Buffam's Tropical Haven
Reviewed 12 October 2009

My girlfriend and I decided to stay at Buffam's during our vacation to Aruba. What a great decision. Buffam's Tropical Haven was an amazing place that we hope to return to one day.

The owners, Rick and Sherrie, are fantastic hosts, were extremely helpful, and accommodating. On several occasion they went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we wanted. The house is very decorative with bright colors, palm trees, coral and an occasional lizard on the roof. Our room (the double) was extremely spacious with 2 queen sized beds, a kitchenette, couch and dining room table. The bathroom was spacious as well with a walk in shower. The only downside was the lack of warm water - although we showered at the end of the day so the cool water was refreshing. All the suites are separate from the main home so it is more like an apartment rather than a bedroom. The pool is very nice and clean, there are several lounge chairs about as well as a grill that we used several times. Each morning Sherrie prepared a tasty breakfast that we ate on the patio while socializing with Rick and the other guests. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and Sherrie was kind enough to accommodate her. She also recommended several veg friendly spots to each on the island. Although, many nights we ate cooked dinner in our room and ate on the patio.

The location is a little off the beaten path, so a vehicle rental is a necessity. It takes about 2 minutes to drive to the nearest grocery store, Ling & Sons (very nice grocer) and 5 minutes to Eagle Beach. We recommend renting a Jeep so that you can experience the remote locations on the island.

Some of the places we recommend - natural pool (bring snorkeling gear), Baby Beach (perfect beach for swimming, if you go outside the bay there is good snorkeling, pet cemetery (just south of Baby Beach - it's a site to see), Snorkel at Malmok Beach (don't buy the package - just drive there and go yourself and save lots of $).

We had a couple of friends who went during the same time as us to one of the all inclusive resorts and they felt like they wasted a lot of money because there is so much to see and do in Aruba outside of the resorts. This is a great island with friendly people and so much to see and do.

Sherrie and Rick had us feeling like we were staying with old friends rather than a bed and breakfast.

We stayed here for most of our first trip to Aruba. We loved our stay. Rick and Sherrie are great hosts and it was always fun recapping our activities with them. They shared great tips and live a short distance from Eagle Beach which was our favorite beach. Our stay was truly enjoyable.

First timers to the island and what a wonderful stay we had with Rick and Sherrie! We felt like family from the first day. All of our many questions answered even if it was the same question. Each day we had breakfast together (Sherrie's a great cook!) and coffee was always quick as soon as we sat down .Rick even got into our rental car and gave us a tour of the island so that we could relax and not worry about getting lost. All reservations were made for us, they new exactly who to call. By the end of the week we were calling Rick and Sheerie "mom and dad" because they would be waiting for us when we returned at night to talk about our many adventures in Aruba. I was sad when I had to say goodbye but cant wait to bring my children back next year.

Living in Curacao and wanting a weekend getaway from our partners, a girlfriend and I (28/42 yr s) were looking for a place to stay but wanted to be out of the main touristy part of Aruba.
We were fortunate to find Buffams Tropical Haven on-line. So after reading the reviews we decided to go ahead and book.
We couldn't be happier in the choice that we made.
Rick and Sherrie undoubtedly made the break awesome, they go so far out of their way to make your stay relaxing and very enjoyable.
There really is no need to look any further when deciding where to stay when visiting Aruba this is the place!!!.. Great for all the family.. Being situated reasonable close to many amenities (including water park, restaurants,beaches.. it is just a perfect bit of paradise a real hidden gem!!
The rooms have every thing you may need for your vacation and are extremely clean and very comfortable.
It really is a Haven.. .The only down side from our point of view is that we did not stay longer .. but we will be back!!
Thank you Rick and Sherrie x From Rush and Laura xx
We will certainly be coming back to stay at Buffam's Tropical Haven!

The only negative we have to say is: we only had 8 days as guests of the Buffam's Tropical Haven. The accomodations were exceptional, their hospitality something to write home about and the service Sherrie and Rick provided far beyond any expectations. We felt like we stayed with family. We felt like we became part of their family the minute we entered the front gate. It was comfort at its finest at a price that was well within the enjoyment of any traveler. The location was within easy reach of any destination on the island. Sherrie & Rick, we were honored to be your guests for eight days. Should the opportunity arise for us to return to Aruba, Buffam's Tropical Haven will be our choice for accomodations. We will certainly extend this recommendation to anyone who is planning a trip to Paradise Island. I certainly can understand why so many former guests return to you.
Thanks for everything.

Karin and I stayed with Rick & Sherrie Buffam at Buffam's Tropical Haven for our third visit. In our opinion, this is the best value in Aruba. Comfortable accommodations, very clean, extremely friendly hosts, and a great location 5 minutes from Eagle Beach make the Tropical Haven a real find. The only way you could feel more at home in Aruba would be to buy your own place. This is a quiet neighborhood setting far from the glitz of the high rise hotels where you get a real feel for Aruba. We recommend Tropical Haven for a totally relaxing visit to Aruba.

We stayed at the Tropical Haven for 6 days in June of 2009 and found the place to be PERFECT!. Quiet and convienent to grocery shopping, hotels and beaches. With the complimentary breakfast thats included, and the hospitality Rick and Sherie offer, its the perfect place to unwind and relax , without the cost and crowds of a major hotel . Now that weve experienced first hand the Haven hospitality , we will always come back on our future visits. Rick and Sherie were great! It felt like we were staying with friends. I would highly recommend staying at the Tropical Haven. And did I mention that the beds were very cozy. We sleep like KIngs!
