We greatly enjoyed our honeymoon at the Baoase! A small resort, with private beach and accommodations- seemed like it was our own oasis! It was exactly what we wanted- secluded and not the typical "all-inclusive cookie-cutter" honeymoon resort. Enjoyed a few arranged extras from the hotel, such as the boat trip to Klein Curacao, a massage on the beach, and a beach picnic under stars. A short cab ride into the city to check it out one day, but ran back to enjoy our private beach!

Baoase is my kind of place. This is a very small resort with a lovely staff. We booked at the last minute, so no "regular" rooms were available. I was able to secure a lovely 3 bedroom villa at a rate only slightly higher than a single. The villa was fabulous, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the salt water pool. A bottle of champagne and fresh fruit were waiting for us on arrival. The decor was Balinese-inspired modern. The electrical outlets are European, but an adaptor box is available.

The staff is incredibly thoughful. The day of our arrival was my boyfriend's birthday. I didn't mention this to anyone, but they must have noticed when they copied our passports. They sat us down at the bar for a welcome snack and cocktail for a few minutes to "get the room ready." I thought this was a little odd, since they knew when we would be arriving. We were then shown to our villa, and it was filled with balloons! A member of the staff had actually gone out and found decorations to celebrate his birthday. It was a really unexpected and wonderful gesture.

The beach is beautiful, and we made good use of the kayaks. There is actually very good snorkeling right next to the resort, but we only discovered this on our last day (you have to walk past the main beach...only a few steps, but hidden unless you look for the path). We brought our own gear, but masks, snorkels, and fins are available to borrow (no charge).

The resort offers several excursions, either with private companies or with the hotel guide, Carlos. Book your trip with Carlos in advance! He's popular, and with good reason. He also doesn't work on the weekends. This meant he was only available on Friday during our stay, and he already had an island tour booked. We were initially disappointed to have missed the opportunity, but Carlos managed to squeeze a snorkeling trip in at the end of the day. I've never snorkeled a wreck before (the famous "Tugboat Wreck" dive/snorkel spot), and it was amazing! Carlos is wonderful, and has an infectious spirit that will leave you smiling.

The restaurant is really great, and the kitchen was able to accomodate my food allergies without too much difficulty. The only problem is that this is a popular spot to eat for both locals and tourists staying at other hotels. It can get crowded at the dinner service. The servers are lovely, but will make you feel somewhat inadequate as they all speak at least 3 languages!

We had a wonderful time, and wish we could have stayed longer! I loved the feel of this resort. I wouldn't recommend staying with children, since there would be very little to keep them entertained. Go for a romantic getaway, and you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the suite. The terrace is worth it!

My family and I spent a week at Baoase in October halfterm school holidays - it was fabulous. We had booked a 2 bedroom villa with private pool and were really glad we had - it was perfect, the kids were upstairs, we had a fantastic outdoor shower and bath and our own secluded (and great sized) pool. The kids loved the beach and the snorkling and we found it difficult to leave the resort. On one day we snorkelled with the dolphins at seaquarium (magical) and one day hired a car and 'did' the island. The rest of the time we just lazed around and relaxed (perfect). We ate breakfast and lunch at Baoase every day (just as great as all the reviewers claimed) and only one night for dinner. The rest of the time we used the book of menus in the reception to decide on somewhere to eat and then the reception staff organised us a taxi there and back - worked a treat. We thought this would prove to be expensive, but when we got the bill were surprised to find it was actually very reasonable.

The staff were reserved but always extremely helpful and pleasant, if not gushing (in an OTT american kind of way) and the atmosphere of Baoase was simply perfect. The kids really enjoyed themselves and we didn't feel out of place with all of the honeymooners - so I would definately recommend it if you have kids that love to travel and want to go somewhere a bit different. Well worth it.

Room Tip: The 2 bed villas are worth the extra !

We decided to really splurge for the last part of our honeymoon, and opted for the honeymoon package.

A chauffeur pickup started what would be an amazing stay, with excellent service, and very good food, all in beautiful surroundings.

Baoase has a pool and a manmade lagoon, divided from the ocean by an artificial island.

While small, the resort feels big. The south-westerly attitude of the beach means you are more or less guaranteed beautiful sunsets every night.

On clear days you can see Venezuela to the south, and lounging in the beach chairs, in the water or at the bar is a great way to spend the days.

We stayed here for our honeymoon in Oct. 2011. If you're looking for a luxury boutique hotel experience, this is it. The service was very good, and did a great job of helping us secure events off site. The lagoon on property is visually nice. From a location standpoint, you would NOT want to walk anywhere from here. The on site security is great, but the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy. This is pretty common in Curacao.

You're going to catch a cab or shuttle to your activities. That's probably the only drawback.

Our meals were great. We selected the option which included breakfast. The bfast was very, very good. It's an eclectic menu with items like Kiwi Crepes, Lobster Benedict, Pancake with Tomato/Basil/Mozzarella, etc.

I had a nice fish sandwich for lunch (local caught Dorado) one day, and for dinner we had a Mushroom/Truffle Risotto, Shrimp Tempura and a couple of other very good dishes. Relaxing, fun and a nice room with a jacuzzi on the balcony.

Room Tip: For us the "Ocean View" room had very limited view of the ocean. Our view was blocked by...

Curacao is exotic. But this hotel is for sure the most tropical place on Curacao. You stay in a botanic garden (the gardeners from Haiti did an amazing job). And they don't have rooms...it's like a private villa. With a swimming pool and private kitchen. Prices are high, but the experience will be worth it!

Room Tip: Take one of the villa's with a private pool (some have a large pool which is connected with othe...

My wife and I stayed at Baoase for 9 nights in late August/early September for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we wanted. We stayed in Ocean Front Suite #2 (Mawar Mira) which was a fantastic room with a private balcony and hot tub which overlooked the ocean. It was perfect. The weather there was sunny with a nice breeze. The breeze was crucial as it gets to be about 90 degrees that time of year. Every morning we had breakfast on the beach, which was included in the price of the room. This was no ordinary breakfast -- you could choose from items like eggs benedict, french toast, etc. and you could even order prosecco. About half of the days we just lounged on the private beach and hung in the pool. The resort is very small so at times it feels like you have the whole place to yourself. The rest of the days we planned various activities. We snorkeled with Carlos (the resort guide) at the sunken tugboat, we chartered a fishing boat with "Let's Fish", we had massages on the beach, dune buggied across the island with "Curacao Buggy Adventures", and spent an afternoon walking through downtown. The boat charter was great although we only caught two small tuna. I highly recommend the buggy tour and my wife really enjoyed the massages we booked through the resort. We ate at the Baoase restaurant our first and last nights. The food was excellent but the service was slow. But we were on "Carribbean time" so it wasn't a big deal for us. The rest of the nights we went out to dinner, our favorites being: The Wine Cellar, Mundo Bizarro, and Bistro le Clochard. The resort can line up taxis for your travel to and from the restaurants. There is a supermarket called Boulevard about two blocks away. We walked there a few times throughout our stay to purchase alcohol and snacks for our room. This was great because we could have happy hour on our balcony instead of racking up a large bar tab. In regards to previous reviews on the staff, it is true that most of them are newer and/or have temporary interships. However, they were all very nice and accommodating. You may need to be patient at times, but at no point did we not have someone who was eager to help us. In conclusion, we highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking for a low-key beach vacation. It is a great for a honeymoon or for couples in general. The scenery is beautiful, the resort is five-star, and there are plenty of great restaurants to choose from. We would love to return at some point in the future.
