“I've said it before - Royal Service is 5 Star Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Our family has stayed at the Paradisus 7 times since 2007. We are already booked for our 8th trip next February. We have stayed in the Royal Service for the last 6 of those 7 visits and are returning to the Royal Service once again.

We have stayed in many great Caribbean hotels. This one is the best, with the best staff, best service, great food, and one of the best beaches in the world.

Dario Fernandez is the general manager for the entire hotel. Dayamis Logilde is the Royal Service manager. Between the two of them, with the help of their fabulous staff, they will provide you with an unforgettable experience. You will want to keep returning as we and so many others do.

I have written reviews about the hotel after our previous trips. They are more detailed and longer than this. You might find them a good source for additional information and you can find these earlier reviews on the Trip Advisor reference included with this review.

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room facing the ocean.

Well I can't fault this place at all. We had a loverly time here celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We could have had an upgrade for the last few days but to be honest decided not to. I'm not a fish eater and neither is my wife so the buffy resterant was fine for us. We also booked into all the al a carte resaurants and enjoyed all of them. We made a few friends whilst we were there which makes the evening go by much better. A little tip to the waitress and she just kept bring me drinks, you didn't need to ask. If she saw you glass near empty then a fresh one would appear. The rooms are big and spacious and some might say the bathrooms are dated, but they are spotlessly clean and everything worked. If you spend your holiday in your room then upgrade.
We went on a couple of trips but would never go back to Havana. The area is full of beggers and artists wanting money for the drawing they done of you to people tring to take photos of you with your camera and then charging you. Apart from that( which is nothing to do with the Hotel) we had a fab time and will return one day in the future. Next long haul is Mexico so it may be after that

Room Tip: It doesn't matter were you are. Ring reseption and someone will pick you up and take in a 4seat...

We have just returned from our eighth visit to Paradisus Varadero Royal Service and that really says it all. As always, we had a wonderful holiday and cannot fault the service that we received. We have said it all before but it is the staff who make this such a wonderful place and we cannot thank them enough.

From the moment you arrive, the reception staff and the butlers are there to help whenever they are needed and the butlers are always around every day and will help in any way they can.

The main part of the hotel was quite quiet as they were refurbishing the main swimming pool but this in no way affected the Royal Service section apart from the main buffet being closed for a couple of nights. However, we were offered reservations in one of the A La Carte restaurants on these nights and of course also had the option of room service. Whilst on the subject of the buffet, we do find the quality and variety of food available very good and the staff always have a smile and will do their best to help in any way they can. In Bella Mar, the Royal Service A La Carte restaurant, Katy and the gang continue to offer a service second to none at Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and the food is always excellent. Lewis ‘The Egg Man’ at breakfast also deserves a mention and makes the best omelettes and scrambled egg and always with a smile.

The grounds are kept immaculate by Yosbani and his team and there has been some recent refurbishment around the Royal Service Pool and Jacuzzi areas, and a few more Cabanas are now available.

The service around the pool is the best and all of the staff that work at the pool bar and around the pool make our holiday relaxing and fun, there are a lot to mention but Cheena, Darvin, Julio, Anel and Marilyn are a few who deserve a special mention.

If you are thinking of visiting Cuba, Paradisus Varadero will not disappoint and we would thoroughly recommend it in every way. We can’t wait to get our ninth trip booked and see our second home and all of our Cuban friends and family again (hopefully October 2014 !!)

This is our second visit to the Paradisus having married there 5 years previous and decided we wanted to celebrate our anniversary at the hotel where we wed.
We received a room upgrade from our wedding co-ordinator which is more than we could have asked for.

The hotel was generally quiet given it was their low season. We were offered a different hotel by our tour operator as the main pool was closed for refurbishment which we refused but it may help explain why the hotel was emptier than neighbouring hotels if other potential visitors were offered alternative accommodation due to the pool closure.

It was lovely to return to the hotel where we have such happy memories and it was a shame that the gorgeous main pool was closed however we were very happy round the Royal Service pool where the staff Ivan, Anel, Darvin & especially Lidiami were wonderful as were all the waiting staff in the restaurants and main lobby bar especially Laritza & Sainet.

We can't wait to return hopefully well before our 10th anniversary!

Dear David B
For us it is an honor that you chose the Paradisus Varadero Hotel to celebrate your Wedding Anniversary.
Indeed, the low occupancy of the Hotel, is mainly due to the closure of the main pool for maintenance and better facing the high season. Luckily, we hope this fully operational this week, which will help us to improve our customer satisfaction and above all to increase the number of guests staying in the hotel.
On behalf of Paradisus Varadero welcome your comments on your stay with us. We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday in our hotel and hope to see you back soon, to this "home" in Cuba.
We will be sure to pass your comments to the staff and thank you very much once again for sharing your good impressions with other readers of this portal.
Best Regards

