Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Find a rum you like and sample it before you buy it. Most of the Rum can be purchased there or at other venues throughout Varadero. There can be quite a difference in price from one place to another. Keep in mind that you have to put your Rum in your stowed luggage and you are not allowed to carry it through security. But you can purchase upstairs in the airport and carry on if you wish. Check with your provincial liquor and gaming for your allowable limits to import to your province. The Federal duty and tax exempt limit is 1.14 liters, however as long as you declare and pay your duties and taxes, you can bring back what ever your province permits. In Alberta you are permitted to bring back 45.45 litres (of which 1.14 litres is duty and tax free) once every 90 day period. As long as an Alberta airport is your 1st stop back into Canada, CBSA will process 9 litres and hold the remainder of your import in balance until ALGA processes the remaining litres. You will be notified of the completion of process, your cost, and how and when you can retrieve your Rum. You will have to pay, duty, taxes, Alberta Provincial Mark up Fee and GST. STILL much cheaper (and better) than buying any rum here.
