“Shangri-La!”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

Our sixth or possibly seventh stay, in January 2014. It is expensive, but the staff:guest ratio is high, and everything here is done to a standard, not to a price. The food in Bajan Blue has improved since our last visit, although it's a shame that it's generally half empty on the nights when there isn't a full buffet. The restaurant is large and needs to be busy to create a good vibe. The same goes for the cabaret - to be frank I don't know why they bother with it - it's a bit 'cruise ship' feel. The spa remains amongst the best in the world, and of course this means it's expensive. However, a one hour massage here means a one hour massage - not 50 minutes, as in most spas. I've said in previous reviews that this hotel doesn't necessarily have the best beach, or best showers, or best anything. But a hotel is a sum of its parts, and this is where Sandy Lane continues to score very highly indeed. And it's why their repeat guests are a staggeringly high percentage. That in itself tells the true story.

I went to this hotel not by choice as we joined another couple from our cruise ship. If I had read Tripadvisor I might have tried it out but unlikely.
My experience was that it was pleasant but initially affronted by staff who said that we couldn't be lounge seated in an area next to the restaurant. So we waited near-by but was later led into the same 'restricted' area for our meal!
The meal itself started off with a large portion of soup - so I thought wow! The main meal was a complete let-down as the curry was milder than a Korma Curry .....it was so-so that I thought they forgot that spice ingredient. The food was luke-warm, so all in all it was disappointing.
When we had finished the main coarse, we waited over half an hour trying to attract waitress attention and had to go get someone to clear the table. Certainly a lack of attention by the staff. Its my guess that they had some sort of shift change at 9.30pm and appears most the restaurant staff went home, leaving a skeleton staff. So, when the bill came it was split in half. I was surprised to find that it cost my wife and I £240 !
If the service and food had been excellent I would not have felt ripped off. The only consolation is that it wasn't my choice and later found out that the other couple chose it because celebrities go there. Guess celebrities can afford not to care.

Great five star hotel, rooms and service is six star at all times, very friendly staff where nothing was to much trouble. The golf is brilliant with a the choice of 3 courses, the gym was excellent the but the spa is very steep.

Went for afternoon tea whilst staying on the island. The cake selection was amazing - over 9 cakes each and selection of sandwiches great. Excellent selection of tea too. The ambiance and setting was great, we stayed for cocktails afterwards. Would highly recommend.

We booked this Holiday 18Mths ago for our wedding anniversary, having been to Barbados previously we had talked about something very special for this occasion.
We contacted our Travel Agent Clarissa Edgar who has booked all of our holidays for the past 18 Years for some advice ...
We were not sure which rooms we wanted to book we decided on the Luxury Ocean room and we were not disappointed at all in fact it was paradise the spacious room and Massive Balcony
gave us a real sense of space and pure luxury ...having spoken to Clarissa at length every detail she relayed to us was spot on ...the choice of food which places to eat in best room numbers and situation for best views every little detail unbelievable really that someone would know the hotel inside out ....we went out of the hotel to places she had recommended to us and we were more than satisfied ... The Spa was excellent and spent two wonderful days being pampered we have been all over the world, however this is now our favourite. The staff
provided us with an impeccable service and we will be returning 2015, and we will be calling Clarissa again to book as she really does know her stuff you can contact her directly for your holiday needs and rest assured she does go that extra mile even calling the hotels ahead to get upgrades etc...0800 883 0836 or 0121 243 0455

Room Tip: Seahorse and the Dolphin Wing where we were Perfect however I was told these are always in high dema...

Went to Sandy Lane for lunch last Monday and I have never witnessed anything like what they offered. We had a good attempt at trying as much as we could by taking sample size portions as it was so tempting. Absolutely first class.

Just returned from a week long vacation at Sandy Lane...it was by far the best resort experience we ever had! The resort & location are simply stunning & the water is the prettiest color turquoise. The level of service from every staff member was above 5-star...from the moment they welcome you upon arrival until the moment they say goodbye upon departure. The guest rooms are incredibly beautiful, spacious, & comfortable. All of the food at Sandy Lane is of the highest quality & oh so delicious. Breakfast was included with our stay...it was an amazing buffet every morning featuring anything your heart desired. Additionally, there are fresh smoothies made to order from just about any tropical fruit under the sun. If you care to indulge in a morning pastry with your coffee...the coconut danish, which I thankfully discovered on the last day, is sinful! Oh and don't miss Sunday Brunch...they are known for this incredible brunch. Lunch & Dinner dining is just as amazing as breakfast...our meals were superb every day! For families traveling with children, I can't say enough about the Treehouse Club for kids (I believe ages 3-12). Our 4 yr old loved it! The treehouse staff was great with kids, really nurturing & warm. The list of activities is too long to list...but the kids will have so much fun from sun up to sun down! Sandy Lane is such an amazing resort...be prepared to to treated like royalty!
