Mei Gui Restaurante
Cuisines: Chinese
Description: If you miss some Chinese food head to the new Chinatown/Barrio Chino to the north of the Zona Colonial. The best known of restaurants is a short 10 minute walk uphill from El Conde pedestrian street up Duarte Avenue to the place run by a convivial lady. The place is clean, packed and friendly.

“Best Chinese Restaurant in the new Chinatown/Barrio Chino”
Reviewed 25 February 2011

Situated just 10 minutes uphill and north from El Conde pedestrian mall in the Zona Colonial, the Barrio Chino was inaugurated in 2008. In this four block area are Chinese restaurants and variety shops. Mei Gui Restaurant is located on the main Avenida Duarte, no. 17, on the east side. A cosy, two storey affair serving fresh, Cantonese cuisine with dim-sum à la carte (small selection) Cantonese as well as the obligatory added "pan Asian" menu. The hostess is a very convivial lady who makes her customers at ease. Serving staff, who are not Chinese, may not be entirely familiar with the dishes but just ask for the hostess for explanations.

“Not Just Chinese Food”
Reviewed 25 February 2011

What I love about this place is that they specialize in different Asian cuisines. Along with great sushi, you will find some Thai or Vietnamese specialties. All with the freshest ingredients and served fairly quickly. Hands down, the best Chinese/Asian restaurant in Barrio Chino (Chinatown).
