“Enjoyed our Stay”
Reviewed 24 May 2013

We travelled to Barbados and stayed at the Bougainvillea May 8 to 15, 2013. A great week in the sun relaxing at a fine well run smaller hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and stay,
We had a junior suite, which was quite adequate for our needs, 1 queen size bed and a couch for relaxing along with a small kitchenette. The room could handle a king size bed and is an option we would have enjoyed had it been available in this room option.
We made simple breakfasts in our room each morning, saving the hassle of rushing to a restaurant for more breakfast than one really needs and did the same for lunchs , the kitchenette was quite well equipped to make this quite easy. we then enjoyed meals out at the Landings and Waters Edge restaurants associated with the hotel, both quite good.
Our room was well cleaned and in good repair with a bathroom that was good sized and all in working order.
I don't think there is a room that does not have a decent ocean view with the exception of the ground floor rooms which have the advantage of easy access tot he ocean front or pool area.
Front desk staff all seemed quite pleasant and friendly when providing service, as was most of the staff we interacted with,.
The beach area was well maintained by the staff as well, with the lounges being very comfortable for a day on the beach. The beach staff would bring one an umbrella if reqested for shade and there seemed to be an adequate supply for the time we were there. Swimming was a little rough during our stay as the waves were really crashing in, apparently calmed down quite a bit after we left, so one can get periods where the ocean is quite rough and not easy to get in but that is not uncommon. Beach was quite walkable and we enjoyed having long walks on the beach. One could walk to the St Lawrence Gap area via the beach by heading to one right when facing the beach from the hotel, up the beach to the Dover Beach Hotel and going through the alleyway to the street, do right up to the main road then left and walk on down the main street there and one will come to the Gap, about a 20 minute walk at a leisurely pace.
You pass the Dover deli and market on this walk as well. Good for groceries etc.
There is also a small variety store at the end of the hotel property when you turn to the right when leaving the hotel lobby, about a 5 minute walk, one can get basics, or you can walk further about 20 minutes to the Oistins supercentre market for grocery needs, taxi back to the hotel $10 barbadian dollars.
The hotel offers a shuttle service to the Friday night Oistins Fish fry, a great night out and a good way to take in the Friday night happenings at Oistins. $10 barbadian each for return trip, piock up was at 6:30 and return was around 9:30 whcih gave lots of time to have a great fish dinner and experience the area.
Overall just great stay and an enjoyable experience at the Bougainvillea

Room Tip: All rooms on second floor and up have great Ocean views

My wife and I just returned from 9 fabulous days in Barbados at the Bougainvillea Beach Resort, where we thoroughly enjoyed all that this first class resort has to offer, including their Wedding-In-Paradise package. After a thorough investigation of the destination wedding packages available at other resorts on adjacent Caribbean islands, we decided that the arrangement options available to us at Bougainvillea was exactly what we were searching for. From the initial planning documents, through to our final vows taken under palm trees overlooking the white sand beach and azure blue ocean, their coordination and attention to every detail made our wedding a dream come true. We would specifically like to thank Shemora for all of her support and tireless efforts to provide us with a wedding that was beyond compare.
Our honeymoon suite was very well appointed, offering a functional kitchenette, spacious 4 piece bath, comfortable four-poster king bed, plus a large enclosed balcony overlooking the numerous pools, tropical oasis courtyard and breathtaking ocean vistas. In addition, we had a large private sundeck with table & chairs, chaise lounge and a hammock for two, providing a quiet location to gaze up at the stars while enjoying late evening breezes that swept in from the ocean.
The staff at the Resort were genuinely friendly and eager to ensure guests were enjoying their stay. After just a few days, we knew many by their first names, which made our vacation that much more enjoyable - like staying with friends. The facility itself is spectacular, with an open architectural design that emphasises this tropical location. Dining at either of the two ocean side restaurants was a treat, as traditional local offerings were augmented with exotic culinary delights, all prepared and served by professional and courteous staff. There is so much to do and see in Barbados, and the knowledgeable staff at the Activities desk provided great suggestions plus made all the arrangements so we got the most from our vacation.
Bougainvillea Beach Resort is truly a world-class facility for destination weddings or get-away vacations, and offers true value for the money.

Room Tip: Ground level rooms offer direct access to the pools and courtyard from their patios, which seemed to...

Excellent stay in 2010, for the money, the value was good. Amenities, service and location.
As was off season, we had better than usual selection of rooms I guess. We stayed ground floor and pool, restaurants and beach were right there. Beach surf is rough, and not for timid or very small kids without supervision but that is a fact for all Barbados south coast beaches. Oistins is also close by for friday fish fry. Will return.

Room Tip: Ground floor near pool was good, beach also very close to main building, but we went in june which i...

Spent 5 nites in the hotel for a scuba diving vacation with my son and his wife. Room was fantastic and I loved listening to the sound of the surf all night long. Food in the restaurant was great and much better than I anticipated. Staff very friendly.
Right on the beach.

Room Tip: I believe all rooms face the ocean. Would recommend 2nd of 3rd floors for better view.

I needed a get away in Barbados and Bougainvillea was just what the doctor ordered. Every detail was attended to from dining recommendations to getting a good nights sleep. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is spectacular though rough at times. Though I was slightly disappointed that I wasn't closer to st. Lawrence gap the taxi service provided made it easy for me to get around as a solo traveler. Most nights I had the same taxi driver, David who was very professional and courteous and picked me up from whichever restaurant I went to. So hats off to all involved in bougainvillea resort, a great bunch of staff.

I must admit, we got an incredible deal on this place and while it isn't the type of hotel we usually go for (we just prefer smaller places) but this surpassed all of our expectations 10 fold.

I was having a mini panic that they'd give us a terrible room (because we were on a deal), but I couldn't have been more impressed when we opened that door. We had the poster room (on the website) which was bright, breezy, incredibly spacious and really modern and clean.

The bathroom was huge, the bedroom had the comfiest bed and a really nice big corner sofa. The kitchenette was perfectly well equipped for our 4 nights....we had to unplug the fridge at night as it was humming but no big deal.

Lovely balcony overlooking the quieter pool with the beach and sea just behind it. I would 100% recommend asking for a room away on that side and away from the main block which overlooks the main pool and bar - we were so grateful that they didn't put us in one of those rooms as they must be noisy and look far more on top of each other.

We had lunch in Lanterns a couple of time (awesome pizza!) and a dinner at Water's Edge - both were good and no complaints at all. Everyone had a smile for us and couldn't have been more helpful. Some people have said it's pricey, but for Barbados we thought it was ok.

The beach is lovely - white sand and turquoise sea. Yes it's a little bit rougher than on the West Coast but you can still swim there.

All in all we were really bowled over by this place.... it certainly changed our mindset on the larger hotels and would happily recommend.

Room Tip: We had room 3319 which was a Superior studio (and the photo they have on their website to show that...

I stayed at this hotel on more than one occasion and enjoyed it thoroughly each time. The rooms are always so immaculately cleaned and laid out. I'm not sure that I can put into words how much I love this Hotel. I stayed with friends at one point and family on other occasions and each time it proved to be excellent for the different occasions. If you choose not to stay here it's your loss.

A fantastic hotel in a great location.

I WILL be returning again!

Room Tip: The Ocean view room are great!
