“Beautiful!”

Largest freshwater lake on the island, and only a 45 minute hike to get there. Be careful though, the hike can be VERY slippery!

“Not too long, not too difficult, enjoyable hike.”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

The trail to the Boeri Lake is well marked and maintained, not too long ( we took about 40 minutes each way) or difficult and takes you through some lovely vegetation. if you are familiar with the Boiling Lake hike, the trail is similar to the route up Morne Nichol, but not as step or as long. Much of the trail is cut steps, but there are some sections where you walk over rocks, which can be slippery when wet (which is most of the time you are in cloud forest after all!). A stick or pole and good shoes would be helpful. The Lake when we arrived, was shrouded in cloud and quite mysterious, but then the cloud lifted and we could appreciate how green and lovely it was. There are two or three great view points across the Morne Trois Pitons en route. Well worth the drive up from Roseau.

“Lovely!”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

30 mins each way hike from Freshwater Lake. More or less completely up steps all the way there. I'm not particularly fit, but I managed it ok. When you get to the lake, it is so quiet and beautiful, and you are in the clouds from time to time, which makes it quite surreal.
We swam in the lake - it was extremely cold (fresh!), so take a towel to wrap up in afterwards. You can always go to Screws, or any of the other local Sulphur Spa's to heat up on the way back to Roseau!
Very easy track, can't get lost. But it is cold up there, so if you want to hang out for a while, take something warm to wear!

“Beautiful isolated lake, one of our highlights of Dominica”
Reviewed 23 April 2013

We made our way from the Freshwater Lake to Boeri Lake and were very glad to have made the extra effort. It was only an extra 30minutes hike (watch out, there are some slippy rocks!) and you get a great view of Freshwater Lake from the trail. When you arrive at Boeri Lake you really do feel like you've reached a very special, beautiful, peaceful place. Unfortunately after we'd been here for five minutes the heavens opened and the clouds obstructed our view. It was definitely worth the walk though for those magical five minutes.

“Nice hike and lovely mountain lake”
Reviewed 29 January 2013

The 45-minute hike to the lake is really nice. It rained for most of our hike, but, that absolutely did not take anything away from the beauty of the hike. It was not a flat trail...lots of rocks, branches and a couple of fallen down trees, but still very manageable. Just be a bit careful - some parts of the trail were quite slippery. A hiking pole or a stick will be helpful. The Lake itself is lovely - not a big lake, but, it is surrounded by hills and that makes it pretty. If you have 2-3 hours to spare, do this! You won't be disappointed.
