There is nothing special about this hotel......its neat, its clean and it's quiet. It's a cheap place to sleep and not be bothered. This year we stayed for 10 nights. It's Bermuda rent a moped and go for rides and see the island. If you have a moped this hotel is a perfect central location to see the island.

This year was our second stay, Very disappointed the restaurant was closed and the staff did not inform us. The pool was also drained. The hotel has great potential if they would just fix it up.

This hotel is old, tired and not at all as pictured. The halls and room were dirty. The previous reviewer says it all. The pool and restaurant were closed. Locks on door were minimal. Safe in room was not operational. We lost electricity when the coffe maker and AC were on at the same time. The walk is long (3/4 mile) to the bus stop. All up hill on the return to the hotel. Staff would not give me a receipt for our 1 night stay...we checked out the next morning after arrival. Spend a few extra dollars and please stay somewhere else.

On arrival Friday afternoon I learned that the pool was empty, the restaurant abandoned, and the doors to the lounge's oceanview terrace locked. My room, however, was spacious with a view of the ocean (beyond the decrepit-looking pool area) and a lush hillside dotted with pretty Bermudian cottages. The bed was comfortable, linens okay, cable okay, fridge operational, all clean. No soap in the basket of toiletries and there wouldn't be until my third morning. "None had been delivered," said the woman at the front desk, a pleasant woman, whose ratty shift suggested her regular job was cleaning, rather than hotel reception. Not until Sunday afternoon did I see anyone at the hotel who appeared managerial. I came to realize this is a ghost hotel with rooms rented out while they can still get people to go for the cheapest on Priceline or Expedia. For $100 this was okay, but you're going to be furious if you pay more. When the screens break (as mine was) they're not getting fixed. The grounds out back are littered with abandoned equipment and whole reception rooms have been locked up, their windows broken and open to whichever creatures wish to enter. I found this incredibly sad, especially because the architecture, size, and location are appealing and the beach three minutes walk down a path is magnificent. If the tourist business in Bermuda weren't in such terrible economic shape, this could be a great fixer-upper for some hip hotelier. Do not be fooled, as I was, into believing the "massive renovation" the hotel advertised on one sight has already occurred. What made me mad was the false advertising (nowhere but here will you read that the pool and restaurant are long gone). Also, be warned, the walls were paper thin and my neighbors were up partying until three.

From: New York, New York, USA

GREAT Location!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Grape Bay Beach Hotel. After reading the many "reviews" we were concerned about our stay. Once we arrived (late after 10 pm), the security person showed us to our room (he did not show us how to work anything but did show us to our room). The room was clean, very roomy and had 2 beds and a balcony. The bathroom was a nice size for 2 people. We were not able to open the balcony door. The security guard was nice enough to show us how to open the door. The view from the balcony was magnificent; we could see the pool and ocean right from our balcony. That was romantic. Our room was on the top floor and the views were memorable.

The breakfast was basic, but it hit the spot (bagels, croissants, danish, yogurt, tea, coffee & various juices).

The Staff was quite helpful. We were able to get taxis within 15-20 minutes after requesting it.

The hotel location is right near everything. The beach is less than a 5 minute walk. We felt like we were the only ones on the beach. It was soooo romantic; it was a nice place to spend our birthdays. There is a nice walk down to the main road. You are able to catch the city bus which takes you anywhere on the island. There is a quick place to eat on the main road (walking distance) called Ice Queen (serves Fast Food).

We admit this is not a fancy hotel, but we found it is quaint and clean. The hotel is cost effective especially with the special rates for October 2008, $99-$110 per night. We also, met some GREAT folks while staying there and made some nice long lasting friendships.

If you are looking for luxury this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quite place close to the beach and near most attractions this is the place for YOU! Bermuda is a beautiful place, hope you get a chance to experience

grape bay hotel was not as nice as i expected. i expected more for 200 a night.

pros: there is a small beach that is walking distance from the hotel. there is a small pool at the hotel. the staff is friendly. there is a continental breakfast.

cons: there were stains all over the carpet and roofs. no central air conditioning. one internet station. building seems kind of run down, old and smelly. no concierge service (compared to back in the states). both ladies at the desk gave us false information. the staff did not provide completely reliable information. bagel, cereal, orange juice, apple juice breakfast. literally, same breakfast everyday. the restaurant they have at the grape bay hotel, sapori, is never open. they are open when they feel like being open.

grape bay hotel was an okay motel if you only intend to sleep at the hotel and be out most of the time. it's not a place you want to spend most of your time. similar to a motel 6 back in the states but much pricier. pretty empty and kind of ghostly.

This hotel could be A Gold Mind If sombody would just fix it up..Their were ants all over the down stairs were you had breakfast and the entery way. the air conditioner was broken and they could not fix it. We had no running water one day because they were having water problems. Most of the staff was friendly as long as you did not complain about the hotels condition their is A reason they don't show this hotel close up in their advertising.
