I took a small vacation with some friends and stayed at the Boardwalk Hotel Aruba. What a wonderful hotel it is. Beautiful and spacious casita's were you really feel that you are on a Caribbean Island. The rooms are surrounded by a tropical garden :). Everything is clean and well maintained. It's whitin walking distance of palm beach where all the restaurants, water sports and shopping locations are located, I definitely wanted to share my unique experience with you.

Dear Selva E,

Thank you so much for your lovely review! It was so nice to read that you love our concept and that you had a wonderful time during your mini-vacation on Aruba! It is an honor to welcome locals who seek to get away from it all by booking a weekend with us! Thank you for pointing out that we are just steps away from bustling Palm Beach, and offer far from it all tranquility here at Boardwalk. It was truly a pleasure hosting you at Boardwalk Hotel and we hope you will be back with us soon!

Sunny greetings,

We stayed in a 2 bedroom casita with four adults for four nights. The casita had plenty of room (great closets!), two lovely bathrooms, and was cheerfully decorated. The staff is extremely helpful, and the grounds are beautiful. The walk to Palm Beach takes about 5 minutes, it's another 5 to get down to MooMba where Boardwalk guests can use beach chairs free of charge.

I thought Palm Beach would be crowded, but in October (Oct 9-13) it was not at all. At times, there were just 10-15 people lounging at MooMba and we had the water to ourselves. Water sports rentals were everywhere - without a car, we had everything we needed for low-key beach lounging.

For good dining, you would want to have a car (at this hotel and any other on Palm Beach). If I return to Aruba, I would definitely stay at Boardwalk again. I also think that it's a great "bang for the buck" at least compared to the Marriott across the street.

Dear Pndenver1234,

Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic review here on TripAdvisor. We are so glad to hear that the four of you had a delightful time on Aruba and at Boardwalk Hotel. We appreciate your feedback with regards to the value for money we offer. You are right, it is indeed recommended for visitors to the island - who want to explore the Island or eat out at our recommended restaurants - to rent a car for at least a day. Even though beautiful Palm Beach, Moomba Beach club and dozens of restaurants, shops and bars are within walking distance, there is so much more to explore on Aruba! Thank you for sharing your tips! We hope that you will come stay with us again very soon!

Sunny greetings,

This trip as our third one to Aruba. So happy that we picked The Boardwalk Hotel! The casita(#3)was spacious...nicely appointed . Plenty of room for us and daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters. The hotel is a pleasant change from the large hotels. Also Kimberly, Stephanie and Alice are extremely helpful and friendly. Girls loved the pool and hammock! Are within walking distance of beach and restaurants. What will make the Boardwalk perfect will be when they can open a restaurant!!! We look forward to that...We shall return!

Dear Sunseekers 4748,

Thank you for choosing Boardwalk for your third trip to Aruba and for sharing your experience with fellow travelers. We appreciate your kind words very much and are so glad that your family and you had a great time staying at Aruba’s smallest hotel! Good to hear that you loved casita number 3, the hammock and our small but pleasant pool! It is our dream to open a restaurant in the near future! We already started serving a variety of breakfasts! We really hope to be able to welcome your family and you back with us soon!

I really wanted to like this place... I booked it MONTHS ahead of time for our last few days of our honeymoon... And then our a Dutch Airline went out of business and our flights were moved a day earlier. We had originally reserved for 3 nights...

I emailed them TWO weeks before our arrival pleading our case HOPING they would understand that we could only stay 2 nights because of the airlines (we were there for 26 hours total)... I sent 3 emails: I got ONE email back of two sentences saying 'ABSOLUTELY NOT'. We HAD to pay for three nights. No discount, no nothing...just a plain 'NO'. I emailed them two more times...and they just ignored my emails.

We came on Sunday...no one at the desk there all day. I guess they don't work every day. The next day we came to ask again...and again...we were told absolutely not because 'they had to look out for their loss of money'. This place isn't about the guest...it's about the money, I guess.

The room we were in? Well it took us 10 minutes to find it because it had no number on it...it's actually just a studio that is attached to another apartment....the door to the other apartment opens...didn't seem safe to me at all...but then again, I didn't try to go in through the door as I didn't want to disturb our 'neighbors'...

Overall...pretty outside...nice trees....but after spending our honeymoon at the most AMAZING places in Curacao, Bonaire and Aruba, this place was has a lot to learn...

Room Tip: DO NOT CHOOSE Room 8B. You will be disappointed.