This was our fifth trip back to Paradisus and as always, our visit was wonderful. The staff are all amazing people who work very hard to make sure the guests enjoy themselves and we've had the opportunity to make many good friends there. My wife and I stay in a suite in the Royal Services section of the resort and find that the added costs is well worth it. I've read some reviews that question if the added expense is worth it, but for us there is no question. Private driver to and from the airport, a 24hour reception and butler desk that also ready to help. A quiet and uncrouded private pool with huge cabanas and a great bar and pool staff, a secluded beach area that has a sandy section as well as a natural rock area and decent snorkelling 20 meters out, a classy lounge/bar area with highly professional bartenders, free computer room, an al a carte breakfast, lunch and dinner made to order in a private restaurant with great servers and excellent chef and 24 hour butler service to attend to all the little things you want help with. All of this plus the incredible room. The royal service room are great. Large, well maintained suites with only four units to a building. Great balconies to view the ocean, watch the sun set or lay out in the sun bed. Huge bathrooms with a his and hers side, huge Jacuzzi tub and killer outside roman shower. Even the walk-in closets remind you that you're living the dream. Comfortable king size bed, pillow selection, good TV that can be swiveled to watch from the patio if you want.
The rest of the resort also has incredible grounds and the by far the best beach in Cuba at an all-inclusive. There's several other good restaurants on site and the main pool is enormous. Every time we go down, we hear complaints from a few other guests about little things that let ruin their vacation like a burned out light or steak that doesn't taste like home. If you really want to enjoy a trip to Cuba, remember that it is a developing country with limited resources but a great culture that the people have protected and take pride in. Also, go out and explore a city or town to get a bit of a feel for the real Cuba.

Room Tip: Royal Service suites!

To celebrate my wife's birthday I booked a week in Cuba staying at the Paradisus Varadero Resort.
I read several reviews on Tripadvisor and it was one of the best so I booked it. The Paradisus Varadero Resort is a 5 star resort and has two parts to it, one the normal section and two the Royal Service section. We stayed in the Royal Service section and this is very important as we found out whilst there that they are very different. There are parts of the normal section that you really would question are they 5 star and from what we saw and heard from other visitors it was not up to standards.
Now for the Royal Service section. This part of the resort has its own entrance and immediately you can see the buildings and grounds are very well kept. I booked the Romance Suite which was about 50 meters from the beach giving us amazing views of sunrise and sunset over the sea. As part of the Royal Service transfers to and from the airport are included. The Suite is very large and well equipped. It has large glass doors looking out towards the beach/sea where you could either sit inside on the sofas or outside on your own patio chairs or a rather comfortable sun bed. There is a very large and comfortable king size bed, large flat screen TV, CD/DVD player and mini bar stocked with soft drinks, water and Champagne. The bathroom is incredibly huge offering his and her sinks, a large double Jacuzzi, separate toilet and a beautiful secluded outside shower (the outside shower is absolutely brilliant). As part of the Royal Service you are given your own personal Butler which is an amazing thing to have. Your Butler does everything to make your stay super special and he did just that. He booked all our meals, he organised and booked our trip to Havana in two different old American cars with an English speaking tour guide and he arranged our trip to Varadero city centre. Also on my wife's birthday he ran a scented Jacuzzi bath, had music playing and filled the bathroom with fresh flowers. He also made sure we had Champagne at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Again our dinner table was beautifully decorated and we ate at the Romantic Restaurant with live music, seating us right at the very front of the stage. He even organised the pool bar staff to bring us an ice bucket with Champagne whilst we were sunbathing. The whole Butler thing was amazing and I have to give him 10/10 his name is Isaac and if you can get him as your Butler you won't be disappointed. Having said that all of the staff on the Royal Service section were fantastic.
The only downside to this resort is the food portions at the a la carte restaurants, they are on the small side. Maybe this is due to it being an all inclusive resort. Having a healthy appetite I was often left a bit hungry but in despite of this my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Paradisus Varadero Resort, Havana and Cuba.
Cuba is a truly amazing place to visit.
My advice is to tip these wonderful people as they greatly deserve and appreciate it.

My Wife and I celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary here after a three night stay in Havana.
On arriving at the main reception we were abruptly told, by the receptionist, that we were booked in to another part of the resort, not having made it clear that we had infact been upgraded to Royal Service. After a frosty reception we were taken to the Royal Service part of the resort which was definitely up a notch or two in terms of quality and service. Our suite was fantastic and the views of the gardens pleasant with a slight view of the sea. Overall we had a very pleasant stay the treatment in Royal Service was very good with lots of pleasant staff. We spent a lot of time around the pool and walks along the beach. We tried the restaurants that were available, some were not open during our seven night stay and towards the end of our stay the main pool was closed for maintenance which made the Royal Service pool much busier. There was very good entertainment available every night and the resort has much to offer. The resort was not full as it was early in the season and so was quiet at times, however, for us this was fine. Anna our tour rep, together with the hotel, arranged a wonderful anniversary dinner for us. The butlers were very good, in particular Luis and Lester also our maid and some of the gardeners were very friendly as were the restaurant staff that we saw regularly. We enjoyed our stay very much and Royal Service made the difference. We would return.
