“Great Location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 March 2013

Despite its outer appearance this casa is beautiful inside. High ceilings, beautiful colours, large communal space and we had a lovely, clean en suite room with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good but we only had it one day as we found a great little bakery on Obispo.
We spent 3 nights here and its location just one block from Obispo was great for exploring Havana Vieja. It was very safe and quiet, we had no problems walking back at night.
Unfortunately for what we were hoping from our first experience in a casa it was not what we expected, especially compared to our experiences since...the owners were not as helpful/forthcoming with advice as some places we stayed but i would definitely recommend this casa to anyone wanting to stay in a casa particular :-)

On our first trip to Cuba and decided to stay with the locals. A little put off when we pulled up outside but as with all the casa's we stayed in it was a hidden gem once in side. Very clean, individual style bed rooms colourful bathrooms and aircon. Breakfasts of fresh fruit and eggs with plenty of coffee. It could not be better placed being in the heart of the old town and the owner could not be more helpful. I would recommend any one to stay at these Casa Principals and especially this one.

We missed the entrance at night, dragging our bags from where the taxi deposited us, as no name outside, only street number. Once inside it was a different world: very bright, clean, comfortable rooms, teeny bathroom but with all one required. In our opinion, it's not necessary to change the bedding daily! Reydel was charming and recommended a good place to eat. Although only one block from the main hub of activity in the old town, it was a quiet location. Enjoyed our three days [24-26 Jan] and would definitely stay there again. Excellent breakfast and, as someone else commented, the best coffee we had during our two weeks.

Room Tip: Only saw two of the three rooms, but similar with slightly different decor. They have aircon which w...

We found this casa on cubaccomodation.com, and we do not regret our choice. We spent a total of 3 nights there.
The casa was fearly easy to found (we arrived from Varadero with the Viazul bus), very well located in Havana Vieja, in a safe street (we went out every nights and were never afraid to walk back home), and most importantly spotless. Everything seems brand new, the bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom great (with hot water). Check the pictures.
The owner speaks very well English and is very helpfull. We had our breakfasts in the casa but diner outside (as the cook was sick). Everything was delicious.
I highly recommend this casa.

We've been in Casa Obrapia on our last day before flying back to Italy. The place is great, the room the best I've been all over Cuba...new and European standards from beds to bathroom!
The house is extremely new and beautiful..and the owner has been very kind to us.
Our flight was delayed of 5 hours and , even if we had to leave the room in the morning, he left us hang around the house and we could use a private bathroom to have a shower before leaving to the airport!!We reallly appreciated this.
I would definitelly suggest this house to anyone going to Habana!!

Stay here if you can! I recommend it.

Just got back from Havana yesterday, stayed in 4 different Casas during my 2 week travel around the island, I can honestly say this one is the best by a mile.

Paid $34 CUC (£21) for a room with breakfast ($30 CUC without breakie), sadly only stayed one night though. It was a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, fresh juice, coffee, scrambled eggs (very well cooked by the way) and the only decent bread I've had since arriving in Cuba.

The rooms are very well designed with a modern contemporary feel to them, the Casa has been lovingly restored with massive high ceilings, great art around the walls and beautiful stained glass throughout the flat.

There is air-conditioning that works in the bedrooms, which is required in Havana, each rooms has a safe you get a key for, and I got lovely soft white towels that smelled flowery and it was all very clean throughout the casa.

Each room has an en-suite loo and shower with hot and cold high pressured running water, this is a massive luxury in Cuba. Having struggled to shower and wash my hair in the dripping showers elsewhere, it was a real treat to come here. It was also the first time I really slept well in Cuba as the room I stayed in was away from the main street so there were no chickens crowing, no horse and carts thundering down the street, no locals shouting out about the goods they are selling. I didn’t miss them either.

The casa is on a side street just behind the main shopping area in Havana, it’s really easy to find as a two minute walk into the hustle and bustle.

The owner(Raydel) is very friendly, and helped us by booking a taxi to the airport. He has internet access there which is rare in Cuba too and also let us leave our cases there for the day before we had to leave for the airport.

Down side, I don’t really have one except if you are a large couple you may find the rooms a tiny bit small for a Salsa but there is a large living room you can practice in, with the massive balcony doors looking out over the street below. Any way a single person I had more than enough room for me and my large case and a little Salsa. Loved this one!

Room Tip: As with all Casas don’t forget to negotiate a discount if you are staying for a more than one night.

We spent a total of 6 nights at Casa Obrapia (3 nights at the beginning and 3 nights at the end f our travels) and really loved the stylish decor, cleanliness, and location. They serve breakfast and dinner upon requests, but the options are very limited for vegetarians; we only ate (breakfast) once during our stay. We recommend paying a couple of more CUCs and go to the breakfast buffet at the Hotel Ingletera (5-10 minutes walk). The house itself is situated on a not the best looking street, but it's very safe (we've walked home late a few times and had no issues) and one block from Calle Obispo, the main vein of Havana Vieja. You're walking distance to everything!

Room Tip: We stayed in both room #2 and #3. Room #2 was smaller, but had a safe, while #3 had more space, it...
