“good value for the money”
Reviewed 4 February 2010

We arrived on the 18 Jan for a 2 weeks stay. At first we were directed to a conner room and since it was not what we had ask for we ask to be move. Nothing happend the first day but once we spoke with our sunquest representative we were move to a room directly on the beach . Not one that was renoveted but very cosy and very clean.
We did enjoy our stay . The staff was very polite and tried to accomodate you in any way possible. The food was excellent.
As for the entertainment personnel we wish to tanks Niurka (Happy) to have make our stay more pleasant by making sure that the older person could have game to play ( bocce) at the beach and not only volly ball.

We arrived on Sunday Jan 31 for 7 days at this hotel- not long enough!!! Our room was very clean. We had a very moderate room- king size bed,TV, small closet and bathroom , balcony. We don't spend much time in our room anyways - we were quite happy with what we got except our air conditioner was a little noisy- but it was working. Food, I thought was very good- different from what we are used to at home, but good. Beach was very nice, staff was there every morning raking the beach and sweeping the sidewalks around the grounds. For a 3 star hotel- I would give them a 5 star for cleaniness and staff always there to please the guests.
Entertainment was excellent in the evening, Scoobie Doo(Ronole)-our fav., Junior , and Rosie were the ones that stood out the most - they were multi talented individuals that entertained us playing beach volleyball in the morning & afternoon -to different activities during the day , teaching us dance skills and challenging us with other activities and then in the evening they would put on their costumes and entertain us with mini vegas show. I like to also mention David was an awesome bartender- he was amazing!!!
One of the last nights we had an amazing dinner on the beach , pig roast and entertainment and fireworks- it was a beautiful night. We made so many friends from the ages of 20-65 we all met up in the one corner of the resort - The Canadian Corner- hopefully we will see most of them next year, same place , same time and same corner , eh!!!!

We were a group of eight family and friends from Canada. We have been to DR several times and would rate this hotel as one of our best experiences. The animation staff are outstanding. They include Sayeeda, Nieyurka, Mary (Christmas), Junior, Scooby, Antonio, Rosaria, Celeste. Every day they stopped to chat even though they were extremely busy keeping us all entertained from morning to late night. Every one of them is an outstanding personality. Congratulations and hello to you all.
The hotel is being renovated. We were not in the new rooms, but they placed us all close together close to the ocean. The rooms had a separate bedroom and spacious living area. In the event of rain, we could have all gathered in one room. Luckily our 2 weeks were totally dry except for one evening. The rooms are older, but clean. Some air conditioners are noisy, but never broke down. We always came back to towel swans and flowers. Always lots of good quality towels and even facecloths.
The gardens are tended constantly resulting in beautiful flowers and trees. Bobby on the beach rakes and cleans up constantly, resulting in a beautiful beach area. Waiters are entertaining and pleasant. Raymon from the beach made us laugh every day. Mariano always smiled. Even though there are only 2 bars, we never waited long to be served. Also, waiters were more than willing to serve you. The pool was chilly but was ok once you got used to it. It was always clean. The ocean was outstanding our first week with nice waves but not too rough. The second, the weather changed and it was not as calm, but obviously not the fault of the hotel. Towels were large and new. Sunbeds were plentiful. Vendors on the beach approached us, especially when we were new, but took no for an answer. Even the vacation club took no for an answer the first time. That was a first for us.
Food in the buffet was very good. We didn't like everything offered, but never had a problem finding a complete meal. We always had a table large enough for our whole party. Omelettes were outstanding along with the cook. Always pleasant. The a la cartes were ok but we preferred the buffet. Our best meal was Roman night when they set up all the tables and chairs on the beach complete with tablecloths. The animation staff wore togas and provided entertainment until 11 pm. We had a full bbq buffet from the pigs and chicken they had bbq'd earlier that day. They bbq'd steak, but somehow can't seem to do well with beef. However, the chicken is always outstanding. Their houseband is very talented. The snackbar on the beach has wonderful frenchfries, chicken and 4 pm pizza. Two nights we had a bonfire on the beach along with entertainment and dancing.
The resort is not large so felt very comfortable. It was a pleasant walk from our rooms by the ocean to the pool area. It felt very safe. At night if one of our party returned to their room, they always saw a security guard along the path. You could choose to be in a totally quiet area or join the fun at the beach or pool. It was your own choice. Check in and out was very efficient.
I believe this is a hotel that is trying very hard to meet everyone's needs. Of course, some will complain no matter what. My feeling is it is listed as a 3 star, it was the 2nd cheapest on the internet, therefore did not cost very much. People wanting more should book 4 star and above not go to a 3 star and then complain it's not good enough. I resent these people being in such a beautiful country with beautiful Dominican people and complaining about mundane things.
We don't often return to resorts as we like to try new ones, however, we will return to this one.
Tips: Take spray for mosquitoes as you spend a lot of time on the beach. Take a water bottle as you can refill at the bars. Also your own cup for coffee and drinks is useful. Take your positive outlook and you'll have the best time of your life.

My husband and I travel quite a bit but this was the first time with our 2 year old daughter. The entire first week it rained but in that first week we had the most fun! The employees really helped us forget about the rain. There were games and competitions easy enough for everyone yet funny!
I need to shout out specifically to Niurka, Scooby-Doo, Junior, Coco-Loco, Rosie, Jhony and Gary. AMAZING job guys!
There is also a small blue house on the resort with a small farm to show what the average person in the Dominican lives in. Free coffee is served there made fresh all day by Paula... I highly recommend visiting her, she is such a sweetheart!

The food wasn't bad... they try hard to change it up.

I wouldn't buy anything from some of the stores at the resort. We were scammed at the cigar shop and "souvenir" shop right next to the cigar shop... go to a market and barter and you could be spending $60US less for the same thing.... That was frustrating!

The rooms are ok, but if you're outside all the time like we were then it really didn't matter. Our air conditioning was awesome... it was HOT the second week we were there... Beach volleyball every day at 10:30am... SO much fun!

Oh and the Paradise Island excursion.... SO worth it!! (Take gravol for the DRIVE though!)

the pool is big
the rooms where big came with a fridge, hairdyer

the food always something for someone only wish is that it was hot most of the time it was cold.......and the dessertts same dessert everyday at lunch and dinner a cheese cake would have been nice.....

This is a great place for peace and quiet. Our room was nice and clean. it was our first time to this resort but have been many many times to Dr. In comparison, to other places we have stayed, this has to be one of the nicer ones. Just remember you are in the Dominican Republic not North America or Europe. The food was good but just pace yourself and don't eat too much because the meals are repeatative. We were very disappointed with the disco. The music was geared directly to Youth Dominicans not tourist. We were all looking forward to a long night of dancing and when we went up there the music was so loud that we danced three dances then left with ear aches! The dominicans seemed to enjoy it though...They will go deaf it they keep that up! Other then that, it was a great place and will definitely return again

This was my 3rd trip to DR & 1st time to this resort. Lots of choices for a la cartes -- you're NEVER hungry here. The food was representative of a 3* hotel trying to be better. Don't miss going to the beach BBQ. This place isn't for the younger crowd, no disco & bar service is cut off at 1am.

The beach was great. Never too crowded no matter what time of the day you went you could always find a chaise lounge. Just tip a little & you get good service -- got served drinks on the beach!

The only 2 bad things: #1 too many beach vendors and #2 they let smokers smoke anywhere they want -- really gross in the restaurants! There are no smoking signs displayed but ignorant people are a$sholes.
