We had a good trip to Aruba. Jardines del Mar was a good home base -- a quick walk to the beach but much more affordable than beachfront. We like to explore different beaches and sights every day when visiting islands, so we prefer not to do an all-inclusive and like to make several meals at "home". We rented a Jeep, which worked extremely well for us. Things we liked about the condo: good location, great size, comfortable beds, large master closet, great patio furniture, A/C worked well, nice pool area and landscaping, a cooler to take to the beach, ice maker at the pool for filling the cooler. Things that could have been better: poorly outfitted kitchen -- only one sharp knife, only one hot pad, no grilling utensils, no cookie sheets or baking dishes, peeling cabinet facing. No hot water, but this was fixed a day after we inquired about it. Wicker chairs in living room are not comfortable, not enough lighting in dining room and living room, 2 of the 4 beach chairs (camp chairs really, not beach chairs) were broken. Our last day, the lights over the bathroom vanities were fixed. Marjorie did apologize for the delay on that, and I do understand it's hard to coordinate maintenance from afar. We misunderstood access to the washing machine (didn't realize it was only for stays more than a week, but I guess that's our fault). Overall, we weren't there that much so it worked fine for our needs. Note about Aruba: it's extremely windy! Sand pelts you and covers you in minutes if you're flat on the beach. Also, the sun is very strong! Wear lots of sunscreen and reapply often!
