Baxter's road begins adjacent to the superb Barbados Mutual Assurance Society building. It is one of the oldest roads in Bridgetown and walking up the road you can see why. Overhanging balconies abound from the many shops that front Baxter's road in traditional British colonial style architecture designed for the tropical climate. Streets are named after either wealthy business people of the colonial period or trades that were located nearby. Well worth leaving the more popular Broad Street for a an interesting hour's stroll.
