This is a great place to stay in the Colonial Zone. It is at the quiet end of Calle Isabel la Catholica but near the Cathedral and El Conde shopping .... maybe a 3 minute walk. We got a slightly reduced rate of $70 which includes a hot breakfast and makes this the best bargain in the city. The hotel is very clean, staff extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are quaint and comfortable. It is small (maybe 7 rooms) but we did not want a traditional hotel .... the room we had was a good size with a bacony, washroom with shower, air conditioning and comfortable bed. The sheets are paper thin and need to be replaced but that is my only negative. Staff helped with directions and calling a taxi for us.

I would stay here in a heartbeat!

Nothing outside this small hotel in an old building at the quiet, non-tourist end of Calle Isabel la Catolica in Zone Colonial suggests there's even a hotel here. The sign "Casa Naemie" can mean anything. But step inside and you're greeted by a very friendly staff (directed long distance by owners in France) and the house cat, and they will quickly make you feel welcome. The narrow, open-air, inside courtyard leads to the few rooms in four levels, all recently remodeled with subtle touches of IKEA (which has its only North American store outside Canada and USA in the Dominican Republic). Johnny, the English and French speaking Haitian-born manager, will make certain that your visit is pleasant and safe, including taking your orders for a full breakfast with plenty of robust, Dominican coffee, and not visibly carry any personal electronic device. He will double as taxi driver and wil gladly meet you at the airport or drive you to the bus terminal for your domestic bus trip.

It may not seem like much from outside, but once you pass the humble door, you discover a charming hotel, very clean, fresh (air con) and nicely decorated 1 minute walking distance from the central square of the Cuidad Colonial. The personel is extremely helpfull and speaks English. The rooms offer a very good standard and can accomodate up to 4 people in the best confort. The breafast may not be so continental but the freshness of the fruits and omelette served will certainly keep you going the distance when visiting the Cuidad.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs with a terrace, on the backside.

They offer a very good price which is difficult to beat in the zona colonial. You got a better price if you call them directly. This hotel is a casa with colonial charm. Great location... you can walk by the quiet streets of the colonial zone and the busy calle conde (pedestrian shopping street) is also just nearby. If you want to eat... you have the choice of walking to the Malecon during the day or crashing by night in one of the restaurants facing the Parque Colon and the cathedral which is within 550 meter distance. You can decide to chill at the colmado (dominican convenient store) located right at the street corner...sipping your Presidente beer with the company of the locals listenning live merengue music. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Their breakfast is very good and is included in the price.
