“Not Worth the Trip”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

We ate at the Blues Jazz Bar because we were staying at the Avila Hotel. After a day of travel we were too tired to go off-site, and it was supposed to be the famed "Burger Night." My girlfriend go the burger, I ordered the fajitas and we got them both about 3 minutes after we ordered them. That's when the red flags went up. When you get a burger faster at a restaurant more quickly than McDonald's - it's either not cooked, or pre-cooked. Her burger - my fajita's obviously cooked hours before we got there and stuck in a microwave. Don't waste your time - there's a McDonald's in Willemstad.

“Great atmosphere”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

I enjoyed everything about this place. Our server was very nice and attentive, The food was good and the atmosphere was great. We went on a Thursday night when they had live music. The band sat on a stage above the bar. We enjoyed a water view, great music, & good food.

“Skewered by the Blues”
Reviewed 7 April 2014 via mobile

While the location, perched at the end of a pier at the Avila Hotel, has unique potential, our experience on a windy evening felt like the deck of a rocky boat with wind flapping the tarp next to our tables.

Unfortunately, our dining experience on Saturday night was less than optimal. While the place is billed as a Blues Bar, no music played despite several full tables. The menu entries are labeled with the names of musicians, but do not clearly explain that this is a modified Brazilian steakhouse concept with small skewers that hang from hooks on the table.

The grilled beef and chicken thighs were each truly delicious and seasoned well. Ribs were a bit fatty. Unfortunately, the salmon seemed poached without flavor; perhaps it may not work well on a skewer. The rice and beans are good and the salad was nice although too heavily dressed and piled with olives that made it oddly salty. Lively garlic butter came with small slices of nice warm baguette although the server appeared surprised at a child's request for a second serving of bread and brought only a few extra pieces. While the server promised cheddar cheese for a baked potato ordered by a child as an entree, cheese never materialized nor did butter.

We left hungry without patience to wait for dessert.

“Our waiter made this the best experience!”
Reviewed 25 January 2014

Loved this blues bar/restaurant. We walked from the bridge, but misjudged the distance - longer than we thought! Walked through Avila Hotel to this beautiful restaurant on the water. Our waiter Kenneth was a gem - he was so cordial, friendly, and helpful about our selections, I chose his recommendation and was very pleased! I hope this restaurant realizes what a great staffperson they have with Kenneth! Thank you for helping me celebrate my 50th birthday that week!!
