We visited Sorobon (the windsurf place) on Bonaire several times while on the island. It had the perfect ambiance that we were looking for. Forget the "all inclusive's". Located at the end of a long dry dusty road, this resort appears like an oasis . You are first assaulted and then mesmerized and embraced by the surreal colors of the Caribbean. You find a shady, secluded location near a bar, and with drink in hand you watch the windsurfers sail by in the shallow, warm waters of Lac Bay. You wander out into the waters - careful to avoid the roped off sea beds of turtle grass. You congratulate the locals for their ecological concerns to help preserve the indigenous wildlife. The cooling breeze is constant, the turquoise waters inviting and the windsurfers exhilarating to watch. One more drink and you might join them.
