This colonial house is located in Havana Vieja, with great places to go walking distance. They open a new place next to the arts & crafts building wich is like a humongous bar (la cervecera) it is by the bay (malecon) both places are next to each other & walking distance from the house. The food & service was great & the owners & family were very friendly. My room & bathroom was super clean, with air condition & a fan to keep us cool, we took hot showers & slept great. There is also right across from the house a place were you can buy pizza, sandwiches, sodas etc... I decently recommend this house.

Rather a large casa. We think they have at least 5 rooms. Comfortable and quiet because you are away from the street. Location is good. Walking distance to old city is about 10 minutes. Owners are kind. Not pushing you for extras. English is limited.

We stayed with Ana and Miguel for both our visits. They are great people! And we enjoyed meeting their whole family, as everyone is very friendly. You can always count on someone being home any time of day or night.

If you love terraces, they have several, so you can choose which one suits you best! Reading, sitting in the sun, or taking your morning coffee. They even have several indoor spaces for the odd evening it might rain.

They also have a parrot named Paco, whom I adore. He is very photogenic.

The room on the second floor at the back of the house is by far the best room, so if you can ask for that one over the phone... you will love the romance of the colonial styled room.
Rooms have bathrooms, air conditioners and in-room safes. We found them to be clean and welcoming on both visits.
We ate breakfast every morning, refilled our water bottles from their water purifier in the kitchen and took to Havana or the beaches for the rest of the day.

A great location, walking distance to all the classic spots in Havana Vieja, but it also has a style of its own as the south end of this neighborhood is less swanky. It is has that charming grungy feel, but is still super safe, and has great bakeries and eateries nearby.
Also, very close to the 400 bus (public bus to playas del este)

My dad loves this place and loves chatting with Miguel. I love the location, and the dependable nature of Ana and Miguel's service, we will return to stay with them again! They are a really nice couple with a young family who care about you and the quality of your stay. Definitely recommended.

Room Tip: Not all the rooms are created equal. The room on the main floor at the back of the house is quieter, with the air conditioner going, as the ceilings are so high! The room on the second floor at the back of the house has so much natural sunlight, it is the best looking room, but you can hear the neighborhood roosters as you are higher, at rooftop level. The private terraces do have a great view though!

We really enjoyed the location of this casa. When you arrive the area does look run down. Our taxi had to drive over a pile of rubble in the middle of the street to get there (the driver was not pleased!). It is a residential area in Habana Vieja and the outside of the houses are crumbling and only the casas have the money for repairs, However, as others have said, run down does not mean dangerous. We felt completely safe walking there at night. What we really liked was staying in the "real Cuba" where people were just carrying on with their day to day lives - no one asked us if we wanted a taxi or tried to sell us cigars on this street! It is, like everywhere else in Habana Vieja, within easy walking distance of places like the Capitolo, Plaza Vieja, La Bodeguita.

The Casa itself is very interesting inside. You enter into the living room which is full of period furniture then though into the courtyard, which is open to the sky in the middle but mostly covered over with balconies. This is an eclectic space with a table where we had breakfast (very nice), some rocking chairs, a couple of trees, a parrot, a kitchen sink and a thermometer advertising laxative chocolates.

We were first shown to a downstairs bedroom which had no windows. We were then shown another room up a steep flight of stairs which had two windows looking out onto the roof which I preferred and that is where we stayed (my husband wasn’t too pleased to have to carry the cases up the stairs). Both rooms were clean and perfectly adequate. The aircon and fan worked very well. There was a fridge outside the room for our sole use. However my husband (an electrician) would not allow me to put on the hot water in the shower as he did not trust the electrics. The other problem with the room was that the safe did not work. We were promised that it would be repaired the following day but that never happened but we felt safe leaving our passports and money in the room. We did not see any other rooms or a garage which other people have mentioned.

We did not see Miguel at all but Anadoris was lovely. She was always available if we needed something. Like most casas you do not get a front door key and have to ring the bell to be let in. Anadoris is always there to open the door. I cannot think that she would ever make anyone feel awkward whatever time they came back. Although we could not speak much Spanish we still managed to make ourselves understood with gestures etc.

There were a couple of chairs and a table on the roof outsde but there was no view from the roof due to privacy screening.

We booked this casa through Pototo Travel Services and stayed for 3 nights. It was the most basic casa of the four we stayed in but was perfectly comfortable..

Room Tip: I preferred the room on the first floor but the stairs were steep

This casa was so much different from the first casa that we stayed at, in that it was of the colonial style. After having a room in a regular home, much like our own, and then going to this style of housing was a bit of a cultural shock. The appearance from outside to inside was like night to day. We walked through their living room to an open courtyard that was stunning. Our first room was up several stairs, which was not what we had specified, however the next morning we were transferred to the main floor room. This room was comfortable and came with an electronically operated safe box. We found Ana to be very gracious. Our four nights here were more than adequate.

Room Tip: If you have problems climbing stairs, be sure to specify the ground level room. If this room is not available look elsewhere.
