Our stay here was part of the cultural stop of our honeymoon prior to a relxation stop in Varadero.

The Saratoga is perfectly situated at the edge of the Old town and just across from the famous and very interesting Partagas cigar factory.

The hotel itself is exquisitely decorated with a truly grand feel to it. The staff are very well turned out and highly professional whist being helpful in a friendly, almost charming, fashion.

The rooms are very clean, incredibly spacious and the beds are just wonderful. Large and very comfortable.

There is a very useful concierge service and advice on places to visit is always on offer. Trips can also be booked from here and we managed to get over an hour's ride in an open top 1952 Oldsmobile for two around the new town, Havana's suburbs and the forest for 30 (CUC) Pesos. A great way to see the city.

The food is good by Havana standards and the breakfast selection was more than enough for even the most consuming of europeans. There are several places to eat within the hotel itself, the most interesting being situated high up on the roof overlooking the grand architecture of the Capitolo building and along side the rooftop swimming pool which is a welcome sight after a day of Havana's hot sun baked streets.

If Cuba was closer than it is I'm sure we'd return here as a base for more adventure.

We cannot recommend ths place enough.

Room Tip: Ask. If there is one free they will oblige.

This is undoubtedly the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Yes, 5* in Cuba isn't the same as 5* in Western Europe or the US, but dirty flee ridden rooms, my 5 year old expected to sleep on a hospital bed, the most miserable service staff in history who don't bother to serve, under cooked food and unclean pool area is not what is expected. Disgraceful!

The Saratoga is at the very heart of Havana, virually everything is on the doorstep; the Capitolio is just across the street as is the Fábrica de Tabacos Partagás (cigar factory, an absolute must!).
The hotel itself is one of the best in Havana; we had a lovely room at the front, overlooking both the above. Bed was wonderful, bathroom great.
The rooftop pool was a lovely way to cool down after a morning’s sightseeing, but there should be more sun loungers. The layout has obviously changed with tables and a shadded area but it means only ten people, in a large hotel, can sunbathe.
The Staff are great and the concierge can arrange any trips. Didn’t eat in ther restaurant but did have breakfast, very good by Cuban standards. The bar is great and a good place to wind down at the end of the evening.
Cuba is what it is, this is a 5 star hotel by Cuban standards but falls a little short by European standards, I love it for this, it is definitly ‘Cuban’.

Beautifully appointed hotel. Very friendly, efficient staff. Gorgeous room - we stayed in an inner courtyard facing room on the 3rd floor which was quiet and had a really comfortable bed. Great bar and the restaurant was lovely with some interesting choices on the menu. The pool and bar on the roof were great to chill out.

Perfect location and friendly staff. Great old building and very cool inside. The food was better than most other hotels in Havana which is great given that food is not a national speciality, and the service prompt. Being alone with a small child, I felt safe here and the location was perfect for touring. The room was a bit loud on the street side and the hotel is near a fire station. The rooftop was the best in the city and the pool great. The hotel was very clean. Great bathrooms and very tall high ceilings; my son's crib was almost the size of a twin bed! The breakfast was wonderful and it was the best meal of the day. Very attentive staff. We would return again for sure. We have been to Havana many times and I will only stay at The Saratoga from now on.

Room Tip: Higher up is best.

I thought this hotel was quite good. The furnishings are moden, the rooms are large and the staff are friendly. The beds were very comfortable. The location couldn't be bettered as it is close to things to see in Havana. Breakfast was reasonable. There is a bar on the first floor that serves food but the service was slow. Besides the general dining area and the bar that serves food, there is a roof top dining area that has good views over the city of Havana. The swimming pool is also in that area on the roof top. In some of the rooms of the hotel it is a bit noisy if there are people in the bar at night because the bar is in the centre of the hotel and the noise drifts straight up to the rooms (don't get a room with a window that looks over the bar). I stayed at this hotel twice so the second time I made sure I had a room that didn't have a window that overlooked the bar. The bathroom was modern with everything supplied. I would stay at this hotel again.

Beautiful old building with superb rooftop pool that has wonderful views. Staff were very helpful although the lobby was small and could get crowded. Central position with comfortable rooms. Would definitely recommend.
