Was booked to stay here by a tour for two nights and after reading the reviews was very concerned. But I found it to be a decent place. The front desk staff were friendly. At dinner we asked for some extra things and the staff was more than accommodating. The room was basic but clean. Don't remember if there was a safe and didn't use. The pool area was decent as well. It was centrally located and I felt safe enough to go for a jog everyday. Its not a 5 star hotel but I don't see what the negative reviews were about. I had a nice stay.

Ignoring previous reviews and out of desperation we decided to stay three nights at this hotel. Big mistake. Got hustled outside and thought we would be safe inside but the hustler followed us in and shook hands with the receptionist !!
What details are they sharing with outsiders!!?
Breakfast staff are seriously rude. The room was clean but didn't feel safe at all.
Glad to get out of there.
Oh well, at least you have been warned.

We stopped for a night either side of a trip to Baracoa and it was nice split this way. The hotel has a good breakfast with lots to choose from the buffet and fresh omelettes. There are also some restaurants nearby- Bucaneros was the best. Its in an nice and safe location away from the centre but only a 30 minute walk or quick taxi ride. There was an open air music concert on when we were there which was fun! Also teh hotel staff have entertainment around the pool which is a nice break from the heat though is small. The rooms are spotless with first class bathrooms, showers and hot water. after many issues travelling in Cuba this bathroom was heavenly! Easy to arrange trips to nearby San Juan hill.

I agree with two previous reviews completely. This hotel is badly run and is not safe.
There is definitely an unhealthy relationship between some of the hotel staff and the numerous hustlers prowling the area.
There is also a breakfast waiter/chef (thin one with shaved head) who is extremely unpleasant toward hotel guests. On my last morning there I noticed he had a group of 'female friends' visit him after a busy 'night shift' and they helped themselves to the buffet which is why he probably works there.
Doubt the manager or customer relations department (yes, they really have one) have what it takes to sort this debacle of a hotel out.
Steer clear !!!

we stayed in Las Americas in january as we checked in really late so we didnt have much desire to drive around to seek a better deal, but there is another hotel across the street which is excellent nad 5star, we were travelling on the budget so we stayed at "very average - simple no frills" hotel for couple nights. its in the middle of the city, so in the day its plenty people to see around and quick to get around.

what we liked the most about this hotel is, for cuban standard, the huge and hot stand up shower. otherwise its nothing special, in the morning i heard traffic which kept me up i didnt like, but my husband didnt mind.

if you have extra bucks invest in Sol Melia across the street, it has a lot more to offer if you planning on staying longer. we were happy to check out, we didnt encounter any particular problems with anything, it just looks really outdated, the architecture looks very typically straight and simple, not too much beauty, they should make it an office building instead, perhaps.

food, drinks are not included

there is a disco adjacent to the hotel which seemed cubanly okay, considering that you are not on the resort filled with tourists rather in the regular hotel in middle of the big city, get a bottle and get drunk the music is very fast and hot and so are the cubans, but please dont dress too overly provocative or they will think you are one of the local prostitute. there are many male prostitutes as well. i would wanna go there alone or i can easily see id get "attacted".

there is just a street view from your room, not too romantic, but the sun and the heat is sure to make up for it.

I stayed in this hotel from 18. of November to 20. of November. The night before leaving, I found out that 160Euros were stolen from the safe. The code to the safe was 4 numbers.

The management of the hotel did not take the theft seriously, they said that it was impossible to open the safe from outside the room.

So be very carefull if you are planning to stay in this hotel.
