Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club
Ranked #10 of 24 Hotels in Palm - Eagle Beach
Certificate of Excellence

In general, Aruba is the best island in the Caribbean. Always great weather. High 80"s with tradewind blowing. Little rain. Too far south for hurricanes. Big white, sandy beaches.

Everyone speaks English and they genuinely want to help you. That is the Aruba culture. The US $ accepted everywhere. Consider it the 5st state. Too many good restaurants to count. You would have to work very hard to get a bad meal on the island.

Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club along with the Surf Club next door are timeshare resorts. Very nice furnished apartments. If you can rent a timeshare, I recommend the Ocean Club over the Surf Club. The Surf Club has over 3 times as many units without 3 times as much pool area or beachfront.

The Marriott Aruba Resort hotel is next door to the Ocean Club and is a first class hotel with a casino. Besides poolside eating at each building, the hotel has 3 restaurants and the Ocean Club has one. Eat dinner on the beach at sunset. It's very special.

Our first trip to Aruba was in August 2009 and we enjoyed the island so much we returned in June 2010. Our first stay was at the other end of the strip of high rise hotels and we perceived we would enjoy being at the other end of the high rise hotels due to having closer access to a greater variety of restaurants.

The resort is fine, accomodations are great for a family. We were on an Interval Exchange and please be aware that the policy for this resort is that these customers receive the lowest floor available in the resort. Seemed a bit ridicous that the Surf Club pool was not available to Ocean Club customers but frankly the Ocean Club pool was more relaxing anyway.

Unfortunately, although the resort had many stores/restaurants we were not as close to the restaurants and other hotels as we had perceived. Especially because the sidewalk on the beach ends at the Holiday Inn and you need to walk through the sand/beach chairs for a bit before returning to a sidewalk in front of the Marriott resorts.

The beach at this end of the strip is far inferior to the other end of the strip. The water was sticky from the fuel of the boats coming and going between the swim areas and the off shore snorkeling was not existent. Depending on your preferences this can be important. At the Divi Phoenix the water was clear, there was no boat activity and the sea life was abundant. For us, this made the difference in one resort over the other. In addition, the prices at the Marriott were approximately 25% higher for food and drinks from the other end of the high rise hotel strip.

Highlight of the trip was snorkeling with Blue Melody. The captain and team were very accomodating and the cheese sandwichs were great.

overall the stay was nice at the marriot in aruba. However, the electricity went off one day early in the morning till midnight, the staff of the hotel were all hiding and people were getting very upset, screaming all over etc. they could have done a better job in notifying the hotel guest, providing flashlights etc..

Traded our week @ Tahiti Village Las Vegas for our second stay here in Aruba. The Ocean Club is in a great location, beautiful beaches, convenient to shopping & dining. The rooms were impeccably maintained & had all the conveniences of home for cooking-entertaining in your room. The resort is family friendly or a great get away for your significant other. The only place I would want to stay in Aruba would be here or its sister property the Surf Clubnext door.

MY wife and I stayed here at the Marriott Aruba Ocean Club via our Interval Internation Timeshare program. For the past 4 years we have been coming to Aruba in October for our holiday; 3 trips to the Downtown Marriott and one horrible stay at La Cabana. This year we decied to venture uptown to the Highrise section of Aruba and stay at the Ocean Club; what a difference a mile makes. This facility is finishing at 10 year renovation project and we have to say that the work they have done is amazing. Our room - a one bedroom - was excellent. A large dining table, new kitchen (we didn't use it except for the coffee maker), good size couch, new flat screen tv's and of course the most comfortable bed in the world - The Marriott Bed (same as those in the Full Service Hotels). Check-in was a breeze; staff was very accomodating and the ground were well kept. Beach was beautiful; you are able tto reserve a cabana at no cost and the staff there is more than willing to help you. Pool was well kept and clean. You are able to use the other resort facilites at the Surf Club and Marriott Resort as well but we kept to the Ocean Club. Food was excellent - would especially recommend Simply Fish (on Marriott Resort Property) for dinner - make reservations for 6:30 to catch a great sunset on the beach. This resort is the one to choose if you don't have children - if you do - got to the Surf Club. Overall this was one of our best holidays in Aruba.

