“El Malecon”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

My wife and I took a nice long walk from our hotel ( Seville ) through town and along the Malecon, we stopped for lunch along side the wharf and then took a ride back to our hotel in a pink Cadillac.

We had such a good time on our own and we have good memories about that day.

“sometimes less is more and sometimes less is just less”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

I was staying a few blocks up the Prado and would try every night to make it to the Malencon. Yes, at sunset there are many locals and tourists waiting on the sun to set but it empties after dark as there is very little in terms of nightlife to keep you. It makes for a long walk during the day but at least you can look at the crumbling architecture in downtown Havana. Out a ways, the buildings are a little newer and there is always coffee at the National Hotel. Really interesting for photos in heavy weather. If you are a sunset watching person, its fine but otherwise, it is the same thing every day.

“Very nice.”

The walk through El Malecon has a great feeling. You get too see many locals on your way and appreciate of the beauty of the seafront landscape. Very awesome on fridays and saturdays because it would be crowded of locals which is a great thing too meet new friends. Malecon night life goes right in front of hotel nacional. Very good.

“A stroll not to be missed”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

The Malecon is the main boulevard in Havana running along the sea. It consist of a wide sidewalk and a seawall. On many nights, but in particular on the weekends, hundreds, if not thousands of people (mostly younger, but not adolescents) gather to socialize, play and listen to music, and enjoy local beverages.
The crowds are friendly and happy to greet visitors.
Since there are very few places for people to congreagate and socialize, this lenghty walkway serves as the social gathering place in Havana.
Even during the day, you wil find some folks "Hanging Out", mostly to appreciate the ocean, or the sunset. Perhaps to dream about travel to the U.S. which is 90 miles loooking out towards the ocean? One couple saw me taking a few photos and asked if I'd like them to take one of me.
They even offered me a bit of their liquor.
This is part of Havana's ambiance which shouldn't be missed.
