“Best sunset view”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

After not the best first experience, I had another chance to visit Castropol again. This time, I was able to enjoy the location, giving you one of the best sunset views you can find in Havana. Ask to be seated on the balcony upstairs to have this chance. Service was very attentive and friendly and I recommend to go for local Cuban food as this is just a right place to do so. For the local standards, they have also very good wine list. You will not be disappointed. Just book your table on balcony with a view on Castillo del Morro and enjoy your evening!

“Go there!”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

This restaurant on the Malecon looks like a snack bar downstairs but the real gem is upstairs. The upstairs room has a fantastic glass balcony overlooking the Malecon (great for watching the sunset) and has white liner/chair covers for a special feel. The food is great Cuban/Spanish (try the Ropa Vieja) and the house wine is great. Book and go!!

“My best meal in Havana”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We're recommended that we eat here by a fellow passenger on our flight to Havana and was not disappointed.

We were lucky enough to get a balcony seat offering great views over the Malecon. The menu was impressively large and varied. Food that we had was all delicious, the best we have in our three trips to Havana, all served to us with a smile by our lovely waitress.

I would definitely recommend eating here as I will on my next vist

“dreamy views, decent food, mad picketting by two angry trombonists”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

fabulous views up the malecon make an evening meal here muy romantic. The waiting staff are friendly and helpful, explaining dishes new to me. Drinks were fine, well proportioned and a decent glass of red wine. Food was overall very good. The only strange thing was the presence of two tuneless trombonists sitting across the road on the sea wall. Lacking in any musical talent, they blared their bugles throughout the night ( and indeed I saw them every night as I whizzed past in y coco taxi) . They reminded me of some malevolent curse from medieval times. Overall worth going to.

“Hidden gem”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

If you are staying in Centro Habana you should plan a stop here. The neighbourhood is gritty as the Malecon is still being restored but this is an oasis among the broken buildings and only 2 long blocks from the Prado. There are 2 menus for upstairs and the main floor. Great selection for the vegetarian, amazing items from the wood fired grill or pizza oven. Menu is large, the food very fresh and portions huge! Eggplant Parmesan and the lobster (langusta) in olive oil were superb. Large salad which can be rare in these parts. Off the beaten track so we had no reservation. This may change in time. Best value meal of our stay. Service very friendly and attentive.
