Fortress was initially built several centuries ago to defend Santiago de Cuba city. Nowadays the site includes the small museum inside with English guide. Go there to enjoy the spectacular view on surrounding sceneries.

On a clear day you can see Jamaica from here. If you can, pick a cloudy or cooler day to visit because the combo of sun and rock can be difficult. Also try to find someone who knows the history to tell you some extra details beyond the signage. There are lots of steps to access the various levels of this interesting structure. The architecture is something to see.
