the pirates inn, brownes gap road, hastings, barbados is an intimate, although a bit old, 20-odd room self contained motel which strikes you as "home" as soon as you step inside. the staff are welcoming, friendly and appear genuinely happy to be of assistance in every way. the rooms are well appointed and make it easy to live as you want. the restaurant, although marginally limited in choice, has enough really good food to keep you happy. the bar is exceptionally well staffed and stocked and it is right next to the pool. it is also about twenty steps from most rooms. the rates are good,eg, $US92 per night got us a great air conditioned room, all the facilities you need for self catering, and generous full hot breakfast each day. the manager renee, staff tony, sarah, ian and patricia are beyond description with their care for you and the rest of the staff whose names i did not get are equally good. after a day there i declared that in all my extensive and frequent world travels, i had never felt more welcome, comfortable, safe and content than at the pirate's inn, barbados

Myself and my my now husband got married in Barbados this year. At the last minute we had to find a hotel for the first week of our stay. Due to the great price and positive reviews we chose the Pirates Inn. The staff are fantastic, friendly, professional and very helpful. At the last minute our wedding car fell through both the receptionist and one of the waiters went out of their way to help us find another one which we did. The food is delicious, the room was lovely and clean as was the pool. Security was excellent as well. The location is great, you can walk to Accra beach, there is a small shopping complex next to it with a grocery shop, restaurants and clothes shops. Bus's stop at the end of the road taking you to Oistins or Bridgetown in the opposite direction. It is a very quiet location. We were sad to leave and the second hotel that we stayed in did not live up to the friendly atmosphere that we found at the Pirates Inn.

Hotel location is very convenient as you are in walking distance of MANY restaurants, stores etc. Beach is across the street as well. Pool is nice. The hotel staff are very friendly.
Yes this hotel has a restaurant/bar but breakfast doesn't start until 8am--which i think is a little late for breakfast. Also, a rugby team was there and they seem short staffed as we had to wait a good while for our breakfast as they have to prepare breakfast for the rugby team first.
The restaurant closes at 9pm--so any late night munchies--you better get on the road--and most rest close at 10/11pm. The menu didn't consist of any fruits whatsoever. I mean, its the caribbean--fruits should be in abundance!
It seem there is only one lady that does the housekeeping as well--God bless her, but one day it was after 2pm and our room wasn't cleaned yet. Also, it seems they take the towels and wash and bring back....so if you are in need of a fresh towel in the interim--you gotta wait for it to be laundered.
It was my first time in Barbados--so i didn't know what to expect. However, on my possible next trip, I'd stay somewhere else just to see what it's like.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed our central, convenient location, and friendly staff. We do wish to make a few clarifications for the benefit of other users of this site.

Our restaurant opens from 7:30 a.m. daily for breakfast. While we admit that fruit is not listed on our all day a la carte menu, we did have it available daily on the breakfast buffet and we are happy to provide it on request for any guest.

We had four housekeeping staff on duty during the period of your stay and three different individuals would have provided service to your room. We always strive to ensure that our housekeeping complement is suited to the demands of the hotel occupancy however, we do apologise for any delay in cleaning of your room.

We view all reviews as an opportunity to learn more about how we may better serve our guests and we appreciate your feedback on the areas where you felt our service might be improved. We assure you we will make every effort to effect that improvement.

This is a very nice, clean, friendly place to stay. The rooms are fully equipted and kept clean daily. All the people there are great and VERY helpful. My family always stay there when we travel to barbados ( which is at least 2 times a year). I can not say enough good things about this hotel ( I don't think it as a Hotel , more as a second home)

We had an amazing visit at the Pirate's Inn. We tried the full apartment for my mom's birthday -- which is a beautiful one-bedroom apartment with a living room and kitchen -- and we also stayed in their more classic hotel room there (it felt spacious, with a walk-in closet and a kitchen and a balcony...seemed like a lot for the price). The kitchen made a big difference to us because we could prepare our own food whenever we wanted or bring our breakfast out on the balcony in the morning (although most days we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, which serves a full menu. They also have a full bar). There are lots of additional restaurants and stores right down the road (walking distance, nice), it is a great location. The people we met were lovely -- we travel economically and it was a really a great deal for everything that is included, we were able to stick to a budget but not sacrifice anything. My mom loved that it was walking distance to one of the best beaches on the island, where there's soft sand as well as a reef further out (we saw sea turtles) and the bus stop that goes pretty much anywhere on the island so we didn't have to spend extra money on a car or figure out driving on the opposite side of the road. The bus comes every few minutes and it cost $1 US. We plan to go back again next year!
