Lagun is a small, sheltered beach at the end of a wonderful bay for snorkeling. Drawn onto the beach lie several fishing boats. So, after snorkeling (go there yourself, it is great!), we went into Discover Diving restaurant and ordered food. A fish (she) and fried cuts of fish (me).
The fish was tough. My cuts of fish were tough, too, and not recognizable as fish at all. Or rather, they were leathery somethings cut into the shape of a fish(!) and fried in batter. Back home in Holland, I discovered these same things being sold in the deep-freeze department of my local supermarket, so probably this product had been exported from Holland to Curaçao to be sold in a diving restaurant on the coast.
The meal came with french fried potatoes. Judging by taste and texture, these had been imported as well. No match at all for the locally-made french fries we had tasted elsewhere.
But to end on a more positive note: the cats in the restaurant, all five of them, were less picky than we were. So they got all the fish and they adored it. The girl that served us was very nice and friendly. The beer was cold and tasted excellent. And after we left, we went to another restaurant and had a very nice and tasty meal.