Dear Katherine K,

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments which are always much appreciated. We are terribly disappointed to hear that your stay with us was not as you expected.

We apologize for not being here to personally greet you on Sunday. Our lobby hours are from Monday until Saturday from 9am until 5pm. After hours, both Stephanie and myself can be reached on our cell phones to help our guests. We apoligize if this information was not clear to you at the time of reserving with us.

I would like to extend an apology for the difficulties you had finding your casita. We were surprised to find out that the driftwood room-number sign, which should have been clearly displayed above your casita’s entry door, is no longer there. We have ordered a new sign. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We take great pride in our customer service. It is our goal to make every guest feel welcome and happy during their stay here at Boardwalk. I spoke into great detail with both Stephanie & Alice (our front desk and reservation team) about your situation, and we went through every email conversation we had from the time you reserved until the day you departed. This is what I found: we received your email with regards to the one night cancellation 8 days prior to your arrival date, upon which we replied within 48 hours after. Our email communication, however, was always friendly and polite. We explained to you our cancellation policy, which holds that cancellations made 14 days or less prior to arrival, and no-shows, incur a 100% penalty (all room nights reserved). Please note, that we always highly recommend our guests to secure travel insurance to protect themselves at the time of placing a reservation.

The reason why we were and are not flexible when it comes to collecting fees for last minute cancellations and no-shows is because we are a small, independently owned business, and have high demand. Most other (and larger) independently owned hotels on the island hold the same cancellation policy.

However, we do always look for a solution for our guests who are confronted with a last minute cancellation and did not take a travel insurace. Namely, we open the cancelled nights into all reservation systems so all partners and guests across the world have the possibility to book these nights. If re-booked we inform the guests who cancelled and hence they are re-imbursed for the amount the room was re-booked for.

You booked our smallest, but most charming, studio casita. It is true that it is a studio, not a one bedroom casita (which is a different casita type we offer). Our studio casita is actually part of our original coconut plantation house and is connected to a two bedroom casita. This way it can be rented as both a three bedroom casita or as a two bedroom casita and a studio casita.

The connecting doors are each foreseen of a special hospitality door handle, allowing them to be opened from one side only. Moreover, the connecting door on the side of the two-bedroom remains locked by means of deadbolt lock when the units are rented separately. Hence, opening the door on one side will lead to a closed and locked door on the other side. Hence, no possibility to enter the other casita. In our online room description of the studio casita we do highlight the possibility of renting the studio together with the adjacent two bedroom casita. Once again, we apologize if this was not clear to you at the time of booking.

We are very sorry you did not enjoy our hotel but certainly hope the shortcomings you experienced at Boardwalk Hotel Aruba will not diminish your memories of our lovely island.

Respectfully yours,
Kimberly

We booked only a day before we arrived and thankfully the people at Boardwalk were so kind to help us for 1 night. Unfortunately they were fully booked the next couple of days, but they helped us trying to find another special place to stay. They also arranged a diner reservation for us and gave us a couple of very nice options to experience the local community.
Our casita was very nice and clean, it would be perfect for us to actually live there!!
It is perfectly situated in a relaxed and quiet place but only a few steps away from the beach.
Next time in Aruba we will definately stay at Boardwalk again!

We went to aruba for our honeymoon and wanted something unique and personal. We knew that aruba has many wonderful restaurants to experience and that going to a grocery store was not going to be a problem. This was our main reason for choosing boardwalk, you get a huge kitchen and BBQ with a beautiful patio to enjoy the meals you make. The staff are very friendly and helpful with places to check out on the island. They will set you up with whatever kind of experience your looking for :) Palm beach is right around the corner - great place to try out some water sports and everything else is within decent walking distance or short drive (car rental is super reasonable for the week) great experience- wishing we were still there!

When we were looking for accommodation on Aruba, we first thought we would go with one of the large chains! My girlfriend then found Boardwalk and I was immediately convinced and it was the best decision we made for Aruba!
We had Casita Nr. 4 and it was just perfect! Situated in a lush and beautiful garden, we had our own terrace, a nicely decorated living room and a large bedroom! We always were looking forward to returning from the beach to our cosy casita! It's a short walk to the beach and the beach access on Mamboo Beach Club was never a problem and for getting around we used the busses stopping nearby! It's been a great experience in hospitality as well by the owners - we got beach towels each day and also snorkelling equipment and with any questions, we could always turn to the reception and got perfect advice! Next time we are on Aruba, we will for sure return to Boardwalk!
