yes, the rooms are kind of oldish and it is not the place to stay if you are seeking a room with modern amenities. However, it is extremely quaint and charming. It has a lovely courtyard with a few peacocks strutting around and above all - it has one of the coziest cigar lounges in Havanna. And the location is top!

We stayed in room 6. We'd read from previous TripAdvisor reviews not to take room 5 because of the noise from the generator. Beware. You can also hear the generator in room 6! So, I didn't sleep too well here, but that shouldn't put you off this hotel. It is lovely, small, friendly and in a great location for old Havana. The breakfast is also pretty good for Havana. There is a resident peacock and bantam cockerel. The cockerel will crow at daybreak which didn't bother us as we live on a farm and have a bantam cockerel (so it was a bit of a home from home in that respect) but it might bother some.

Room Tip: Can hear the generator in rooms 5 and 6

We booked a couple of nice hotels for the beginning and end of our Cuba trip. This was the first hotel we stayed in and having read the previous reviews expected that this was the standard to be expected in Cuba: couldn't have been more wrong. We stayed in Casas for most of our trip which were 20% of the price of this hotel but with better cleanliness, better service and better atmosphere. If it is a nice hotel you are after, on our final night we stayed in Hotel Sevilla which really showed this place up - for less than the price we stayed in a beautiful, impressive building, had great service and hospitality, a clean white bathroom, a good breakfast and a swimming pool.

The hotel is fairly attractive and has a courtyard area but nowhere to relax in, apart from the room which is dark and shabby. Some seating/lounge area in the courtyard would make a big difference; the water feature was boarded up. The Lonely Planet had recommended the suites because of the stained glass windows and the whirlpool bath: there was one bit of stained glass that had no natural light and the bath was so stained that you wouldn't fancy using it. The best thing about the hotel is the location which is right in the old town. The breakfast was basic, stale and the worst we had on our trip.

It is an OK place to stay in but you can find much better, particularly for the price.

We loved this hotel. Centered in old Havana it was a great location. The staff were very sweet and helpful. I prefere a boutique style hotel sometimes and this fit the bill. We had room #2, it was a Jr. Suite right on the corner of the building overlooking a great street. It cost more but was worth it. I would go back anytime. The Peacocks weren't a noise issue in this room, we could hardly hear them. I read in other reviews that these birds were a problem but that was not my experience.

Room Tip: Room #2 was big and beautiful but it looked like all the rooms were good.

We've literally just returned from a two week holiday in Cuba and spent our first 2 nights here. It was the perfect place for us to explore Havana from as it's situated right in the centre of the old town near lots of fantastic sights, walking tours and opposite a particularly nice paladar called Paladar Los Mercaderes. The building was beautiful, although the rooms were a little outdated and the breakfast was poor. We felt it was expensive for what it was, given the fantastic food and hospitality we experienced in Casa's. However, the location does make up for that somewhat. If you're looking for a classic colonial hotel in the old town then we'd recommend this.

This is a well located hotel in Old Havana in an old house. It has good size rooms but they are in need of some updating. The towels are small and thin and the beds uncomfortable. Breakfast is poor and in general the service needs to be taken up to another level. It is an OK place to stay because of its location but no more.

This was my first stay in Cuba. Despite a late arrival at Havana airport, the staff at the front desk were attentive and quick. Luggage was taken up to the room, which was around a delightful colonial atrium. The room was spacious with a high ceiling, and there was a clean bathroom with shower as well as television and a fridge/mini bar. There is also a room safe which is extremely useful. Security staff on the door was also a plus, and they will change money at the hotel desk if you don't want to queue at CADECA.

There is a wake-up call from the delightful peacock and peahen who have happily taken residence in the courtyard, as well as several chickens. Breakfast is sufficient - coffee, freshly sliced fruit, bread, butter, conserves and an omelette. That's all you really need, although fruit juice or water would have been a bonus.

The internal atrium/courtyard and its vegetation is a real draw because whether it is morning or evening, it is beautifully kept and looks fantastic. Opening the room door to a bright blue sky shining in from the courtyard is amazing in the morning. You could spend a lot more elsewhere and get little extra for your money, so it proved a great base in Old Havana!
