“Excellent boutique hotel with excellent location”
Reviewed 12 May 2013

We really enjoyed this hotel. It is an excellent boutique hotel with an excellent location. It's about a 15/20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride from Old Havana which means you can get easily to the bustle of Old Havana without being constantly in the noise of that area (albeit I do have to say that the traffic noise on the Malecon where the hotel is located is also quite high). We felt perfectly safe walking between the hotel and Old Havana but sometimes took a taxi because of the heat. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The Junior Suites 401 and 402 are the best rooms in the hotel. Both are on the top floor. They bot...

This is the newest hotel in Havana and it is a breath of fresh air when compared to the rest of the aging hotels in Cuba!

I stayed at this hotel after spending 2 miserable nights at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.

The rooms are clean and new. The shower is hot and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is a couple of kms away from Old Havana- just a quick coco taxi ride away. The hotel is on the Malecon, so you get oceanviews, but it is a little noisy.

The food and drinks are good and the included breakfast is great.

We arrived a little earlier than normal check in time and the room wasn't completely made up - we were missing a few towels. The concierge tried to charge us for these towels when we left, so my advice is to notify them of anything that is not provided when you check in!

We had two nights at this marvellous, small hotel, situated on the Malecon (approximately no 575 on the Malecon, in practical terms) and can recommend it and the little restaurant (where the evening meal and the breakfast were served). We would agree with the enthusiastic comments made in ckarba and ElCubanito 1's reviews. We were booked into a twin bedded room (no 302) - spacious and modern, overlooking the Malecon, with a view of the busy thoroughfare and out across the ocean to ships entering and leaving Havana's harbour.

Our second night was a stormy one, with the wind whistling through a small gap between the sliding doors. I couldn't get a seal, but no problem, we just felt cosier!

What a gorgeous little hotel. We had a very warm welcome at this new boutique hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Vladimir at the front desk was exceptional and organised various bookings and events for us.

The location is on the Malecon so a short walk to the old city .Every room over looks the ocean and are clean and spacious.

Try to stay on the 4th floor if you can (there are only 2 top rooms on that floor with a large balcony). Avoid level 1 or 2 due to noise, but I guess you are not going to Cuba to stay in your Hotel all day ;-)

This hotel is realy outstanding - design, friendliness of the staff, location - all is first rate and I can only recommend you stay there while visiting Havana. very special thanks to Yuni Castillo (front desk manager) who helped me with my reservations in a polite and effective way I thought impossible in Cuba. I will definitely be back.

We rocked up here mega excited for the last 2 nights of a 3 week self-made tour of Cuba. We'd booked and paid for the hotel 4 months prior to arrival online and had the confirmation plus debit of the full price from our bank accounts.

When we arrived off the bus from Vinales at 11am we were told we couldn't stay due to a problem with a room key card. We didn't believe this.

Other guests were complaining of the noise from the Malecon as we were in reception and clearly there is a big problem with this.

The hotel looks pretty nice if somewhat sterile - and frankly the location aside from a decent view of the city and Malecon is pretty average.

As it turns out we were transferred to a stunning 5 star in Plaza San Francisco and so can't really complain!

The Hotel Terral is a great choice in Havana. Situated directly on the Malceon and halfway between the attractions of the old town and the newer Vedado district, it really is perfectly located. Sea views from every room also help to make the hotel very special. Service from all staff was excellent. The breakfast had a superb range of choice. Dinner was also very good by Cuban standards. Rooms are massive, very large and modern, clean with large balconies overlooking the sea. The whole place has been renovated to a high standard. Good mini bar and range of channels on TV. It is true that you can hear the road outside (the road being the malceon - one of the quintessentially Cuban sites in the country) but this was not an issue for us. It just gave us the wake up call to get up, out and explore this incredible city. Cuban hotels are not all like the Terral. This is modern and cool, and is rightly the best hotel to stay in Havana. Thoroughly recommended.
Tip - change money at the airport or, if you can be bothered, find a bank in centro Havana - the hotel rate here is a little lower than elsewhere.
