We just came back from Havana. We stayed at this hotel but we wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It is falling apart, literally. We had not hot water for one day and, when they finally changed us to the bungalows, the smell of sewer in our bathroom was awful. We contacted the agency Cuba Travel Network, that had booked our trip and they offered to change us to another hotel but we would have had to pay a surcharge. This is not a 4 star hotel. I doubt it has stars at all. I which I had read the other reviews before booking this hotel. Obviously the travel Agency doesn't care.

We booked this place just because we needed a place to adjust our jetleg.. After travelling for 24 houres. We alleready had booked the bungalow, but got a hotelroom insted as they said they where fully booked (we came quite late). And even though we got a big room with a view it's like what all the other turist write.. It was old, used, and noth worth those 4 stars that they have on their wall.
But after changing to the bungalow, meeting a fantastic bartender ( serving a perfect espresso after the worst and first cup of coffie ever in cuba), and taking the on and of bus going to havana and back... We discovered that this was the perfect place to stay for two things... Relaxing by the pool and spending more time at the pool... There is nothing else to do...

The hotel looks like it once had it' s glam and shine days, but not wanting to spend money on the tourist anymore.

Room Tip: Choose the bungalow, and make sure you get one that is not close to the sea.

Just came back from my 3rd stay at the Comodoro two weeks ago, Taking a Bungalo for the extra money is well worth it. The rooms are twice the size with a small kitchen to use and a living room with extra TV. I love the location of this property. It is near a mall with a grocery store and everything else you would need. It has two outside patios that serves great food and cheap drinks, next to it is Melia Habana which has Wi Fi and a beautiful pool that you can go to which is a bit nicer then the Comordoro. The Comordoro serves excellent food at the pool side restaurant. The restaurant serves excellent pizza and pasta near the lobby. You do not need the all inclusive as there are so many cheap restaurants to choose from in the area. I have read the other reviews and these people dont know what they are talking about. This is a great property, If you want 5 star then go stay at the Melia Cohiba for twice the money but why would you when a taxi ride is 5 pesos and you can enjoy the property, pool and restaurants for free. If you are single then this hotel is a great place to bring back the girls, Security will want a 25 dollar tip and you are all set to go for the night. Property is in the Miramar area and is the place to be and close to all the night life.

Room Tip: Bungalo near the pool

No way is this 4 star - 1 or 2 star at best. The whole place is shabby & antiquated. Everything looks like it needs updating & renovating. The back of the hotel was so run-down & falling apart it looked like Beirut! The room was big but basic, kept clean by the maids every day & the beds were comfortable, but the shower was virtually non existent & the fittings were old and falling apart. On the whole the staff were surly and not particularly helpful. The first night we couldn't sleep because the pool motor outside our room sounded like a jet engine all night. We asked to be moved & they said no but did get it turned off within 5 minutes, which was something. The buffet & a la carte restaurant was lovely tho & the breakfast first class. Plus the Cuban band who played in the bar on the Wednesday evening were amazing. Just next to the hotel is a very good shopping center, with supermarket, where there is also a little bar that pumps out the most brilliant dance music from 10am in the morning. The pool bar in the hotel is ok & the food there passable (burgers/omelettes kinda thing). Although these were some plus points & I enjoyed visiting Havana itself, I was very glad to leave this hotel.

Stayed for nights during a 2 center holiday in October. The first room we were taken to was disgusting. The fittings were broken, the bath was stained and filthy, the toilet didn't work. The bedcovers had some white crusty marks on them and the balcony overlooked an empty pool, now a concrete pit full of litter and a noisy main road. We asked for another room, as did everyone who arrived with us on the same trip (four couples and a family). The second room, although better was not great. the shower didn't work, the toilet broke during the night and the fridge had the wrong plug on it. The floor was very dirty and although cleaned by the maids they used a dirty string mop and dirty water. Just beyond the balcony (ground floor) were dozens of cigarette butts and other assorted litter, which was not cleared during the three nights we were there. The walkways were dark and dangerous at night as the lights around them didn't work. we did complain and the staff did fix the toilet and replace the fridge. Interesting to see that others have had stuff going missing from the rooms. It wasn't until we unpacked at our next destination that i found a t-shirt and a bra missing, which had been in my case. We had double checked the room before we left and nothing had been left, so I can only conclude that they were taken by the maid. Lock your case and keep valuables in the safe! I am disappointed that The Holiday Place, who we travelled with would even consider sending clients there-let alone grading it as a 4-star. It wouldn't scrape a 2 star and would probably be closed down by Environmental Health in England. Avoid!

Room Tip: Don't go there!

We stayed here 8 years ago at the end of our holiday. It was a fairly depressing end due to the shabbiness of this hotel and the 'couldn't care less but give me money' attitude of the staff so I was less than pleased to have to spend 4 days here at the start of this year's holiday. Still, I knew what to expect. What I hadn't counted for was 8 years of neglect. The room we were given first of all stank of damp as soon as we opened the door. The furnishings were filthy and the curtains were hanging off the railings. The air conditioning worked if you didn't mind standing with your hand in front of it...oh yes and there was an enormous cockroach in the bathroom. They changed us immediately to an upstairs suite. Much nicer and everything worked but again, really shabby - bath was very badly stained and the taps had verdigris all over them, net curtains were filthy and the sofa was badly stained. It's a real shame because the suites are lovely and a really good size. They would get far better reviews and more customers if they could only do some upgrading. Breakfast was pretty good but some of the breads/croissants were very bizarre. We ate in the small restaurant the night we arrived and it was very good. The pool side bar did really nice meals too - the pork and chips was delicious and I don't normally like fast food. I had a freak accident involving a toe nail the day before we left. The medical care was great and they insisted I saw the nurse at the next resort. Including the antibiotics we had to get and the repeat visits to get dressings changed, it was no more than 50 CUCs. The stray cats are horrible. They are diseased yet wander all around the eating areas. I don't mind stray cats but if you are going to allow them to wander over your hotel, you have to ensure that they get veterinary care. It's really hard to enjoy yourself when a cat with a diseased eye is staring up at you, begging for food. It was also quite revolting to be sitting at the pool side bar watching a group of male guests pawing over young Cuban girls who were clearly trying to earn a living. It was also really annoying to have a woman try one of the many scams to get money off a tourist whilst sitting at the pool side bar. It was particularly annoying when it became obvious that the staff knew her and appeared to be condoning her behaviour. Only stay here if it is unavoidable or at least have no illusions about what to expect.

Room Tip: Unless you have a door that faces on to the pool, ask for a first floor room. They are much nicer an...

Nice looking hotel and nice grounds but you get what you paid for. Large rooms but need updating. Had to change rooms because air con kept breaking down. Not really self catering as it had no utensils not even a glass or mug!!!
Staff are friendly and no problem with moving our room. Rooms are clean and chamber maids very friendly. Would stay here again but only if I was skint.

5cuc bus opposite is excellent!
Not many places to eat nearby but hotel restaurants are more than adequate and about average in terms of costs.

Room Tip: All the same unless you stay in actual hotel and not bungalow
