First time in bermuda, a very lovely place to visit, but I would not go back to the reefs.
The staff was mostly friendly, the spa was fantastic, good drinks at the Clubhouse, and you are right on a private beach area. They provide towels, beach chairs, and snorkeling equipment which is nice and convenient.
However, the location is not good if you want to see Bermuda. It’s not within walking distance to anything - no shops, sites, landmarks, restaurants/bars. Horseshoe bay beach(which is beautiful), is a 15 minute walk but there are no sidewalks or walking paths. And beware the drivers in Bermuda are dangerous and unkind. You can take the bus if you have all day to waste. It was difficult to get a taxi at times, so we rented a car(twizzy) and e-bikes across the street at Oleander cycles. Both rental processes were extremely difficult for access and use, with major glitches that ruined several of our plans. The twizzy battery life won’t get you from the Reefs to St. George. We didn’t get it for the full time we paid for, and no one was able to help. The reefs isn’t responsible for the car or bike rentals, but considering their poor location to almost any other destination, they should do a better job of making sure their guests have reliable transportation.
The food at the Reefs was just ok, definitely not 4 star hotel quality. There are only 2 or 3 other restaurants nearby so if you don’t pay for a taxi, which is very expensive and unreliable, you’re stuck at the resort with the same menu everyday. The grounds are small and limited, seeing as half of the property is for club members only. Considered top of the line in luxury 15 or 20 years ago, the reefs needs a major upgrade to its properties. Especially Wi-Fi. Don’t plan on doing much work from your hotel room. Boasting the first infinity pool in Bermuda, built about 20+ years ago. It was tiny and crowded all day. We were only able to get in during lunch/dinner time or at night before it closed.
We woke up early Sunday morning for yoga on the beach, which sounded calming and pleasant, but the instructor was not nice and didn’t care if you couldn’t keep up. We asked politely for her to slow down but she didn’t. There were only 3 of us in the “class”.
The reefs can also do a better job at providing basic toiletries and drinking water, which was an unexpected luxury.
