“Wonderful stay at the Casa del Mar Beach Resort”
Reviewed 15 July 2011

When they say: "Casa del Mar Beach Resort, located on one of the finest beaches in Aruba".. they really mean it. The beach is crystal-clear, very clean and there's plenty palapa-huts for the families. The beach itself is like an attraction, reminds me of the giant wave-pool at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, because of the waves. Don't freak out, they are not that high, otherwise Casa del Mar Beach Resort wouldn't allow people in it. A lot of teenagers entered the water with their surf-boards, to practice their surfing-skills. I wouldn't recommend to go swimming with babies. You can go visit baby beach instead. Baby Beach is a shallow, sheltered man-made lagoon located in Seroe Colorado, on the southeast end of the island of Aruba. If you come visit Aruba you really need to go for a swim at Aruba beaches, because they are the best of the Caribbean.

The swimming pool is not that WOW. There's no water-slide, no waterfalls, no incredible-design. It's simply a swimming pool, but what matters most is that it's very clean. Every morning I saw staff members cleaning the main pool, the kids pool and the two jacuzzi's, which is very good.

Something I missed a lot is good-entertainment at the pool deck. I wouldn't recommend you "Casa del Mar Beach Resort" if you are looking for 24/7 entertainment. There was only BINGO, water aerobics and background music.

We stayed in a Presidential two-bedroom suite. It was very comfortable, clean and there is a nice fully-equipped kitchen. The beds were okay, but what I really loved was the bathrooms, they were luxurious. The rooms are also PURE Allergy Friendly Rooms.

Those were the highlights of our stay at Casa del Mar Beach Resort. We enjoyed our stay at Casa del Mar Beach Resort and we are looking forward to return very very soon.

I, my wife and 18 year old daughter just returned from a phenomenal experience in Aruba. We stayed at the Casa Del Mar resort in a Presidential two bedroom condominium. I don't know what has been written in the reviews about it but if it wasn't great then it wasn't accurate. The place was clean, spacious, and other than poor lighting, was one of the nicest RCI places we have stayed at over the last eight years. The staff was great. Ask for Anthony. He will set you off in the right direction from the beginning no matter where you want to go or what you want to do. I might suggest to use the public bus for transportation. It will take you anywhere a cab will take you or anywhere you want to go on the commercial side of the island and the cost is only $1.30 per ride and the bus stop is right across the street from the Casino which is right across the street from the resort.
The evening entertainment and Friday afternoon dance lessons at Matthew's restaurant added to the fun of staying at the Casa Del Mar resort. Rest assured Casa Del Mar is a great place and we discovered you cannot go to Aruba without having a great time.

We stayed here two weeks last year and loved it. Not so much this year. The beach is very eroded and rocky. Many exposed boulders. There are even two wide open drainage pipes. No effort is made to even clean up the beach on a daily basis. We called RCI to let them know we were diappointed in our trade. They called us back twice - and no one from Casa Del Mar gave us the message. Housekeeping was friendly. Everyone seemed mopey at this place. Service at Matthews was 'eh. Like they had no interest in being there. We will never be back.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa del Mar so much that we will be back. Our one-bedroom unit was comfortable with pretty much every thing we needed – and the housekeeping staff cleaned it daily. We had our morning coffee on a balcony that overlooked the pool.

We came to Aruba, though, for the beach and Casa del Mar did not disappoint us. A staff member rakes the beach each morning, removing any seaweed or litter. The resort has plenty of chairs. The huts are first-come, first-served. We were able to get one daily by being there by 8:00 AM and again late in the afternoon after taking a break from the sun, which we watched set a few times. You can exchange your beach towels once daily from 9:00AM until 6:00PM.

We had a terrific meal at Matthew’s to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. Zheng, our server, handled our order superbly. We enjoyed the jazz/martini evening afterward, but had little room for the drinks because the dinner portions were so large.

We took advantage of the Pelican Adventure desk in the lobby, where Lenie helped us reserve the Cave and Beach Tour as well as a snorkeling trip. Victor, our tour guide, gave us an excellent overview of Aruba. Robertson led his snorkeling crew in giving us a lesson on how to use the equipment and showing us a good time with rum drinks and dancing afterward. We snorkeled at two sites, including one over a sunken German ship scuttled as World War II began.

Pizza Bob’s (right next to the resort) is a good place to go for relatively inexpensive meals. We tried the pizza as well as the hamburgers. The restaurant offers Happy Hour specials from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Pick up a coupon book near the Bell Captain’s station for a free draught Balashi or a glass of wine. Christina, our server both nights, was friendly. She remembered us and what we liked to drink. A family group sings an assortment of songs on Friday evenings.

