We spent a week here in November and loved it! The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The kitchen is a bonus. Grocery store is about a mile away. The decks off the rooms are enormous (we were on 2nd floor). We weren't sure about having to take a shuttle (golf cart) to the beach but it was readily available and actually not needed since the beach is at the bottom of the hill.

The staff at the hotel was wonderful. Always pleasant and helpful. The pool was nice and had a bar. Overall this hotel was fantastic.

The island is pretty cool. We had rented a car so we visited beaches at the other end of the island. The beach had a bar and grill and you could rent snorkel gear. The water was crystal clear. You need water shoes though because it's not soft sand in the water but more like a lava rockiness to it. Restaurants in town are great. We were having dinner one night and a huge ship came through the loch and went through the floating bridge. The ship was the size of a cruise ship and took up the entire loch - amazing to watch.

I loved this island, the people, and most of all this hotel and its staff!

We booked our room with the Floris because they had just switched to "Adult" only and that they wrote they are the best gay friendly hotel to stay at on the island. Well neither of these were true! There was children/babies in the pool a couple of days so we asked about it. They said that they made their reservations before the switch. So did we! When we asked we were told adult only starting in Sept. The parents with kids should have been told no kids after Sept. But they took them anyway, of course....they want the $$. But we would not have stayed there if we knew they were still taking kids. They also didn't seem all the gay friendly. With all of this and the fact that the hotel needs A LOT of work we will not go back! It was nice to have a kitchenette but we also had cockroaches. We told the desk, they brought a spray down. We had our cleaning room girl spray while we were gone during the day. Our air conditioner leaked, water stains down the wall, water on the floor. Mold in the bathroom. No decoration, stark white walls. We ordered room service, it was very slow service and the food was horrible and cold. We sent it back and they brought some other replacement meal that was just as bad. We did get our $ back but we ended up eating p.b and j for dinner : ( We did have a car so we just went out to eat for our meals. The location was pretty good. We checked out a lot of the beaches. We did eat at Pirate Bay a couple times, good food there. Service wasn't great but the views were. We found that the service on the whole Island was horrible. They didn't really seem to want tourists there! We never really felt welcomed anywhere. Probably won't ever go back to Curacao!!

Room Tip: Get a different hotel!

Dear Scater12,

We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. The hotel was indeed intransition while your were visiting back in September. Now in December the hotel is 100% for adults (18+) and older. We cater to a large group of gay men and women. While the hotel also welcomes traditional couples we are certainly proud to be the leading hotel for gay audience on the Island of Curacao. The staff is mostly rated as very friendly. We are sorry to hear that you did not experience it this way. We are glad you enjoyed our beaches and restaurant nearby. We certainly hope to see you back sometime and I will personally make sure you will receive the best possible service and product.

The Floris Suites is located a few miles from the famous tourist areas, so having a car is a real advantage (since the hotel shuttle is only available around 9:00 am and 4:00 pm). The hotel grounds are beautiful, and the pool area is very nice. Our suite had a refrigerator, 2 burner stove, and microwave. This was our main reason for choosing Floris over the Hilton, which was right across the street. Unfortunately, the plates and utensils were very few----obviously for 2 people who did not mind buying dish detergent and frequently washing the too few items. Some very nice room features included a remote controlled air conditioner, a large flat screen tv that could easily be viewed from the very nice patio, the very large and comfortable king bed, the pull out sofa, and the attractive shower. Still, there were some concerns. The ceiling light/fan did not work, the safe was faulty and was never fixed (after we quickly reported it), the water was very very hot, the toilet had a very loud high-pitched sound when flushed, one of the 2 patio chairs badly needs repair, and the coffee maker tended to be somewhat erratic. The most surprising feature was the lack of a dresser. Fortunately, the part of the closet with the safe had a few shelves for clothes, etc. Overall, my brother and I had a pleasant stay---especially since we had access to the nice beach and Casino across the street at the Hilton. And we did have a car. But my wife would have been very disappointed by the lack of a dresser and the meager dinnerware situation. On a final note, the restaurant was very nice----but expensive.

The hotel looks good, very appealing lobby, nice 24/7 swimming pool, nice garden, rooms are a bit dusty but it's ok. Kitchen ammeneties are Ok.
Lots of mosquitos, be aware with opening doors.
Great stay

The hotel is located in the Piscaderabaai next to the Hilton and the Marriott. It's a short drive into Willemstad and having a car is highly recommended. There is free and safe parking on the premises. The suites are all equipped with little kitchenettes and most have a lovely terrace of balcony. They all have a big fridge and freezer. We enjoyed the restaurant Sjalotte on several nights and also prepared our own food on some nights. Breakfast is fairly expensive and not very special. There is a big supermarket "Centrum" not far from the hotel. The staff is very friendly and always eager to help. We enjoyed the location; you can walk to Pirate Bay and may use the Parasasa Beach, which is adults only. It is a great hotel, excellent to just relax and unwind. We would definitely recommend Floris Suite for a stay on Curacao.
