was at the island in for two weeks in may.what a lovely little hotel.
we would like to thank everyone at the island inn for making our holiday all the more fantastic.
from the moment we arrived til the moment we left the staff were wonderful.nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile on they're face.
the rooms are small but ample for our needs.they were kept spotless.
its a all inclusive hotel but apart from the buffet breakfast the rest of the meals are picked from a menu and brought to you.you only get a couple of choices on each course but there is always something you fancy on offer.the waitress always kept your glass full.
just around the corner from the restaurant is the bar.again small but with only 24 rooms in the hotel which means only 48 people again plenty of room.
spirits at the bar are all international brands.and I must mention Earl the barman.he is fantastic.as are his cocktails.Earl has a smile and a kind word for everybody.a really fantastic person.
the courtyard is spotless and the pool might be small but in the heat of the day its a cool heaven.
the beach is less than a minute away and its a lovely beach but as with all the beaches in Barbados they are all public beaches which means you pay for sunloungers and umbrellas.two sunloungers with matresses and a umbrella works out to £15 a day so its a costly two weeks on the beach.
we hired a car for 3 days and its a great way to see the island.you can get a picnic hamper from the hotel instead of having lunch.its the best picnic from any hotel ive ever been in.
overall this is one of the best if not the best hotels we have ever been in.
once again a big thank you to all the staff for making our two weeks in paradise even better.
and a big thank you to Sharon on reception.you couldn't do enough for us and your smile is amazing.you were our sunshine, thank you.
we will be back

Room Tip: ask for garden view.a little noisy in courtyard

We went to this hotel for our Honeymoon based on the reviews. We had emailed ahead twice in advance to ask for a room upgrade but got no response. We should have known then how we would have been treated. On arrival the receptionist mentioned our email and said we would have to speak to the manager about an upgrade but just see how the room was first. The room was terrible. It was at the back of the building had breeze block walls painted white near a noisy generator on the walk through. There was no privacy so we couldn't even open the curtains. The room was dark and small so not the best start. We asked 3 more times to speak to the manager 24 hours later we agreed an upgrade and moved to a much better room with outside space once we had paid but still no privacy. The next day we were rudely awoken at 9 am by the cleaner who said she needed to do the room. We felt we had to leave as she sat outside the room until we left. This happened twice so we put the do not disturb up sign every night. The reception area was the meeting point for the staff so we felt like we were imposing if we went out to ask a question. The food was meant to be al a carte which may have been ok if it had been cooked fresh. When my husband asked for hot food he was told all the food is pre cooked before service and kept at room temperature. We had a packed lunch. No bottle opener for the beer, no napkins, no cutlery. We also had the night before's lemon cream pie served up in a sandwich package so a yellow slop when we opened the bag. The bar was absolutely terrible. Very slow service if you weren't ignored. Drinks were measured and we were told this was because we were all inclusive! To keep costs down. Cheaper spirits were under the counter and poured so you couldn't see. The bar man listened to football and cricket on his radio while ignoring us. The worst part though was the miserable staff. They were polite in that they would say 'your welcome, when thanked then but that was as far as the level of engagement went. Sour grumpy faces with clearly fed up staff is not welcoming. We spent most of our time away from the hotel to escape the staff. The reason we went to Barbados for our honeymoon was because how friendly the people had been when we stopped on a cruise previously. We thought the locals had been abducted! There was clearly some politics going on between the staff and the manager who had an overpowering school mistress presence. No surprise then when we asked to leave she charged us 100% cancellation fee to move making us feel like prisoners. What a shame this place could have been so much more. A lovely setting, close to the beach but no sun loungers unless you pay £15 a day. With just 16 guests the kitchen could and should have cooked fresh but the lazy can't be bothered attitude was right through the staff team with the exception of Sharon who was lovely. We had to pay to get away from this hotel to the sister resort Mango Bay. This was another world from the second we walked through the door so the company was capable of providing a good service but not at the island inn.

Room Tip: Do not choose the standard garden room they are like prison cells no light, breeze block walls paint...

