We have visited Bermuda many times. We have stayed all over the Island but keep coming back to the Pompano. The Staff is the secret to their success. We have taken friends and family and have never been disappointed. The views are spectacular, the food is outstanding, the staff makes you feel special. It is a long ride from the airport but worth the expense. You have the convenience of the Ferry and the Hotel staff that will take you where you need to go. A suggestion would be change entertainment and make bar a fun place to be. We will be back this summer.

Room Tip: Pick Room 80.

I think the staff could make an Igelo a 4 or 5 rating. Cindy, Archer, Rodell, McCall, service and cleaning staff are the best. 10 circles if possible. Other hotels should study and recruit these fine hospitality staff members. I agree with the previous comments that if you exclude the exceptional service the hotel quickly becomes a motel with a great view. I also agree with the previous review that states if there is a large party you'll be bumped. Bad decision from the owner who seems most interested in cash flow. We didn't use the game room but that is outdated. The gym is marginal at best with foggy windows. One of the weight systems had a disconnected cable weight which if I had to guess has been broken for at least a few months. The Pompano is tough to get to. $65 cab ride from the airport and taxis if you want to get outside the resort. In case you live somewhere else in the world and aren't familiar with Bermuda, its cold in the water, can rain all day and has 40 mph winds. A hidden secret is the nature reserve nearby with a quick nice walking trial. We'll be back but will wait until the reviews show a match in ownership dedication to that of the staff.

I have a slightly mixed view of this hotel - in some respects it's one of the best that we've stayed in, but there were a couple of niggles. The location is incredible with our room having an uninterrupted view out over the Atlantic to the setting sun - easily the best view that we've ever had. The views are also maximised in the restaurants, bar and gym all of which have huge windows facing West. Breakfast is excellent, as were the dinners. Staff were warm and friendly, particularly in the restaurants and on Reception. The room was a good size, clean and well cared for with a bathroom bigger than most we've ever had. The beach isn't huge, but the water is shallow and safe with fish swimming around you even in a few inches of water.
My only negative relates to the change in service when there were large groups in - we were there at the same time as a couple of weddings and as a large golf party came in. As soon as this happened, the pool bar was shut early so that there were enough staff to cover the wedding as one example. I had the impression that all attention was focused on the larger groups at our expense - understandable perhaps given that it's a small hotel but all of us were booked well ahead of time.
The only other observation is that some areas are in need of refurbishing - the gym had a leak in the roof and the games room was a little tired. Nothing major in either case and neither of these niggles detracted from a great holiday.

We stayed at the Pompano Beach Club for 2 weeks at the beginning of October 2013 - sorry for submitting this so later. We are from the UK and really enjoyed what was our main holiday there last year. There are a couple of minor points but nothing to ruin the holiday. It would be nice to have bottles of water in the room especially after a fairly long journey. There is nothing to hang wet swimwear on and an airer on the balcony would have been helpful. The Pompano isn't the most luxurious hotel – built in the 50s and could do with a spruce up. However, it does have a relaxed and unstuffy atmosphere. All the staff were friendly and helpful and would take the time to stop and have a chat. Unfortunately we found it necessary to complain twice when we were woken up by the guests below us but each time this was dealt with swiftly and without any fuss. The hotel is in a great location. The drive up to it is beatiful. The small private beach was not crowded and always kept in pristine condition despite some heavy rainfall. The pool and areas around it are kept clean and there are plenty of towels for everyone.
Meals in both the Cedar and Ocean View Grill rooms were excellent with plenty of fish and healthy options and huge portions. We were on a meal plan for 2 weeks so some variation in the menus would have been good. We ate out a couple of nights not because the food in the hotel was bad but we wanted to sample some local cuisine.
Our deluxe room had a beautiful ocean view, large and one of the most comfortable, with a sitting area and large bathroom with double sink, bath and shower. Our room was serviced well each day and we always had more than enough towels.
The Pompano is away from everything so be prepared to either hire a moped or use taxis and the excellent bus and ferry services. You can buy tokens from reception for bus and ferry travel which are more economical than paying cash. Although the Pompano have entertainment most evenings in the hotel, there is no entertainment within walking distance. The hotel provides a shuttle to the Rockaway Ferry point, bus stops and supermarket which is very helpful and they will take you as many times as you need to go. When you come back you can use a phone which is at the bottom of the road and someone at the Pompano will collect you. We found it very easy to get around by bus and ferry and made some fantastic trips to the Royal Naval Dockyard, Hamilton and St. Georges which we enjoyed so much we went twice. My other half went on two dives both of which he said were some of the best and the snorkelling is great even if you don't manage to make it out to the reef which is a fair walk/swim to get to.
In all, we had a wonderful, relaxing time at the Pompano. Although there is room for improvement, the Lamb family clearly work hard at creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Room Tip: Try for a room lower down by the ocean.

January in Bermuda is really blah! Pompano Beach Club really made up for the weather. Their chef is brilliant. Five Star. Their servers the same. They give you a Bermuda welcome and serve you like Park Ave. it must be a really awesome place when the weather cooperates.

The first time I stayed at Pompano Beach Club was in 1996 when my husband & I took our children with us. We all loved our stay! I returned again in 2002, 2004, 2005 & 2009, sometimes with my husband & other times with my children. Every time I went was better than the last! Over time we've stayed at other hotels in Bermuda but we keep coming back to Pompano!

This time I returned with my husband for a 4-night stay & had a wonderful time!
The property is well maintained and it improves every time. The owner, Larry & manager,Tim, are always there to see that everything runs smoothly. Service is excellent: from Valerie & Laurie at the front desk, to the workers in the restaurants, specially Rodel, Michael, McCall, Akkhila, and Archer at the bar. All wonderful people, always ready to serve with a smile. Our thanks to all of them! The food at the 2 restaurants was also very, very good. The Ocean Grill, specially, is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food & service to match.

We had a Deluxe room right over the water. The view from our large balcony was THE BEST! Truly amazing! It was like being on a cruise ship... but so much better!

We travel a lot but Pompano Beach Club in Bermuda is one of our favourite places. We shall return!

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are closer to the water, but all the rooms have amazing views!

Checked in on NYE and was given a very friendly welcome. Didn't have the same cottage as usual but the one next door which was just as comfortable even if a little smaller. Beautiful views. Dinner on NYE was excellent even after a bit of a slow start but staff were very good in getting everything sorted. Champagne at midnight and we left the lobby in the wee hours. A lovely buffet style breakfast for New Years day which meant you could either eat to your heart's content or very little. Another good dinner on New Years night with once again excellent service. It is always a joy to go there, Just a shame that they had to keep up with modern technology and allow cell phones etc there but do understand it had to happen!! It is also a pity that the dress cde isn't enforced a little more as it is such an lovely place that it deserves the respect of customer's being properly dressed.