Alhambra, a small casino, is an easy walk. Stops near the casino allow you to pick up a bus going either into Oranjestad or to the high rise resort area or further along to the Malmok or Arashi beaches. It costs $1.30 one-way per person. We read that you needed exact change, but the driver did make change. Two super- markets are a short distance away. The best way to get there is to take a shuttle through the Divi resorts; just tell the driver that you are going to the market. He will let you off across the street. The drivers don’t charge, but we gave them a tip each time.

The Palmera Rum Factory is a short walk from the markets, as is a flea market, which is open on Saturdays and Sundays. You can taste various flavored rums at Palmera’s. They will bubble wrap anything that you want to take home with you. We suggest that you stop at Lecca Lecca if you get into Oranjestad. The gelato is delicious and the service friendly.

My husband and I just returned from a 1 week stay along with 3 other family members. We had a 2 bedroom Presidential Suite through an RCI exchange. We stayed in room 1115, which has not undergone renovations yet. The room was a little dated but it was fine for us with plenty of room for 5 adults. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were comfortable. There were 3 TV’s and 2 bathrooms. They also have daily maid service which was excellent, they even do the dishes. We went to the beach each day which was right outside our doors. We went to the market for breakfast and lunch items and ate out for dinner each night. We went to Pizza Bob’s twice; Matthew’s twice; The French Steakhouse twice and Windows at the Divi Golf, which was my favorite. We went downtown for shopping and had lunch at Iguana Joe’s which was also good. My only complaint would be that they don’t take “old” $100 bills for some reason. When we went to pay at the French Steakhouse and also to pay our room taxes neither would take because they said the date on the bill was too old. We are already planning a return trip to Casa del Mar. Please feel free to email me if you have specific questions.

Just came back from a one week stay and it was just great. First time in Aruba and the Casa Del Mar was just great. As stated in the last review the hotel sits between the High rise section and the old town which worked for us. A cab ride to either end was all of 10$ plus a casino was right across the street with 5$ tables!!!!

The beach was just OUTSTANDING. A really nice time and looking forward to getting back!!

We just got back from a fabulous, week-long trip to Aruba, where we stayed at the Casa Del Mar Beach Resort. We have been back for 2 days and already are thinking of returning next year. We found the resort to be very well maintained, clean, super-friendly, great for kids. What's more, the daily cleaning service was tops. They made the beds, mopped the floors, cleaned our dishes, tidied up furniture, etc.

Casa Del Mar is located in the Low Rise (i.e., older) section of the vacation resorts; we found this to be a great place for a family trip. The Resort is mid-way between "downtown" (where the cruise ships come in and the touristy shops and nice jewelery stores are (hands down, Shiva's is the best)), and the High Rise (i.e., newer) section of the resorts are (where you find the mega resorts and new high-end shops). While you will find fancier pools and shopping among the High Rises, we found that Casa Del Mar offered a beautiful pool area, and was adjacent to huge, magnificent beaches. The best part, however, was that we didn't need to deal with the throngs of people from the various High Rises trying to squeeze onto the same size beach. Because the Low Rises, like Casa Del Mar, are much smaller than the High Rises and, thus, have much lower population density, we found them to be much quieter, relaxing and roomy and, on a few days, we were the only ones IN the pool and had a huge stretch of beach all to ourselves. Now THAT is paradise. Another benefit to Casa Del Mar was that the 2 bedroom unit was very quiet with plenty roomy for parents with 2 kids that needed their own rooms. The 2 bedroom unit offered a useable kitchen (which was important to us), a large dining room table, a comfortable living room, two very large bedroom and 2 large bathrooms. Of course, the place had a great balcony . . . in our case, looking over the pool. Another benefit was that with "old style" construction (i.e., thick concrete), the units were very quiet. We never heard anything from any of our neighbors.

If there are any down-sides to Casa Del Mar they are threefold: 1) most days and nights there is something going on at the pool and/or restaurant/bar (e.g., water aerobics, bingo, karioke, live music, etc.) . . . so sometimes it was a little noisier outside than we would have liked; 2) you will need to take a taxi (or rent a car) to get to most restaurants and/or shopping; and 3) because of where it sits on a point along the coast, every few years the beach directly in front of the Resort all but washes away. This was one of those years. This being said, a walk 100 feet to the left or right places you on a huge, beautiful, quiet beach . . . so we did not find this to be an issue.

This was a great place for a great vacation. We would go back without reservation.
