If you travel once every five years, this may seem okay. However, after a honey moon in Tahiti, this is trash. Wifi only works in the lobby, u have to ask for the code every day. Reservations to the "restaurants" have to be made only between 9-12. They don't care If u r on vacation and want to sleep late. All the people hate their jobs and therefore suck at them. We got upgraded which is nice. There are elevators going to the 10th floor only and our room is on the 11th so we had to take the steps. The staff is actually kind of rude, takes 10 min to sit u down and 20 to bring you coffee. Food selection is okay. Beach is nice and so is the pool. But as far as the hotel, it's a huge franchise which doesn't make u feel special at all. I'd never return and would never recommend.

My husband and I travelled to this resort in October 2012. We loved e everything about it. The resort itself is your typical riu palace. Aruba was truly beautiful., it rained each day for a few minutes either during the night or morning. The staff were very accommodating. The taxi into town was 15$ and was worth it to visit little Switzerland jewellery store where they sold duty free Tiffany jewellery. There was also a pandora jewellery store downtown that offered zero taxes. The riu is across the street from a local venders market and various restaurants if you wish to eat off the resort. I would definitely go back to Aruba and the Riu!

We finally made it to Aruba! The weather and winds are consistent. We arrived in the evening and hopped on a bus to the resort. There are dogs roaming freely everywhere, the roads and homes are neat and dutch clean. The hotel is set upon a hill, the walk up and down the hill to get to the front doors is quite a feat, especially if it rains. There is also a steep slope to the elevators so beware of slips.
The room on the 10th floor was great, clean and beautiful. The lower floors were complaining of mildew and mold smell.
The bar was nicely stocked, and the staff paid close attention and supplies plenty of what you consume. The bed was pretty good but pillows were very bad. The view from the 10th floor was amazing, and we took advantage of room service in the morning. We had our coffee on the balcony every morning. Room service made great time. The cleaning staff was thorough. The bartenders were ultra talented and quick!
The casino is filled with stale smoke and on the small side.
The store within the hotel was privately run as well as the spa. The store was not sufficiently supplies and the owner would tell you to go elsewhere. The spa was not up to resort standards I would expect. The massages were standard and the entire spa lacked luxury.
We rented a vehicle and if you want to venture to the desolate north side of the island, make sure you rent a four by four. (watch your tires)
A small car gave us fuel efficiency, we covered the entire island in no time and enjoyed the shoreline in the remote areas.
The riu was using alot of pesticides and there was no sign of any bugs or other. The pool is spectacular and warmer than any pool in Jamaica because of the warmer climate. They serve you drinks around the pool and it quickly became the better choice.
The beach was great but we could not enjoy it to the fullest. People are like scavengers standing their post, first thing in the morning, until they unchain the stacked chairs. I actually scored a hut at 5 a.m. one morning, but had to wait until 7 am to land a chair. If you do get a great spot, it doesnt matter. As the day progresses, people will put their chair less than 6 inches from yours and you all become sardines. At the end of day, there are approximately 15 rows of chairs to the water front. The sand is nice and the water is warm and beautiful, but you need to organize and plan. The bathrooms are quite far from the beach and no one seems to go!
We visited next door at the radisson, and were pleasantly surprised by their grounds. It was lush and jungle like. There were plenty of iguanas and many caged parrots along with many lizards. We loved the radisson property.
Arubas beaches and waterfront is completely public. There is a high rise section, where the riu is situated and a low rise section, where la cabana and other resorts sit. The low rise section is great and less busy. Some places are open until 6 a.m. and it is extremely safe everywhere. Perhaps a little less safe in St. Nicolas judging by the bars on the windows and doors of the businesses. The high rise section feels incredibly safe.
There are so many great places to eat and resonable. I would opt to go for breakfast only option vs. all inclusive. The riu buffet was, hands down, the best buffet with the most options and flavourful of any resort since Grand Lido in Jamaica. The only problem was the salt and Im not sure if they used msg, you may want to check it out if you are sensitive.
The food everywhere is amazing. The shops do not open until late afternoon, which we were not used to. The north side was amazing and we went on the jeep tour. The hummer's looked a little more comfy but the tour was great. The choices are half day and full day with lunch. B55 is where lunch is served and it was ok. A full day is just that. The landscape on the north side was lots of lava rock, cactus, moon like and large waves crash to mold the landscape. It was breathtaking.
You cannot get lost on this island and the 'I LOVE ARUBA' logo is true. We also visited Baby Beach . We went to Daniel's, taste of Belgium, we had uthentic colombian empanadas in St.Nicolas and discovered Aruba has the best of both world's, comercialized sections and desolate natural landscape. You can cover everything in one day. Wherever you choose to stay, it doesnt matter because everything is so close by. Aruba would be the choice over Florida but, there is something very different about Jamaica. The staff in Aruba is expert and extremely good at their job.

