Decided on English Tea and the Bagatelle Great House is a lovely place to attempt that went for the full English Tea. Cakes, Tea and Service were great but the whole experience was let down as others have mentioned by tinned strawberries and cream from an aerosol can. Simply not on, double cream at worst and tinned strawberries never! I am a little sad that any Non English Visitor would think this is the real thing as eaten in England. If it was offerred in a true English Tea Room a riot would ensue.....

Location is great sitting on the veranda. Sandwiches were excellent however, was a bit disappointed to have tea bags instead of a choice of good loose tea's whether a Darjeeling, Assam, Ceylon etc

We regularly take visitors to Chatters Tea Room. We love having the high tea. It's really a meal with delicious little sandwiches and quiche as well as lovely cakes. The highlight is always the scones with strawberries and clotted cream. The girls enjoy picking their tea and having their own beautiful little tea pot and china tea cup.

We discovered this place by accident on a Saturday afternoon, heading back to the Highway from Bridgetown looking for somewhere to eat. Saw Chatters Tearoom on the local tourist map and decided to check it out.
It is a little off the beaten track but the Island isn't so big that you cant get there within half an hour or so from anywhere.
We arrived around 2.30pm and we were the only visitors. We were very well looked after by our waitress, who offered a selection of teas and served all of our 'courses' in an elegant fashion.
All of the tables were set in style with colourful cotton napkins and china plates and teacups. In my opinion, the only way to drink tea is from a china cup!
The veranda setting was cool and pleasant, looking over a lovely garden area.
The sandwiches were very tasty and the selection of cakes delicious. We ordered, one two course tea and one three course (the three course includes a selection of cakes). This was more than enough for us both including the hot pastry and the 'clotted' cream scone and strawberry.
We took half of the cakes home!
I noticed the comments on the cream from the 'cream tea experts' and agree that the cream was a little bit of a disappointment. I guess there is little demand for clotted cream in the Caribbean and I imagine it would be very expensive to ship it in. The Strawberry was, or appeared to be, tinned but overall what was presented was nice and the scone was extremely good (fresh out of the oven).
When you consider what you get for your money; $30BDS for a two course $40 for a three course, it all adds up to very good value.
The only negative I have is the tearoom sits above a bar/restaurant which was playing loud music (karaoke) which spoiled the atmosphere a little.
A very nice change from fish and chicken!
