because it was very small- no one was in it really (the ocean is right there though so I can't blame them). I went with a friend and we were supposed to have two double beds but they gave us a king and a roll-away- which we sent back and then just shared the king sized bed for the week.

The beach is beautiful here and worth it. The towel guys were very sweet and super helpful. The yoga studio is beautiful to practice in but there are a lot of yoga studios around the world that are also beautiful. The breakfast and dinner menu is great- the lunch menu here is not good at all unless you want burgers and fries everyday... I ordered chips and guacamole and since everything on the island is imported the $12 chips and guacamole came from a squeeze packet (not just at Manchebo though, it happened at another restaurant too... the freshest avocado I had all week was from Subway.)

We will review with our team the safe issue.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't get the two double beds. Our Front Desk always do their utmost to honor all rooms request. Unfortunately at that time we didn't have any double beds available and we placed an extra bed.
We do appreciate pointing out the details as indeed we can always do a better job.