Stay here! The Ocean Club is where it's at in Aruba. You have the beach steps away, an awesome Casino steps away, and all the great places to eat a short walk away! Don't worry that the Surf Club has a lazy river.....you won't miss it when you are here in the nicer quieter resort...the Ocean Club. The rooms are 5 star in my opinion. We stayed here on our honeymoon and it was perfect. The staff are awesome and very helpful. The casino is in the Marriott next door with a walkway leading right to it. $5 blackjack was my favorite but my wife liked the slots. Whatever you do DON'T rent a jeep from American Rental Car.....worst experience ever! Here are 10 things you must do in Aruba:
1) Relax on the beach for at least half of your trip...you deserve it
2) Rent a Jeep and drive yourself to the Natural Pool.....half the fun is getting there!
3) Rent a Jeep and drive to Baby Beach to go snorkeling...swim out past the rocks and you are in your very own Aquarium!
5) Go into town for a day or a 1/2 day
6) Eat at Rembrandt's!!! Best food and best prices on the Island (Huge Filet Mignon for $20...no joke)......the bacon hamburger is awesome......it is right behind the Hard Rock
7) Rent a Jeep and go to the Lighthouse, the Caves, and just find a secluded beach
8) Eat dinner at Passions on the Beach...it isn't that expensive and it is for sure worth it!
9) Gamble at the Stellaris Casino while your wife gets an awesome spa treatment
10) Stop by Charlies Bar in San Nicholas for a drink....fun place

The gift /food shop at the hotel is not much more expensive than the supermarket on the island. Actually the Guiness is only $2.75 USD which is a steal!

Have fun and wear sunscreen!

Just returned last night from our fourth Aruba trip and could not wait to post here about our awesome stay!

We arrived on Sunday September 12th and were greeted at the airport entrance by the famous Bully taxi driver. His smiling face was holding up a sign with our name to transport us to the Ocean Club. He turned on the radio so we can listen to some local and American music by one of the island radio stations... As we were listening, the dj then proceeded to say hi and give a shout out to Bully and mentioned our names to welcome us to Aruba...How awesome is that! What a way to start our vacation!!!!!

We arrived at the Ocean club around 2:00 pm to find out that the room was not ready yet-we had expected this since check in time is at 4 pm. We had an awesome lunch at the Pavillion bar along with some Slippery Monkey drinks and walked along the beach for a bit. We went back at 3:30 and our room was ready. We rented a two bedroom villa on the second floor. We were so surprised when we walked in, it is completely renovated and magnificent!!!!! There were 3 flat screen tv's, one in each bedroom and one in the living room. The kitchen was filled with all the cooking amenities that you would need if you wanted to dine in. Each bedroom was spacious. The bathrooms were big and beautiful!

We dined in the first night bringing back food from Champions- all good stuff. We got a bunch of appetizers and called it an early night since we were tired from the travelling that day.

The rest of the days consisted of our own schedule- wake up, eat breakfast from the downstairs cafe, go to the beach, eat lunch on the beach along with lots of Balashi's and fruity mixed drinks. Note:Aruba Ariba drinks are a must but drink with caution as they will creep up on you-take it from someone who knows! After a full beach day, we would go over to the pool for a little while, then into the 20 person hot tub, then dip back into the pool before heading back upto our room for a little r&r before dinner.

We did eat in at the hotel a few nights but also dined at some of the best restaurants.
For a decent priced and delicious meal, Smokey Joe's is a must for their ribs. All four of us ate like kings for about $20 each. Tip-Tuesday nights is all you can eat ribs night! Well worth it!
El Gaucho steak house is the best for Argentenian beef! We were so stuffed and the steak was amazing! You have got to eat there!
Madame Janette's is by far our favorite restaurant on the island. The ambiance and food cannot be beat. I had the best surf and turf there. Also, their crabcakes are the best!!

For a night out on the town- we did the Kuko Cunooko(spelling?). This is a big colored bus that picks you up from your hotel and brings you to different bars on the island. Yep, its crazy but so much fun! The age group ranged from 18 to about 65. We all had a blast!!!!!

Our friends said that they will never go to another island besides Aruba after this! I completely agree! Can't wait for Aruba 2011!!!!!!!