Room Tip: 10th floor with a beachfront and pool view has a larger balcony

The Riu has wonderful restaurants. We enjoyed all of them and had time to go back to the Krystal for our last night. The waiters even in the buffet were all friendly and attentive. Of course we rewarded them with tips so they remembered us, what we drank, and so on. The resort became much more crowded and busy near the end of our stay in December, so service may vary with occupancy. I lined up just before 9 am each morning to make reservations for our group of four. I was near the front of the line, never waited long, always got the restaurant we wanted.
Our room had a musty smell. It improved after we sprayed Febreeze on the AC grate and the outflow vent.

Myself and my wife both in our late thirtys had a wonderful holiday at this resort.I looked at the other hotels down the beach and nothing compared at all.Your right on the beach, the views are fantastic and so are the staff.not really for familys as there is not much to do apart from taking in the rays and drinking.the food was great everything there from meat, fish, salad, pasta even a sunday roast which was great and desserts to die for.as an englishman only one thing to moan about yes youve guest it sunbeds get there early as the parasol get taken up very quickly.I even got up at 6am one morning and found the last one.If i was u i would tie a cheap t shirt or leave a bag with a book in it around the stump.this was the only problem,we will go back in the future as we just loved it there.

Feb /2013 - This was our first stay at the Riu in aruba and I have to say the service was excellent, staff was very funny and friendly, buffet was excellent due to having everything you could possibly imagine and we stayed in building B and had a beautiful clean junior suite. This was a two week holiday to remember and we will definitely be back. Tom & Heidi - Canada

Room Tip: request building B as it is closest to the restaurants, good beach acces and the junior suites are b...

We had a great time on this vacation! The hotel was great. We were in a renovated ocienview room. The room was a good size with a sitting area and the washroom was quite nice. The bed was very firm and the pillows are very flat so i recommend bringing yor own pillows if you have trouble sleeping. We enjoyed the balcony that we could sit out on and we liked that our room had a bar fridge that was well stocked. We have stayed at a Sandals property where a balcony nor stocked bar was not included in a oceanview room.

The food on this resort was fantastic! The breakfest buffet was amazing! Lots of choices. One of the best buffets i have had before. The Ala Cartes were also great. Our favourite was the Fusion! You do need to book your reservations for the ala cartes around 8-9am in the morning. I honestly didnt mind. It is an excuse to get up and enjoy the day.

The drink selection was great. One thing about Aruba is the water is AMAZING!! There is a desalinatization plant near by. I am a huge water drinker so i like to be able to drink the water, eat fresh fruit and veggies without getting sick.

The beach is gorgeous. White sand and minimal seaweed. The do have Palapas to sit under for shade but you need to get up very early in the morning to reserve one.

I LOVED that we felt safe to walk around at night off our resort. There was shopping down the street, restaurants and entertainment complex to go to. We had alot of fun at nights doing this. The resort itself didnt have alot of nightly entertainment (which seems to be common at the resorts we have been to) so it was nice to have this option

We did one night go out for dinner at the Flying Fish Bone. It was a good 30 minute cab ride away but worth it. The restaurant was on the beach. Food was amazing. Definately a romantic night out for a special occasion.

Overall, we had a great time and we will definatley be back! I think Riu is great value for your money as it is All Inclusive and has great food. I highly recommend!!
