“historic fine dining”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

This is the oldest existing plantation house in Curacao and is definitely worth a visit. It has been turned into a restaurant and somewhat of a cross between a hostel and a hotel.
The outdoor restaurant has a relaxed and breezy ambiance surrounded with orchids and fearless beautiful birds that fly right on your table to taste whatever you've ordered.Typical dutch pancakes and your usual breakfast is available from 9am,a bit late if you want to make an early start . Lunch and dinner consist of a delicious choice of vegetarian, nonveg and seafood made the european way ,all served with their famous homegrown salad.Their bouillabaise is worth mentioning and their winelist is equally impressive .The service is good and the staff very helpful.
The rooms are very basic but comfortable ,the appartments are perfect if you are in need of a retreat .Good for short or longer stays as they have a fully equiped kitchen. The gardens and the pool are sure to sooth away any stress!
Not a place for those in search of luxury or those who cannot part from their tv!!

“Excellent experience !!”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

I picked this restaurant for a farewell dinner with friends that live on Curacao, not knowing whether they had dinner here before (always dangerous). Fortunately, they told me they had not been to this place in many, many years... in fact they could not remember eating at the place at all. The outdoor (but covered) seating and atmosphere was very pleasant.

We arrived a little early and enjoyed our drinks waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. There was a steady flow of visitors but it did not get overcrowded. It appeared that all the guests had a good time, including a handful of folks that were having drinks at the bar. The service was rather informal and the personnel certainly took their time in between visits to the table. So, don't visit Landhuis Daniel for a quick in-and-out dinner..... We, however, absolutely loved the fact that we did not have a waitress coming to the table every other minute asking "is everything ok, do you need anything else, etc?". We had the time to have pleasant conversations with our friends who we probably will not see for some time.

Oh, what about the food? Excellent !! I ordered the Argentinean steak with pepper sauce and I can honestly say that it has been quite some time since I have had a steak this good (certainly, there are a couple of places here in Charleston SC that serve outstanding steaks as well). I believe that the others were equally pleased with their food choices (stuffed pepper, fish "kabeljauw", a "surf and turf" - albeit with a different name). A special treat are the veggies that are grown on their own property and that accompanied the respective dishes.

Overall a great experience and a memorable farewell dinner. Highly recommended !!

“Pleasant surprise”
Reviewed 10 July 2014 via mobile

Dropped by for an early dinner. The outdoor seating setup is quite common in the Banda abou side of the Island. The menu was divided into an a la carte and a 3-4 course menu. Since the menu did not have a kids section- we actually wanted to leave when they brought up the pancake menu consisting of both sweet and savoury pancakes at reasonable prices. I am glad we stayed, the kids loved it. The adults had the land&sea combo and the sirloin which was cooked to perfection. The sides of home grown salad and a leek/zucchini gratin with Gouda cheese were very good. Prices are ok

“Pleasant outdoor setting, good food”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

We had two meals in this very pleasant little outdoor restaurant and both were good to very good. Salads dressed up with egg and bacon or brie and candied nuts include home grown greens and were excellent and so was a bouillabaisse. A steak was good but a notch below the bouillabaisse.

“Spectacular ...........no”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

Visited this restaurant in the week of the restaurants. I can concurr wirh others regarding the service. They can be more friendly. They can use more warmth welcoming visitors. We missed that. The food was neither good or bad, average. i had onionsoup, crispy anchovis and vietnamees pork with cucumber salad. The soup and anchovis where good. The pork was a little bit hard while they could infomr you that the salad is hot.
My husband had frogleg and these were also hard; the skritsteak was nothing spectacular. It was our first time and for ua it was oke.
The flowers in front of the prperty gives the enviirnment a special touch.
