Hotel is small, with approximately 8 rooms and pool, but is very cozy, friendly, and clean,. It is located 5 minutes from airport ($10 taxi ride) and a 10 minute walk to downtown. Thanks Viktor for making our stay a very pleasurable experience and your help with obtaining us a rental car, taxis, advice about places and things to see on the island and making a special reservation for our romantic valentine dinner at Sebastian, and oh ya let's not forget that great breakfast you served us every morning. This hotel is also conveniently located across from a convenience store which has likely all your needs including beers, wines and spirits. This was our first time in bonaire and we stayed here for 6 days to primarily snorkel around the island. If you plan on snorkeling rent a car and drive around the island. It is a fairly small island and easy to drive. all snorkel spots all well marked with yellow stones, and on any maps you pick up, which are available at airport when you land, and or at this hotel.

This was our first time in Bonaire and we were so lucky to find this little Oasis. Large, c!ean room overlooking a small well landscaped courtyard and pool. Viktor was our host/breakfast chef/activity assistant and a great help during our week long stay. Good value and walking distance to town and restaurants. We will definately return!

We booked the Sonrisa for one night so we could catch an early flight out of Bonaire last Sunday & the place was close to the airport. This is not a hotel, but more of a hostel/apartment with a small, but nice pool. Viktor was our host, gave us our keys to the room & the front gate & helped us carry our bags to the second floor. The room was clean, the air conditioning worked fine & the shower was fine. We did find some sand or something in our sheets, but that was a minor concern. Our room had a balcony, but it overlooked someone's backyard & clothesline.
Sonrisa is an easy walk to downtown & we enjoyed the shops & restaurants there. We also lounged by the pool reading books & it was relaxing & quiet. Viktor arranged for an early morning taxi so we made a smooth transition to our flight.

My wife and I are staying here now and it is a nice place for the value. You can walk here from the airport, about a 15 minute walk. They gave us directions for the walk and we made it no problem. The rooms are nice and clean with a nice big bed and a big shower, hot pot in the room with instant coffee provided nice touch. There was a small fridge and television in the room also. They have a nice small pool for you to to cool off in. It is about a 10 minute stroll into town where most of the resturants are. We have not had the breakfast yet that they provide but I am sure it will be fine. The beach is a little bit of a walk but that is not a problem, I think it is better to save a few bucks and stay here rather than on the ocean since there is not much beach on the island.

Room Tip: No resturant on the property but they are all within walking distance. Shampoo in a dispenser in the shower but no soap.

We stayed at the Sonrisa for 2 weeks in January 2013. After spending time in this wonderful hotel, it was hard to go back to Canada with the -30C temperature:)Jacqueline was an excellent host and provided lots of great conversation and laughs at breakfast. The breakfast included fruit, pastries, yogurt and granola and a sub sandwich as well as coffee, tea,and juice. After visiting with the other guests, we were only a 5 minute walk from the ocean. The location is great without the "on the ocean price". We could walk to the Divi and the Plaza and use their beach with just a short walk back to our hotel. We also walked downtown for supper and ice cream most nights, and loved that we could walk all along the ocean under the lights on the way there and back. Very romantic!. This hotel is very quiet and was the perfect relaxing getaway. The salt water pool was a great backdrop for lazy sunny afternoons reading in our lounge chairs. The Wi-Fi in the room was good. Our bed was very comfortable and the screened windows let us enjoy the gentle island breezes instead of the AC most nights. We stayed in the regular room. We had a mini fridge so that we could keep some food for snacks and there is a BBQ grill out by the pool. Towels were always available for the beach. My husband and I snorkeled every day and had parking available for our truck. We have travelled for the last few years, and the Sonrisa has been my favorite place to stay so far. We don't want to fight the crowds for a place in the sun and this hotel fits the bill perfectly. We enjoyed our time so much that we are coming back again in 2014:). Jacqueline and her team take great care to make your vacation memorable. Don't miss this little gem!

Room Tip: We loved our room facing the pool. Even though we weren't on the ocean, it felt very tropical with the palm trees above our balcony.
