Owner description: Youll find yourself humming Guantanamera on the ride home from this famous open-air nightclub show that presents a song-and-dance performance reminiscent of 1950s Cuba.

Whilst on holiday in Cuba we went to the Tropicana Club on my birthday. What a waste of money, £120 in total for the two of us ,for an hour and fifteen minutes. From arrival the service was awful, we arrived at 09.15 so we were a bit early, we weren't allowed in and made to stand outside. When we did get in the bar prices were extortionate, by the way there was a river at the bar and several large puddles in the dining room from leaks in the roof, also the lights went out severla times also because of the leaks. The show was indoors because of the weather, it was due to start at 10pm but was delayed, we wer eventually called at 10pm and told the show was going to start in 5 minutes time, we had just bought a round of drinks and weren't allowed to take these in iwth us to the show. In the hall where the show took place the tables and chairs where we sat were jammed in like sardines, it was more like a church coffee morning than an upmarket and very expensive club! The wine that was included in the price was about a quarter of a glass once the bubbles had went down, I tried to show the waiter but he just ignored me, the tapas looked as though it was sprayed onto the plate it was so thin it was transparent. The show eventually started at 11.05pm we sat in the hall for a full hour waiting after we were told it would start in 5 minutes, the costumes were amazing, wouldn't say the dancers were exceptional, not particularly in time and every dance was much the same and so was the music. It was pretty obvious they were only interested in getting your money, once they had that they couln't care less, service awful - not a good advert for the Cuban tourist industry.

We only did one expensive thing in Havana and this was it. We taxied to the Tropicana and found it in lush green surroundings. Its pricey but if you want a show, this is probably as good as Havana gets. We got a bottle of Havana Club upon arrival (included in the price), some coke and some sparkling white wine. We also had sandwiches prior to the performance. The show itself was terrific. We were fifteen yards from the main stage so had a good view. The sound system seemed perfect. It was nice to switch your eyes from the main stage up to he left to the watefall where more dancers appeared every so often. We had a warm evening so it was open air and just gorgeous. We had fun and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a little Vegas-style entertainment. Great costumes, plenty of variety and even a contortionist & strength act thrown in.

I paid nearly £100 for this show expecting great things and was thoroughly disappointed. Granted, due to the weather the show was indoors but being in the open air would hardly improve the costumes or the energy of the dancers. I dread to think what they get paid to prance around like that.........
Paid top whack for the "best seats in the house" which meant being right up close and personal with the performers and could see the school play-like quality of the costumes and the complete lack of enthusiasm. If you do still want to go, then try and sit in the middle to get a more mystical experience where you can't see the outfits' every hole and stain.
I disagree with previous comments about if this is your thing. Personally, I think that if you've never seen a cabaret before and this isn't your thing, then you might be impressed. However, you could probably catch just as good a show if not better in one of the bigger hotels in the city for a fraction of the price and you hopefully won't be rushed out the door as soon as the show finishes. All in all a bad experience but I am lucky enough to see lots of dance shows in London so may be biased. Make what you will.......

As manay of us are aware Cuba is filled with so much talent in area of dance, theatre, music, and art that it shouldn't have been a surprise to see such a high calibre presentations.Tropicana, although a little pricey is one of those places you can go at nights, sit under the stars, and be thoroughly entertained. The dancers, show girls,music.....it is all Las Vegas.

We paid 80cuc each and 30cuc taxi fare (about £150) plus 5 cuc per beer, which we feel is really expensive and most definitely not worth it. The show was ok(ish) but the sparkling wine was like vinegar and the canapes were foul - even the cats didn't eat any.

We went because we thought it was something you should do when you go to Havana - like visiting the Moulin Rouge if you go to Paris but it was so not worth the money and in hiindsite I would not have bothered.
