Such good diving there, I don't know where to start! These Dive Masters know where all the good stuff is and they take you there everyday. At no time did I feel like a tourist diver. It was like friends taking me to all their best dive sites. Beyond that, the dive shop is set up really nice. Everything is right there on the pier. Tanks for shore diving, rinse tank, drying rack, shower, and gear storage are all right there where you need it. Everything was made easy. The boats are well maintained, clean, and really roomy. So looking forward to diving with these guys again.
If you love diving/snorkeling, book a stay here! They were super friendly and helpful with all our plans and excursions! Really top notch! And rooms were great!
We spent quite a bit of time with Dive Dominica in March 2016. We were originally due to go on a whale watching trip with another company but unfortunately we were informed in the morning that the trip got cancelled. Luckily, the accommodation we were staying at recommended the afternoon trip with Dive Dominica who were very professional and made the day very enjoyable. During our 2 ½ hour trip we spotted a few sperm whales including 2 calves… we were both very happy.
As we are keen scuba divers and we were impressed with the facilities and team at Dive Dominica, we booked 2 boat dives for the following day. We dived at L’Abym and Witches Point. We were very well looked after by Kramer who is one of the Divemasters. Kramer made sure that the dives were fun and very relaxed and he definitely did not disappoint on both accounts… just what we needed since our last dive 6 months prior to that. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we booked another day of diving. This time Kramer took us to reefs at Champagne and Scott’s Head. Night dive at Champagne was also very good, with lots of underwater activity. Overall very good experience and happy customers.
We had an amazing day on board the catamaran on a recent cruise excursion to Dominica. We set sail from the Port of Roseau and headed straight out to sea. After the initial safety induction the crew explained what types of whales and dolphins we could hopefully spot during our excursion. We were very fortunate to encounter two groups of Sperm Whales, the crew were excellent in explaining about the whales and their dive techniques. We then headed further inland where we seen groups of dolphins swimming and jumping around the catamaran. Rum punch, juice and water was also available on board. I cannot praise the crew highly enough for knowledge, professionalism in finding whales (with a little help from their sonar) and friendliness. This adventure was a highlight of our cruise, I would recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Dominica wishing to see whales and dolphins in their natural environment.
Large catamaran easily held all guests. Staff were professional and helpful. Boat was super clean. You must remove shoes upon boarding. Snorkeling equipment was ok, though we have had better elsewhere as well as better organization. I had trouble getting a decent fit since flippers covered a size range and not just one size. I ended up with a bad, bloody blister on a toe. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic complimentary punch was delicious, but no alcohol until after snorkeling. They also offered other complimentary beverages including beer. The amount of swimming required was much more extensive than other excursions we had experienced. We got off the boat into an area that was pretty barren of sea-life, divided into 3 groups, each led by a guide. As soon as I hit water, I was carried away from the boat by the water ... which was a tad alarming considering our other experiences. Took some effort to wait for my spouse and get to the group. Our guide swam us to other areas where we could see some fish, some coral and then the champagne bubbles, even diving down to retrieve items to display and discuss. That was nice and educational, but way too many people clumped together kicking you, trying to hear the guide and see what he was doing. It was not a comfortable experience and the champagne bubbles were a disappointment. There were small streams of bubbles coming up here and there, but nothing to make us feel like we were swimming in champagne. Plus, we worried about keeping up with the guide since we were swimming pretty long distances and couldn't hear what he was saying due to the crowd of people. Overall, this was not a great snorkeling experience compared to others on different islands. However, after the snorkeling, the crew opened the bar and served small cuts of sandwiches ... motoring us along the coast for a long ride to see the views. The trip was fantastic ... we very much enjoyed this part of the excursion!
Amazing time! It was my 40th birthday and going whale watching and seeing so many whales was the best gift ever! We saw half a dozen Sperm whales and even a whale calf! The crew on the ship were great! Very knowledgeable and professional. They even had a local whale identification book on board so you could identify which whales you were seeing. I highly recommend Dive Dominica if you want to go whale watching while on Dominica.
