“Beautiful Hotel, beautiful beach, wonderful service!”
Reviewed 28 August 2010

We stayed at the Avila Hotel in Curacao for a week, and it was a lovely experience from start to finish. The room (310) was lovely, spacious and clean, and included a small kitchenette area with sink, fridge, and plates/utensils. There is free "dial up" internet available in the rooms which is actually apparently cable internet, because it's too fast to be true dial up. (Skype worked fine.) The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, as were the maintenance staff. (Maintenance helped us in providing a converter for the blow dryer in the room.) In particular, the security staff were WONDERFUL! They were very caring, and helped us whenever we needed them, including hailing a bus/taxi. The hotel is gated, and feels very secure. There are two beaches, which are very clean and well kept. The food at the Belle Terrace is somewhat expensive, but quite good, and the hostess and waitresses were friendly. The Sat. night grill buffet food was amazing! We did eat at the Blues Bar one night, and the burgers were undercooked and I didn't care for the flavor, but I am picky about my beef, and everywhere else we ate there was good, including the smoothies and food at the Pool bar.
The location is quite convenient to Punda, and also is a quick bus/taxi ride to anywhere on the south side of the island.
Overall, this was a truly lovely hotel, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Curacao.

We stayed there for about two weeks and we had a wonderfull time. The people at the desk where very helpfull (they helped us very good when I hitted a 'brandvis'). The room was quite large with a kitchenette and nice sea view balcony. The music at the Blues Bar was very nice, it's really a wonderfull place! We liked the island, the people, the food. We rented a car for about three days and went on a boat trip to 'Klein (small) Curaçao. So you see enough of the place... I surely would recommend the place to you with this great hotel.

An unplanned additional night, sponsored by the airline brought us to the Avila Beach Hotel. The name comes from a vintage car owned once by the owner / founder of the hotel. A bit of a family stay kind of a atmosphere is still there and gives a personal touch to a an already quite large hotel.

We stayed at one of the older, smaller buildings, while a newer wing south exists. The room we had (refused the first room because of a smell), was OK, yet the bathroom was quite small and everything looked like it is expecting a major renovation. I guess I would want to try out one of the newer rooms next time.

Breakfast at the central building was fine. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We loved this hotel. It has a great private beach; the staff was very helpful and friendly but not obsequious; and it's only a short walk into town. If you're looking for a big American-style resort hotel, this place isn't for you. Even though the hotel is a good size and has nice facilities, it has a boutique hotel feel. We've traveled extensively but this is the first time that I liked a hotel so much that I decided to write a review.

Front desk staff made us feel as though we were highly inconveniencing them with any request, but so did everyone else on the island. The explore curacao office was unhelpful and told us moped rentals were only for tour groups, but we did our own homework and found Rent a Retro which let us rent by the day. The blues bar was ok, but we were overcharged $50 on our dinner bill, and upon checkout the desk agent (at 6am) barely spoke english so we couldn't dispute our bill. The beach area was ok. The food was very unappetizing. The rooms were fine. It was close to town, but if you're going to Curacao, you only want to be on the west side. And the ONLY hotel worth visiting is Kula Huranda Lodge. DO NOT STAY NEAR TOWN. ICK.

We spent 5 nights on Avila Hotel in 15-20 of June 2010

We where there to get married on the beach , and it´s hard to explain how perfect everthing was

The room was big , quiet and very clean (awsome maids) , even the A/C was low noised

All personal of the Avila team was polite and helpful at alltime

Food , bar and beach was really good , perfect for romance or just relaxing hotel

Bartender Glenn was a extra "star" in the bar , he made eveyone feel welcome .. even when he told bad jokes or tried to sing

The cannister with icoldwater standing om the beach was rly nice ,

i belive if someone is thinking of getting to Curacao to get married Avila should be first choice, then have awsome arangement on the beach , even the dinner on the beach on pillows was perfect

We alomost felt like royalty`s wherever we went on the Hotel... :)

We will recommend this Hotel to anyone going to Curacao , for wedding or just relaxing

John & anna Howard

We stayed in Avila hotel during our honeymoon. It was great! When we arrived we found a personal card from the manager and champaign in our room. Every morning we found some fresh breads at our door.
Beautiful hotel, very clean. We stayed in de ocagon wing wich was very nice. the room had good aircondition. It's an intimite and romantic hotel.
To willemstad it is a 20 min. walk. In day time that's fine. By night it is better to take a taxi.
The staff of the hotel is very friendly.

We had dinner at the blues cafe, we enjoyed that. We also twice had dinner at Rozandaels. I read about this restaurants in previous reviews and it was great!
I liked all the antillian food!
