“Can't wait to return”
Reviewed 22 May 2014

A month after our visit, we still can't stop raving about the Newstead. The property is beautiful and immaculate. Our 1BR suite was huge, with plenty of room for our three-year-old to have his own space (and bathroom) and us to have access to a bathroom and balcony without disturbing him. An ample kitchen let us cook to save some money and hassle, though we did have some amazing meals at Beau Rivage. We did use the beach shuttle and enjoyed the facilities at Coco Reefs as well.

On the weekdays we were there, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Since many guests are there for business, you don't see them between 8 and 5. One unfortunate part of the business clientele is that the ferry caters to their hours, so if you want to go grab lunch in Hamilton, for instance, you're stuck taking a taxi.

Staff was incredibly friendly, with the one exception being our shuttle driver who, annoyed at our slowness, grabbed our very shy son and put him in the taxi, unapologetically inducing 30 minutes of sobbing. I'm not sure these guys are employed by the Newstead, so I'm not necessarily holding this against the resort.

The housekeeping and maintenance staff were amazingly friendly and funny. We got to know them well after having a few significant issues with our room (a tub that didn't fill and a safe that broke with our stuff inside). With their great attitude and more than gracious compensation from the manager, the issues were no big deal.

So yes, there were some minor negative points, but the Newstead - and Bermuda in general - is such a special place that we will definitely be back, and not soon enough.

We have wanted to visit Bermuda for many years from UK and finally got to go. We are so glad we chose this hotel. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment and were not disappointed. It was large and light, clean, nicely furnished and very comfortable. The terrace was amazing and had the most wonderful views over Hamilton harbour as well as islands and glorious sunsets. We spent many hours just watching all the boats come and go. The pool area was nice, not enormous but never crowded and the pool was lovely and warm. The restaurant was very nice, if a little expensive but our anniversary meal there was very special. There is also a bar serving more casual food which is quite reasonably priced. Most of the staff were lovely especially the housekeeping staff, Brooke on reception and the lovely and helpful Eric. The manager, Mr Bushara was very nice and very helpful always taking the time to chat when he was able.
There is a great little shuttle boat to take you over the Hamilton but it's a shame it doesn't run later in the evening to bring you back. They also take you over to the Coco Reef hotel beach which I thought was amazing and lovely and quiet.
I loved this hotel and ...I would definitely love to go back!

Really happy with my stay. The room was gorgeous and so was the view. Good location. I got a good deal, which makes me even more happier. I also attended a wedding during my stay. The food was great and so were the staff. Thanks :)

Stayed at this hotel in April with my husband & daughter. The hotel is beautiful, great location, private, and just very relaxing .
The pool is a bit small but it was not crowded.
Restaurants were expensive on site so we used the kitchen and cooked meals , ordered pizza one night , or dined in Hamilton.
We used the shuttle to Hamilton which was a huge bonus. Wished it ran more often and also more frequent during the evenings
My only complaint was the girls at the front desk were not friendly , did not smile or gave off that happy positive vibe. Even when they answered the phone they were just so scripted......They would just answer your questions briefly or just say they didn't know. The only person I got great service from was Brooke. Brooke was friendly, suggested great places to eat , showed me menus, and most importantly SMILED :)
I think the other girls need to be more customer service oriented , friendly and smile more. It doesn't cost anything to smile.
They also need to learn more about the island so when they are asked a question they can help the client instead of saying the dont know.
The Bellmans were great, happy , friendly, asked us how our day was, if we needed anything , very hospitable.
The housekeeping staff was amazing and very friendly. Our room was spotless everyday, the housekeeping staff works really hard and would never pass us straight , they as always greeted us.
overall I would stay here again , its truly a beautiful hotel .

This is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location with a convenient, free water taxi to Hamilton and a free shuttle to the beach. Every suite has a spectacular view so you can' t go wrong.
The front desk and bell captains are the best with Eric being our personal favorite. They are knowledgeable about the best things to do and best places to eat.
I wil say that the French restaurant Beau Rivage on site was my least favorite restaurant on the whole island. For the high price I felt it was not a good value and the attitude a bit stuffy. We wish we had tried Blue which is on the golf course.

Room Tip: All have fabulous views

We stayed at the Newstead Belmont Hills from 22-30 April and had the most wonderful time. From the moment we were picked up at the airport to going back nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We had a lovely 1 bedroom apartment which was bigger than most 3-bed flats in London! Everything was kept extremely clean by the friendly maid service and we made good use of the extensive patios overlooking the water and Hamilton. We had a couple of evening meals at the hotel and a couple more at the Blu restaurant at the golf club. All of them were excellent as were the couple of lunches we had by the pool. When our flight home was cancelled the front-desk staff couldn't have been more helpful (unlike BA but that's another story) and we also received a late check-out the following day. The location is great with easy access to the beaches on the south shore either from the courtesy bus to Coco Reef or a 30 minute walk. Alternatively you can jump on the courtesy ferry which takes five minutes to shuttle you over to Hamilton. It doesn't run in the middle of the day but there is another local ferry which takes in various stops including one adjacent to the hotel. As I said all the staff were great but a special mention to Brooke on the front desk and Eric in the shuttle bus for always making us smile.

We stayed at the Newstead Belmont Hills from April 5-13. Our 1 bedroom cottage was AMAZING! It was very spacious and clean, with a full kitchen, sitting area, and huge patio right on the water's edge.

The free water shuttle to Hamilton is very convenient and runs every 30 mins during peak hours. When that is not running, the local ferry stop is a short walking path, maybe 20 yards past the hotel. If you had business in Hamilton, it would be a very convenient place to stay.

The infinity pool was a huge hit with the kids! The pool was heated to bathtub tempurature, and more than once, a manager would come down to check on us and ask if we wanted the jets turned on in the hot tub. Again, super friendly.

Even more amazing was the friendliness and accomodations of the staff. We flew in late on Saturday night from Los Angeles, so my kids (ages 4 & 6) were exhausted and hungry. We were escorted straight into the little bar/restaurant adjacent to Beau Rivage and assured that they would remain open so that my little ones could get some food. Everyone was so nice, we would definitely go back to the Newstead on future trips to the island.
