Wonderful resort for those who love scuba adventures and those of us who just enjoy pure white sand beaches and relaxing in the sun. Great restaurants and great food. Curacao is a wonderful island about 50 miles off the coast of Venezuela in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. I've been to Paradise Island and Nassau in the Bahamas and Hawaii twice and this is the most beautiful island I've visited by far.

I stayed at Lions Dive with a friend for 2 weeks. It's the perfect place for relaxing during your holiday. The beach is very nice, spacious and there are enough chairs to relax in the sun. It's never too crowded like I saw on Jan Thiel which was way to commercial & crowded for me and doesn't breathe the atmosphere of Curaçao at all. Lions Dive has cosy, clean rooms and the service is friendly. There are different places around where you can eat. Breakfast at Hemingway (at the beach) offers various things like different kinds of bread, croissants, yoghurt, cereals, mixed fruit, scrumbled egg, pancakes... Diner is also nice when there is Reggae or Cuban Night with a live band. The food is quite simple; Caesar Salad, Steak, Salmon, Burger...so if you want something more fancy you can eat at Nemo upstairs where you can choose all kinds of fish. For me, the best restaurant around was Augusto's (Italian) next to the Sea Aquarium and just a few minutes walk. Pasta's, fish, meat...all deliciously made by real Italians :-)! There's also Piazza, but I haven't been there to eat. If you want some activity you are also at the right place at Lions Dive. There's a nice gym next to Lions Dive and ofcourse there are daily diving and snorkling trips from the hotel. The sea is really clear and blue and you can see nice fish during snorkling. If you really want some relaxation you can book a massage at the beach. The buildings have a colonial character and are surrounded by tropical plants. They take good care of the garden, I saw people keeping up every day. If you want to go into the city you can hop on the free shuttle bus every day (morning or afternoon). If you're into some dancing you can also visit Cabana (walking distance). Every Sunday there's Wet'n Wild at Mambo Beach. So over all a great & charming place.

My experience on this resort during my 4 months visit here is very good. I have had 5 different rooms during my visits and the rooms are nice, complete, clean and refurnished. Breakfast is complete and you can have your diner at Hemmingway en my favorite very good restaurant Nemo near the entrance. The services are good and the staff was very helpfull during these months. Also they have a Pizza restaurant. You can eat on the beach en when you walk 100 meters you are on Mambo beach were you have more restaurants to choose. Lions Dive has a wonderfull olympic swimmingpool and sport facilities. I planned my diving trips at Ocean Encounters 40 meters from the hotel. Nice people and professionals.100 meters from the hotel is the Sea Aquarium with the Dolphins. They say "the resort is a natural place to stay" and that I can confirm,

Room Tip: try not to have a room near the reception because it is 24 hours open.

Let's start by saying I WISH WE HAD STAYED HERE! We checked this place out when my son was at the Dolphin Encounter next door a couple days ago. It looks charming, so much more character than most places in Curacao. The pool was pretty, the grounds very nice, a cute little welcome area inside and great restaurants, more laid back, not so stuffy, and the food was good. There's a lot right here and I think if we had stayed here instead of where we did stay (The Renaissance), we would have had a nicer trip.

Lions Dive is not a 5 star resort, but clean, well-staffed, and plenty of places to eat/drink on a very attractive property. Barkeeps pour a very nice drink, and can make anything you want. Food is good, but not fabulous. We had inclusive breakfast plan, and it was ok, plentiful, but not fabulous. OJ is more like "Tang", definitely not real OJ.
If you're coming from the US, BRING AN ADAPTER for electric. (they only had one at the desk to borrow) All outlets are european (two round prong, and deeply seated in the wall, so make sure you bring an extender, too). THE BEST SHOWERS I have ever experienced in the room....great water pressure and as hot as you could stand. (this is even better after coming in from diving when you are cold and soaked with seawater ;^) Beds are very comfortable, with plenty of fluffy pillows. Very clean, good plumbing.
Very nice live band on Friday night - - delightful. Nice big beach towels are provided, as long as you present the towel card given at check in.
WiFi is free, but weak. You can pay extra for more bandwith, but folks in our party couldn't tell the difference.
The dive shop (Ocean Encounters) and their staff were *outstanding*. Highly recommended them. Professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and generous with their assistance.
Lion's Dive is quite far from Willemstad, so expect to pay a lot for taxis, unless you utilize their own shuttle which leaves at 9am and 2pm, with 8pm pickup back to the hotel, and drops you off in the heart of the city.
Would definitely return.

Room Tip: If you can pay a little more, book a room on the north side of the property where is is quieter and has better views.