We have just returned from this hotel and were more than happy with it for the money. The food was great and the rooms clean and spacious. Beds large and comfy, The staff are always happy to help and the cocktails are great! The pool is small but perfect to cool down in. Only gripes which are very small was no umbrella's at the pool and the towels are not big enough for the sunbeds so you burn your feet as they are black and attract the heat - but very small niggles. I would recommend this hotel for sure. The beach is seconds away and beautiful. we loved it and Barbados is Amazing.

Room Tip: pool rooms are bigger but not really better, nice and quiet the other side.

Simply the best holiday we've had in years. From the minute we arrived until the end of the holiday we were looked after by the fabulous staff.
It's a small and intimate hotel with only having 24 rooms. The room we had was a garden view. It was ample in size for two. The restaurant was just past the bar and the meals were fantastic. Always something to suit everyones tastes. First all inclusive hotel I've been that you pick your meal from a menu. The bar was small but your always served quick and with a smile especially from earl the barman. He is a star. International brands as well.
The hotel isn't on the beach but its only a minute stroll to the beach.but be warned you have to pay for the sunbeds as its a public beach.for two beds, an umbrella and two mattresses it costs £15 British pounds.
We hired a car for three days. It's the best way to see the island. Very affordable and great fun.
The lobby area is small but comfortable as is all the hotel.
All the staff were fab. They did everything possible to make sure that your holiday was perfect. Sharon on reception was the best.her smile lightened up the room.
To sum up it up it was the best hotel ever.
Will definitely be back.
Thanks all at the island inn.

From the moment we arrived we felt so at ease the staff are very friendly and efficient nothing is too much trouble, the room was lovely to say the least, the bed was enormous a selection of toiletries was provided along with tea and coffee, Every meal was delicious and the service outstanding ( the staff work extremely hard to make your stay a good one ) if you choose to go to this hotel you will be wanting a chill holiday and that's exactly what this hotel and area delivers. It is situated in an historic area so do not miss out on the history around you (after all the hotel itself was the rum store for the British army back in the 1800s .) Presumably in choosing this hotel you will have read the reviews if you go you will meet some like minded people to yourselves and have a very agreeable stay . I am sure that if you really look hard enough you may find fault don't look just enjoy. They say that barbados is paradise if that is true then the Bajan people must be the angels looking after it , it is them that make your stay special. We will definitely rerun to this hotel

Our visit to the Island Inn last December was our 4th and I can’t wait for our 5th (September 2014). It’s such a lovely, friendly little hotel probably my favourite anywhere. We always meets such lovely people and have a great time socialising in the courtyard, it’s such a lovely setting. All the staff are so friendly and I can’t wait for my welcome hugs from Sharon and Cyrilene.
We had a few problems last year with the air-conditioning and lack of water in the room (a pipe exploded outside) but not enough to put us off. Most of the guests are Brits with a fair mixture of ages. The bar did run out of a few drinks but luckily not my Gin and Tonics, the wine was quite drinkable as well. Eating in the Boardwalk restaurant is a pleasure, a la carte in the evenings, lunchtime varies .
Yes the pool is on the small size but we only ever use it for cooling down and the beach is only a minutes’ walk away. Our standard garden room was perfectly adequate just a few seconds walk from the bar. I’m not really into the evening entertainment so I won’t comment apart from it wasn’t too loud but we loved the BBQ especially Vanessa’s hot spicey sauce.
If you’re a diver like me, Rogers Scuba Shack is close by and he does pickup from the hotel and return though I usually walk to get back in time for lunch. If you’re lucky you might see the monkeys; previously they came through the hotel grounds every day.

My husband and I have just returned from 12 nights at the island inn and have got to say this is the best hotel we have stayed in! On arrival we mentioned that it was our first wedding anniversary that week and the staff kindly arranged a surprise bottle of bubbly in our room on the day! The hotel is very small which is why we loved it and we were lucky enough to meet some great people, in particular the bbq night was awesome!! It felt like our own private party! The food was great with a english breakfasts, three course lunches and three course dinners! We never had the same thing twice! The bar staff were good and would make any cocktail you wanted even if it wasn't on the list. Ahmal was our favourite barman and really made our stay special! The beach is a minutes walk away and in our opinion the best beach in barbados! Overall we could not fault the hotel or location - perfect!
