It is not the score of the winning game between Germany and Brazil, but the number of times I've been to Cuba, but the first time in Blau Varadero. We have been there for 10 days and generally we are pretty satisfied, but we do have some suggestions. First of all there should be showers on the beach and the life guards should stop hanging by the beach restaurant and start doing their job. Also, the barmaid at the beach restaurant could be a little bit more happy, such as Raydel and Norberto. Once every two days, a hot lunch was organized on the beach, the cooks were really nice and friendly, they made you feel welcomed, and the food was good. There was some activities on the beach such as Volleyball and dancing lessons- thanks to Rosy and Roberto. Funny thing, once the Big Boss arrived from vacation, it seemed that there was more activities than before. The night time shows weren't really good. Roly was the cook in the restaurant next to the beach, and his fish was delicious. He even brought your food to your table, making you feel special. There are also two restaurant A la carte, the Real Palma and the Mexican restaurant. We strongly recommend the Real Palma for their steaks and their varadero shrimps. Thanks to Daylin and Pavel for their awesome service at Real Palma where you can drink some famous 20years old Santiago de Cuba Ron. This rum should be served at the lobby bar and the piano bar. The quality of drinks wasn't really good taking under consideration that it is suppose to be a 4 star hotel. We would like to thank Yazury for her good service at the lobby bar and the quality of her drinks. Some bartenders at the lobby bar should be reminded that their job is to serve tourists instead of talking together. The food overall was good and there was a good variety- thanks to Chef Ivan and his dominicanian partner , except for breakfast. The guy in charge of making eggs and omelets, should make them the way the tourists wants them, not the way he feels like doing it. We talked to Rolando the manager of food and beverages about that matter but it changed nothing. The service at the buffet is really good, we especially liked Armando's service. A big minus of the hotel are the elevators. It is so hot in them and they are really slow. Rooms are quite big but you can see that the supplies are aged. A little refreshment is needed. The maid's service is good when you leave a good tip and acceptable when you don't. You have a big balcony with a view on the ocean from every room. We do recommend this hotel, although at that time of the year (June 25th to July 5th) it was too hot for us. We would also like to thank our tour guide, Tony from Cubancan, for his good explanations during the tour to Havana which we highly recommend.
