My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary (a staycation) at Newstead Belmont Hills. This property ranks as one of the best on the island with breathtaking views of the City of Hamilton and the harbour. The service was excellent, food was very good. Our stay was wonderful from start to finish.

My wife and I took our first trip to Bermuda earlier this month and opted to stay at this hotel as it had good rates and looked like an excellent hotel from other trip advisor reviews.Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this beautiful island though there were a few minor issues with the hotel which stopped me giving a 5 star rating.I'll deal with the positives first. The complementary shuttle from the airport was a real bonus. The staff at check in were very efficient and friendly. Our room was very spacious, the bathroom was large and well equipped, and the huge balcony had a great view of Hamilton, just across the harbour. The complementary ferry from the hotels own dock to Hamilton was also a bonus,as was the shuttle to the Coco Reef hotel with access to its own superb beach. The hotels pool was also really good and the fact that it was heated was a bonus as early April can be a bit breezy and cool in Bermuda. We had dinner in the hotels French restaurant one night and the food was superb, though as with everything in Bermuda it was expensive. Now I'll deal with the negatives, though in fairness these issues wouldn't put us off using this property again.Firstly the wardrobe was far too small and needs replacing with a unit more befitting a classy hotel. My wife likened it to the furniture in the Rossiya hotel in Moscow where we stayed many years ago which looked as if it had come from a house clearance sale. One night, after a long day sightseeing,we opted for a snack and a cold beer in the hotels l'eau bar only to be told it was closed for a private function.Had we known this we would have stayed in Hamilton. In the end we got a cab to a local diner as we couldn't be bothered to get changed for dinner. This irritated both of us a bit,but I guess it was no big deal. The other minor gripe concerned the return shuttle from the Coco Reef hotel. We were told the shuttle would arrive in 15 minutes but it took nearly 50 to arrive.Had we known this we would happily have had another dark n'stormy in the bar while we were waiting.Communication therefore needs some work doing on it.We accept that sometimes things happen outside the hotels control but this was unnecessary. So there you have it.A few minor improvements and this hotel could be outstanding.

I've travelled to Bermuda several times in the last year for work, staying at the Fairmont Princess and Southampton Fairmont. After being somewhat dissapointed in the rooms with both those hotels, and finding myself unable to book a room at the Fairmont Princess, I tried the Newstead. The rooms here are 10x nicer than any other room I've stayed at in Bermuda. They are huge, modern, and don't smell musty. For business travellers, it is a quick ferry ride to Hamilton at a ~25% discount to the Fairmont Princess. I would catch the 7:50 ferry, stop at Dangilini's for coffee right by the ferry terminal in Hamilton, and be at my desk at work by 7:59. Amazing.

My wife accompanied me on my most recent trip in March 2014, and she really enjoyed the hotel and the ferry access. We did end up taking cabs to several locations (and to Hamilton with the hotel ferry not running on Sunday) since there's not a lot to do at the hotel itself. While they offer a shuttle to the beach, we enjoyed Horseshoe Bay way more than the one that the shuttle goes to. If we'd had our kids with us, I'd probably be really torn between the convenience to the beach that other hotels offer and the great rooms/pool that Newstead offers. One thing I haven't taken advantage of at the Newstead is playing golf. They say you get a free round of golf per day you stay, which could be a huge benefit if you can make that happend.

I was travelling solo for a couple of days of golf and chose this resort with its relationship to Belmont Hills Golf Club. The resort amenities present well but what most impressed me was the focus on service. From the moment when you exit the airport and are met by the complentary pick up to the hotel until I left the staff was most gracious. The shuttles to the golf course are on demand, reception at bopth the hotel and golf course were excellent. The restraunt staff attentive without being over bearing. All to be expected given the price point of the resort but not all resorts can actually deliver.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the free shuttles and complimentary airport pick up and return and don't be af...

From the moment we arrived we were superbly taken care of. The hotel itself was drop dead gorgeous and the rooms were well appointed. The view from the room was sooo relaxing to get up to. The advice from the desk on things to do and see was very helpful and it was surprisingly easy to get back and forth to Hamilton.

Room Tip: Our family had rooms in a few different locations and they were all wonderful. Try to avoid being o...

This is a lovely hotel. It sits opposite Hamilton and has a great view of Hamilton Harbor. The large balcony was so inviting that we did not want to leave to go anywhere! We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that was very well outfitted. The master bathroom was great with an amazing tub. The living area very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. Nice pool area too! We did not eat here so I cannot comment on that. The hotel has a ferry to Hamilton that is so convenient and free. We stayed in four resorts while in Bermuda and this was my favorite.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor!

We loved our stay at the Newstead! We were given a one bedroom suite on the top floor. The suite was beautiful. We loved the hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings and the double balcony overlooking the harbor. All of the employees were super friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was top notch. Our housekeeper, Asha, (sp?) was the sweetest, kindest lady. My husband and son enjoyed the golf course every day. It was so nice to get a free round of golf each day of our stay. The Newstead ferry to Hamilton ran in the mornings and then again in the late afternoon. We also used the free shuttle to the beach facilities at the Coco Reef and the beach there was beautiful. The pool is small but has a wonderful view. For the price we paid with all the services included, this hotel was a great deal.
