“Wow!”

This is truly a great restaurant. Not large or opulent, but the food is great, along with good service. We had several different wait staff check on us during the evening. I started with the appetizer portion of crab risotto. It was creamy, but yet firm. It had sufficient crab meat to justify the name "crab risotto." The entree was one of the best seafood dishes I have had, sautéed red snapper, with crab meat sauce. The snapper was incredibly fresh, cooked perfectly and the sauce put the dish "over the top." My wife started with the crab cakes with sweet chili and ginger. She pointed out to me the large chunks of crab in the dish. She said the appetizer along with the Rockfish special were superb. This is a small restaurant with obviously a very talented chef. Reservations would seem to be your best bet.

“Good, not sure what all the fuss is about.”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

We visited here in July. The food was nice but nothing amazing. We also had a 40 minute wait for our main course, was told this is because they cook everything fresh. The menu is limited and small. Was nice to visit but wont be back.

“Superb experience!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Reservations are a "must". We attempted to make reservations for the same evening (Friday), but the earliest they could accommodate us was Monday. It was worth waiting for. The food was spectacular, great service, and you weren't rushed. We enjoyed watching folks who were dining outside come in and exchange "hats" they could wear while dining - an overall friendly place!

“Amazing food in a casual setting”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The food here is phenomenal. We went on a Saturday evening without reservations, and got a table outside without a wait. The atmosphere was casual, although quite a few of the other diners were dressed quite neatly (we, in contrast, were in shorts and t-shirts, but it didn't feel uncomfortable, either). We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops, the crab cakes, and the venison special with a calvados reduction. All were divine-- it was probably the best venison of my life! It was a truly an unforgettable meal.

“Ahoy Sailor”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

This is located in the Mariner’s Club and I understand the proceeds of Mad Hatters goes towards the Seamen’s Mission; an excellent charity.

Popped in without a reservation and were readily accommodated despite it being quite busy. The printed menu is a little limited but there is an extensive, interesting choice from the daily specials; and remarkably all totally recalled by the waiter. Good, but not an exceptional standard and perhaps shade pricey for what it offered, but in a good cause..
