“Great place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2013

We recently stayed at Dive Dominica while combining a business trip with a family vacation. and stayed at the Castle Comfort Dive Lodge. It was a great place, clean, reasonable and right on the sea front with wonderful food and outstanding staff. The Dive Dominica staff/dive Masters were wonderful, very personable, informational and professional for both our diving and snorkeling adventures. My entire family were welcomed and treated as one of their own family. The food was outstanding and the dining out on the sea front everynight was great. Even during Tropical Storm Chantal, we felt safe and reassured.

We have a very successful first trip to Dominica (Dom in EEK a) late May/early June. The purpose of our trip was to scuba dive but we also enjoyed the pace of life and above-water activities all around the island. We did 19 dives over about ten days during our two weeks in Dominica. We dove with DIVE DOMINICA and while we did not stay at Castle Comfort Lodge (we were in an apt rental 3 mins towards town as we were a family of three), we enjoyed lots of beers on the patio and great meals, including the Sunday BBQ...staff were all very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The daily two-tank dive trips were all lots of fun and as stated elsewhere in reviews, we enjoyed the pace of the dives and had lots of time to explore areas. It was a good routine...stored our gear, we all cleaned up after each dive and boats left on time. Had a number of night dives right off their dock which were very rewarding. They always tried to identify new dive spots for us given we were there for quite a long stay relative to the typical visitors (lucky us!). All our diving was in the south around and in the Marine Park. It was a quiet time of year as no cruise ships (lucky us!), and we noted that lots of other dive companies didn't seem to be operating as regularly as Dive Dominica, who had some large bookings. They sent out a separate boat for our smaller group each day -- 6-10 people was typical on the boats with 2 DMs. The boat rides were about 20-30 mins and views were fabulous. We would go back if budgets allow in the future. People seemed pretty happy to be staying at the lodge as well. Very convenient for diving...simple, clean rooms. Dont expect FIVE STAR travel in this country...it still retains some uniqueness as a travel destination with the friendly people and beautiful natural environment being what is shared with travellers. Don't demand more duty shopping centres please!!

Had an amazing first visit to Dominica and stayed at Castle Comfort Dive Lodge. Great place for the avid diver, clean, great food and staff and oceanfront. Dive Dominica are an excellent crew, very professional and great at spotting those must see critters. They were very patient with our large group of photographers and very eco-friendly. Not only was the diving amazing but the land is just gorgeous. So make sure to plan some free time out of the water and go hiking up to Trafalgar Falls, check out the hot springs, the history of Fort Shirley, the botanical gardens and so much more. Definitely going to be back again!

Stayed at Castle Comfort for a couple of nights on a recent trip, it is a great little dive lodge, clean, convenient, right on the water, great food and helpful staff.
The Dive Dominica staff were ECXELLENT - service was great, very professional, dove at a good pace (not too fast) so you could actually stop and see some of the great macro there is on these reefs. Boat was large clean and comfortable, plenty of space for cameras. Staff are all eco-minded which is good to see.
WARNING!! This is hard to say to divers, but when visiting Dominica don't spend ALL your time underwater! This Island is so amazing you have to visit some of the beautiful topside attractions, waterfalls, volcanic hot springs, old forts........ I can't wait to go back.

Heading to Dominica? Team up with Dive Dominica and Castle Comfort Dive Lodge for an amazing trip! The facility is clean and perfect as a dive lodge - dive nuts like us don't want a fancy 5-star place. We want nice clean rooms, good food, and close proximity to our gear, the water, and the boats. We have all that here PLUS the some of the friendliest, most accommodating staff (friends!) you'll find anywhere! This was our third trip to Dominica and won't be our last. We look forward to seeing these folks and all of the underwater critters again soon!!

Room Tip: Each room is special. We liked the first floor due to outside entrances and quick access to all thi...

Very helpful staff, close to the reefs, with Dive Dominica on-site. Beds are springs, and hard. Not as bad as most on Cozumel. The rooms need shower curtains to not wet the floor. Rooms need hotter hot water too. A/C works very good, small LCD TV, no alarm clock or radio, phone with wake-up call. Place really, really needs fly zapper or at least NO PEST STRIPS! Flies in your drink & food is a real turn-off. Why flies? They put out sugar for the birds & it draws flies, and not even one fly swatter. Come on! Some no-seeums, or mosquito's which got me on the feet at the water-side restaurant. Not as many as Cozumel as it was raining nearly everyday this trip. Food was very good, but double USA prices. Most of the island is priced the same. 15% VAT island tax and 15%-18% service charge on all bills. Rooms on the street are noisy, as very, very loud motorcycles fly down this road & a next door dance place plays Thursday & Friday nights. Take Leight 33db ear plugs & a sound deadening machine too!

Room Tip: Pay extra for the building above the dive shop with ocean view for the most quiet room. (*Not quiet...

I researched Dominica, Roseau, and Castle Comfort Dive lodge pretty thoroughly before making our decision. I wanted to go somewhere that offers a lot of sightseeing, adventure, natural beauty. The more rustic and off the beaten path the better as far as I am concerned. We booked our flights to and from with US Airways from Charlotte NC to St Maarten and BVI from St Maarten to Dominica. Castle Comfort Dive Lodge emailed me a week before our trip to pack over night things and our regs in our carry-on luggage because of baggage problems with airlines. We had no problems with BVI except for a short delay in St Maarten on the way. I knew that Melville Hall Airport was on the opposite end of the island and that it was going to be quite a ride over to Roseau.
I was not disappointed. When we arrived at Castle Comfort Lodge we were greeted by the owner and a very friendly staff. Our baggage was already in our rooms. Other than our first night stay - noise from next door -everythingelse was as expected. Rooms are clean, efficient, beds were comfortable. Food was excellent. Staff was very polite and helpful. Castle Comfort Lodge is a 14 room establishment so it is very small. Again this is what I was looking for when I booked our stay. Very relaxing for the two of us. The dive staff from Dive Dominica did an excellent job. They took their time with the group they were guiding. Pointed out different creatures for us. Dive briefings were simple, straight forward, and safety was adhered to. Beautiful end of the island to dive. Overall Dominica is a very beautiful island to visit. The people are very friendly. I only regret not having more time to hike and explore the rest of Dominica.
